What a nice e-mail.&#A0; Enjoyed last night's meeting very much (as usual!).&#A0; What a great group we have.&#A0; So lucky that we "found" each other. &#A0;
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Gordon and the rest of your family......

I was just browsing through our website, looking at all the various tablesettings and presentations we've had over the last few years. It's really quite amazing, and also very beautiful to see. At this time of Thanksgiving, I'd like to thank Debi Raitz for the great job she does with our website, Dorothy Alden for the programs she's planned, members who have done tablesettings, presentations, or brought in some special piece for all of us to see and admire, Geraldine Young who does such a fine job displaying the cookies for our break, and also to the cookie volunteers. There's a lot of people who make this Club work that I haven't mentioned. It does take a lot of people, each with a special job to do, even if it's just to come and enjoy the meeting. Hope to see all of our members, and maybe a few guests, at the meeting tonight. If not, Happy Thanksgiving.

I have 18 pieces of original blue madrid. Part of a collection I had over 30 years ago. 2-Dinner plates, 4-luncheon plates, 2-footed sherberts,
2-sherbert plates, 2-saucers, 1-cup, 3-5 1/2" tumblers, 1-10" oval bowl and 1-footed salt/pepper shaker (not a pair). I am asking $275.00 for all. I live in Port Huron, MI area. All pieces are in good shape. I also have
1 pair of footed salt & pepper shakers in the clear madrid - one foot has small chip on it. I would like to sell it also.
Call me at 810-531-0090 or email me for more info.

The Heisey Convention is usually the 3rd weekend in June, running from Thursday - Sunday. The 2010 dates aren't published on their website yet but the dates will probably be June 17-20. The Cambridge Convention is always the week after the Heisey Convention. The next Cambridge Convention is June 23-27, 2010.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Let's see what the others think of it. Something else I think we should consider is talking to Michigan Glass Society about joining us for a trip.

This is just a thought I'm going to throw out there and it may or may not help with the numbers of attendees. The reason I did not sign up to go is because my open salt club is having our meeting there next spring on April 10. We don't have big numbers at our meetings, but 10-12 might be enough to help you with room rates, and then it would benefit both groups. We never try for lower room rates because we are such a small group. I will talk with our meeting host and see if she has any suggestions. I know it may be a bit early for that planning, but we might be able to combine two small groups into one. If that sounds like a good time for that trip to you (given the show is always in April) then I'll put you in touch with our meeting host.

I can come to the board meeting this Thursday on the 8th. I was going to miss it when it was on the 1st.

Will it be rescheduled? Margie said it would be a good time to go when the Heisey Convention happens, there's a flea market there also. Don't know when that is. Sue

The museum trip to Fostoria and Newark Ohio has been cancelled due to not enough participation to get a favorable hotel rate or a docent at the Heisey Museum.

Hi,

I just talked to Kathy about the message I left regarding our trip to Fostoria and Newark, Ohio (the next message you will read). She said that she must be informed by October 2nd if you want to go (unless you have already signed up). The other deadline I gave, Oct. 9th, is for the hotel reservation.

Kathy has negotiated beneficial rates that will not be available if our numbers shrink. In fact, we need a few more to carry this trip on. I hope you decide to come with us.

Time is flying, and the deadline to sign up for our Club trip to visit the Glass History Gallery in Fostoria, Ohio and the National Heisey Glass Museum in Newark, Ohio is fast approaching. A wonderful itinerary has been worked out by Kathy Ritzenthaler and Martha Bernstein, including group meals at restaurants and a stay at the Quality Inn in Heath, Ohio for a reasonable $59.46 + tax (with breakfast included). Keep in mind that those who would prefer a one day trip can go to Fostoria and return the same day if desired. If you are a member who doesn't often (or ever) attend our meetings, feel free to call Kathy or Martha, who will more fully describe the trip and send you a packet of maps and information. This is not a bus trip. We are driving, and some members still have room in their cars or vans if you do not want to drive yourself. DEADLINE FOR CONFIRMING RESERVATIONS AT THE QUALITY INN IS OCT. 9TH. Our block of rooms is reserved under the name Kathy Ritzenthaler for the GLDGC. The confirmation number is 140841. Anywone who frequents this website, but is NOT a member of our Club, is invited to join us for this trip. Give Kathy or Martha a call:

Kathy Ritzenthaler (248) 377-0616 or (586) 242-3099 (cell)
Martha Bernstein (248) 641-9636 or (248) 933-5517

Several people who signed up to go have had to cancel due to circumstances beyond their control. We do not want to cancel this trip. Please call Kathy or Martha and plan to join us. It will be a pleasant experience for anyone who loves glass, and we'll learn a lot besides.

September brings us together again for meetings and learning about the beautiful Depression Glass that we all love and cherish. The first meeting of the fall will be Sept. 22nd. I'm now planning the program calendar. Please call me if you would like to do a presentation at one of our meetings. September has been planned but there are lots of slots to be filled.
