BAD NEWS FOR PITCHERS, GOOD NEWS FOR BATTERS

The new ASA rule changes for 2010 have just been announced. The two biggies that will affect us:

1. Knob cuffs are now legal.

2. Pitching height limits are changed to 6-10 feet. No more 12-foot pitches!

Seems to me that a lot more pitchers are going to be injured with this rule, for two reasons:

Flatter pitches are easier to hit harder, and
Pitchers will have less time to back out when their pitches are flatter and get to the plate faster.

I plan on being there. ...a little late: right after church

Practice Sunday at noon at Dexter (Dodds if somebody else is using Dexter).

Temp will be near 70, the sun will be shining, should be a great day for softball!

Also, Tom Young tells me that several guys from the Pteradactyls (the team we used to play on Sundays) plan on coming so it would be great to have enough to play a game.

Did Rudy leave my bat bag with anyone before he left for Florida?

I loaned it to him when the 65er's went to Phoenix. I was going to

pick it up last Thursday, the 29th, but my game was rained out.

Also, does the Thursday night team play at 7:00 tonight?

Ouch! Great Illini game yesterday! I went to the 83' game - the last time Illinois beat Michigan at home. That was quite a season.

Had to share my pain. Here's what that line drive to my foot did Wednesday.

Just a note to let you know that we will continue our Sunday noon practices at Dexter until it becomes uncomfortable. Everybody is welcome! Weather is supposed to be great tomorrow. If we have enough, we'll play a game. Otherwise we'll all get some batting practice in.

We start at noon, but several people get there at 12:30 or 1:00 and that's fine.

A little humor on a rainy day: URGENT: ILLINI football practice was delayed 2 hours today after a player found an unknown substance on the field.

The head coach suspended practice and called federal investigators.

FBI forensic experts determined the white substance was the GOAL LINE.

Practice resumed after agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again this season..

Thanks for the offer; I can't play tonight or next Thursday (Nov. 5) due to work and travel commitments. If the season runs longer I'll be ready for Nov. 12, but the team would suffer a big letdown from you to me.
