I feel you did a great job with the details of both of your reviews and they provided a lot of information regarding osteoarthritis. I liked the feature you provided in the Revoution Health Group website review that they are trying to provide information for people to make better informed decisions regarding their own healthcare. A good topic to bring up because we all should take more control of our own health. It looks like to me that you covered all the necessary information needed but on the first review maybe a little more information regarding the relation with our A&P class. I did enjoy reading them and you did a wonderful job explaining this condition. | | |

Wow, your writing is awesome. You did cover everything we were suppose to. I just think that your relation back to A&P needs more detail. Great job

Every aspect was covered these website reviews. I liked the thought-provoking dislikes about the websites. I really couldn't find anything negative about the reviews

Maybe write some correlation between topic and A&P in the first review. The best thing about this review is that it is really well written. Nice Job!

Revolution Health- A membership based website providing you with stories to aid in the comfort of your disease. http://www.revolutionhealth.com/Revolution Health Group is based on trying to put people at the center of their own healthcare. They want to provide you with some of the right questions to be asked about your health, and give you the chance to make informed decisions when it comes to your healthcare. AOL co-founder Steve Case along with several other big names in such as Colin Powell (former Secretary of State) and David Golden (leading venture capitalist) are behind the development of this website. They are a free, comprehensive site providing insurance comparisons, memberships for businesses, and useful links to other comprehensive sites. They want to proved an unbiased source that enables consumers to easily browse information pertinent to them. The story I chose relates back to anatomy because it is dealing with osteoarthritis of the ankle, specifically the persons right ankle. He noticed a sharp pain in his ankle but only after continuously running for over an hour. He eventually wound up going to an orthopedic surgeon who had told him that to save his ankles, he must stop running and take up some other form of exercise. It is important to be informed about osteoarthritis, especially if you are a victim of this disease. There are things that you can do to cause a progression inflicting more pain, and things you can do to ease the pain. This persons belief after conducting his own research is that his osteoarthritis was not caused by running but another issue. He doesnt state what, but it is still a sad story. I picked this story because I am an avid runner myself and can relate to his sadness because I would be devastated too, if I were not able to run. I think other people in a similar situation might find this simple story to hit home as well, and may be able to take comfort in knowing they were not the only person experiencing the pain of this disease. The two best things about this website is that is it membership based so you can write your own story and get in touch with people who are having the same issue. I also liked the fact that they have a Find a Doctor section which can get you in touch with someone whom can help you, and their contact information. http://www.revolutionhealth.com/care-providers The worst things about this website was reading the About Revolution Health section, and the layout of this website. I personally did not like the About section because I didnt find the developers of the website to be in any way related to the healthcare field. I thought that they were putting too much emphasis on what the backgrounds of the persons were such as former CEOs, leading venture capitalists, former Secretary Of State. Although these people are accomplished, how much do they know about the medical field and how do they screen for information that has been linked to their website, or actually posted on their website. Is the information reliable is the main question for me. I also didnt like the lay out just because when you go the top of the page and click on say… Conditions & treatments is shows a drop down of a small list giving you the idea that those topics are the only ones covered. It made it harder to get to the actual information that you may be searching for. Other than that, I found the website to be helpful with stories just in case you want to know how others are handling the same issues. Review written by, Rachel Garcia

MedicineNet.com- Bringing Doctors Knowledge To You. An informative, yet easy to read and user friendly website. http://www.medicinenet.com/osteoarthritis/page4.htmMedicineNet.com is an online, healthcare publishing company, owned and operated by part of the WebMD network. WebMD is nationally recognized and produced by over 70 U.S. Board Certified and working physicians. They have provided comprehensive, trustworthy, and educational information to consumers via this website since 1996. This website is promoted toward the general public to provide easy-to-understand information about many various diseases, prognosis, effects and treatments. It is strongly believed by the producers that they are here to provide this content as an education for those who are curious, have more questions after a consultation with their personal physician, and to provide the knowledge that many average people do not know about their health. Because their purpose is to provide integrated, easy-to-access, read and understand information, they take special precautions in their advertisements so as not to persuade any person towards a product, special treatment, or even any particular doctors. They review sponsors, and advertisements allowed on their website, and they also take special precautions on whom they allow to be a MedicineNet author. Every author must meet requirements and be reviewed themselves. There is a list of doctors that have helped produce this website, background information about them, what their specialties are, and what their role was in this website. Overall, this website is a reliable source, one trusted and recognized nationally that many can find useful in their everyday questions about personal health. MedicineNet.com relates to anatomy and physiology of the body because it deals with the degeneration and eventual loss of joint cartilage. Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative arthritis commonly affects hands, feet, spine, and large weight-bearing joints. Primary osteoarthritis refers to an unknown cause of this disease, and secondary osteoarthritis refers to a known cause. Primary osteoarthritis can be caused primarily by aging, but also heredity, and inflammation due to repetitive use of the joints. Secondary is caused by obesity, surgery, trauma, gout, diabetes, congenital abnormalities and some other hormone disorders. The breakdown happens when the water content increases and protein makeup decreases. Repetitive use causes inflammation, joint pain and swelling. When the cartilage degenerates, it causes friction between your bones because there is nothing there to protect or cushion them. It leads to incredible pain, limitation of joint mobility, and can also stimulate new bone outgrowths (spurs) to form around the joints. Although this disease does not affect organs, or muscles, it can cause pain in other parts of the body when outgrowths form around your spine irritating spinal nerves. Although there is not treatment that can stop this disease, it is important to pay attention to signs of this disease and take pre-cautionary measures because if not, it can cause incredible pain, and limitations in mobility in your everyday life. The two best things about this website is the About Us section, http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=12510 and the professional appearance of this website. I really liked the About Us section because it gives an in-depth idea of who produced this site, what they are about and what their motives are. It gives valuable information about the doctors who have played a part in the development and what it takes to become one of their authors. I found this section to provide a great comfort in knowing that this information has been reviewed, is for an educational purpose only, and is not used to persuade you in any way towards a product, treatment or specific doctor. I liked the professional appearance because once again, it gives you a sense of reliability in their content. The 2 worst things about this website is the vastness of information they provide, and the fact that I was not able to go to the particular section I was on ( http://www.medicinenet.com/osteoarthritis/article.htm ) unless I searched osteoarthritis from a Google search engine. Although I liked that they give a ton of info about many other things, it can be confusing at times to see an enormous amount of different info on the same subject and many others. Rachel, nice job. You do a really good job in the beginning of presenting your websites and telling us what to expect and who is posting each one. I would say the three of them--webmd, uptodate and medicinenet--take a similar approach in providing a good solid overview of the disease. You might choose revolution health.. and focus on one of the osteoarhritis stories--to review as your minor website. LF

Medicine Net
I was not sure what osteoarthritis was, this website answered all my questions and I have a better understanding of the cause, symptoms, treatments and diagnosis. The diagrams helped in understanding the differences between a normal joint versus osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
I really did not find anything worse about this website.
Web MD
This was another very informative website about the disease. I especially like the hot topics in osteoarthritis and being able to talk with others and get answers to questions that come up when people have a disease.
I liked everything about this website nothing worse to report.
Revolution Health
I like the idea around this website being able to communicate with others is a great way of reaching out to support. There is still informative information such as treatment and explanation of the disease.
The only thing that I did not like was the big empty space, giving the readers the impression they did not finish there site.
Patients uptodate
This is a great website to educate those with osteoarthritis, full of great news on remedies to better their condition. This website has a great way to organize topics by using an outline format to answer questions. I t is very user friendly for those that just want to research information quick.

Medicine Net Good site that answers the pertinent questions on osteoarthritis. Even has a glossary and index for people like me that need extra explanations and meanings. Web MD Good site thats a lot like the MedicineNet site. I especially liked the page about joint cracking. Revoltion Health I liked this site because you can post your own story about osteoarthritis and people can respond to it. Up to Date Very extensive coverage of osteoarthritis and its all on one page. No searching around. I like that.

Medicine Net.com The two best things about this website are the wealth of information about Osteoarthritis and the visual images. It goes back to what we have learned in class and you can see that clearly here. The worst thing is I dont see resources for help for people with this condition.
WebMD This website seemed really organized and thorough and I couldnt find anything bad.
Revolution Health This looks like a good website to network with others in similar circumstances. It looks like a good support network and it has links to Osteoarthritis websites.
Up to Date I like the straightforward approach that you can just scroll down through the information with the quick links to the side. It is very easy to navigate and has a lot of information. I like that it talks about alternative therapies.

Medicine Net This website is put together very well. It has info regarding the symptoms, treatment, causes and how to diagnose osteoarthritis. I learned the difference between osteoarthritis, bone ends rub together because of the thinned cartilage and rheumatoid arthritis, which is swollen inflamed synovial membranes. I cant find anything negative about this website, very informative.
Web MD - Good information about osteoarthritis. It also has hot topics, for example, surgery to help with joint pain, medications that help and is it harmful to crack your knuckles? Another positive thing is a link to talk to others with osteoarthritis. Also, has links for common treatments that give great detail about each. My dad has bursitis and rheumatoid arthritis so Im going to have him look at this website to see if it can help him understand both better.
Revolution Health It is nice to read personal stories about osteoarthritis because it is a great place for people to share information and not to feel alone. It also has links to information about osteoarthritis, symptons, treatments, living with osteoarthritis and a biweekly newsletter people can sign up to get.
Patients uptodate Website had information for nonpharmacologic therapies to help with osteoarthritis which is helpful for those patients that dont want to take drugs, gives some other options. It gives different drug information, treatments, surgery and where to get further information. It is a good place for information.

http://www.medicinenet.com/osteoarthritis/page4.htmI chose this website because it includes all of the various questions I had in mind when choosing this topic. It seems very reliable due to the privacy policy, it gives you an idea about the website in the link about us in the upper right hand corner. Being that it is a website nationally recognized and produced by board-certified physicians, I feel like it is very safe and trustworthy information. http://www.webmd.com/osteoarthritis/guide/...itis-overview-factsI chose this website because not only does it give you information about osteoarthritis, it gives you complications of it, causes, risk factors, personal stories, treatments, symptoms, types and many other useful information related to osteoarthritis. WebMD is a widely known website in the medical field, but not only are they a website, they have a magazine. I trust this source because as I have worked for a doctor, I know that he has read and used them to help him out with many complications of dermatology. He has recommended this magazine to me before because he trusts their information. That makes me more comfortable knowing that a working doctor trusts this source as well. http://www.revolutionhealth.com/stories/arthritis/osteoarthritisThis website I found to be interesting because of the various personal stories of how people are coping with the stress of having osteoarthritis, and what new things they are doing to remain active. I think that if you were to have osteoarthritis, it would be nice to read because it gives you a supportive feeling knowing that you are not the only one feeling the pain of having this problem. At the bottom of the page, it explains that the website of produced by Revolution Health Group LLC. It gives you a privacy policy and terms of service being that it is a website you can create your own username and post messages and stories yourself. http://patients.uptodate.com/topic.asp?file=arth_rhe/7650I also like this website because it gives you a plethora of information about osteoarthritis including alternative treatments and new information about it is posted. At the top of this website it explains that all the information has been through peer review which is good up to May2007, it also says when the website has last been modified giving you an idea of how up-to-date this website really is. It is produced by UpToDate Patient information and gives you some associated institutions. I also liked that it is both user friendly, and helpful at the same time.

My choice for Osteoarthritis is because a very close friend of mine has it severly. It has debilated many aspects of her life and I was curious to know if there are any solutions to it, what are the causes, risk factors, and how can you relieve some of the pain that comes from having it?
This topic is related to our class because we just learned about bone tissue and some related issues.
