Hello, We appear to have been discovered by a spammer or two. I've locked down both the Trying QuickTopic and NELMS Facilitators and Moderators discussion threads. If you want to post to these you will have to sign in. I will leave it up to the folks watching over the other NELMS discussions on whether you want to require sign on or not. If you do please let me know. Also if you want a message removed we can do that. Good luck, Steve

Hi!
At the NELMS Tech Committee yesterday, we were talking about the possible usefulness of finding a number of "seed people" who would be willing to post once a week or so, to help keep conversations moving while we are building interest and membership in the discussion groups. Does that idea make sense to y'all? If so, would it be a good idea to use this list to exchange ideas for people who might want to get involved in such a way? Thanks!
Take care, Bill Ivey Stoneleigh-Burnham School (moderator "Student Voice in the Middle")

Yes, I think having seed people to post weekly is a great idea. The conversation has not really started in some of my dicsussion groups that I am facilitating. Anything to get things going would be helpful.

Hi!
So how do we go about finding these seed people? We moderators may have some contacts. I can think of one other advisor in my school who might want to join the advisory chat, for example. I wonder about getting in touch with Spotlight Schools and requesting their help. Perhaps some of us are involved in other online groups and know specific people to invite, or would want to issue a general invitation. How do these ideas sound? Do they inspire other ideas?

I realize that this topic is not covered by any of the current QuickTopics, but I thought I would post this in hopes of getting some advice.
The Richmond Middle School (6-8) in Hanover, NH, has a student population of 400 and a total staff population of 70. We currently have only one building administrator - the principal. The principal does all staff evaluation and supervision and all student discipline, as well as the normal administrative duties.
We are discussing the addition of an assistant principal position, but are also interested in looking at other models of administrative leadership.
Can anyone steer us in the right direction?
Thanks, Jim Nourse

Hi!
Many independent schools have an Academic Dean and a Dean of Students, who are responsible respectively for the academic and social life of the school.
Take care, Bill

We are hoping to be able to generate some additional traffic here by encouraging participation by Spotlight School people, beginning in the New Year. This should, in turn, eventually lead to more people in general posting as well as reading. So we as moderators can be thinking of ways to help stimulate conversations when we get back from our well-deserved vacations. Till then, have a great break! Take care, Bill
