Erin, interesting topic and nice sites. In your description of each site, you want to include who posted the site and why they posted it.

I like the sciencedaily site with its videos--one or two of those could be great to review as a lesser or minor site. Then you might want to be sure to do one of the big organiztions, like the skin cancer foundation, for your major site review. Your peers have done a great job of providing some specific feedback on the site and I have nothing to add there.

Allison Donahue Web Site Review

Site #1- I found it neat that they have sites for diagnosis of the disease. I really didn’t think that there was any detail into the actual disease, only diagnosis.

Site #2- This website is important in the fact that it detail up and coming treatment and news about the disease. It is important to know exactly how progress is advancing in treatment. I found that the video and images help people diagnose their disease as well as early detectment, which aids in their survival. There wasn’t a lot of detail in the basics of what the disease is though.

Site #3- This site seemed to have the most useful information on the topic. It also had links where people, can donate to help the cause.

Site #4- This site does well with the pairing of information along with personal stories of fighting the disease. I am sure that it gives many people a window of hope as they deal with this devastating disease.

Dermatology site:

I liked that it showed pictures and that's cute it includes kids as an audience. I really wasn't too keen on this site. Not enough info, too basic.

Sciencedaily site:

It was way cool to see all the videos offered about different cancers. I liked the fact that it gives plenty of references also. There really wasn't anything about scc on this page. It was a little overwhelming with a lot of information.

Skincancer org site:

This was my favorite. It gave all the information about SCC and it was easy to find my way around the site. I don't have a negative comment about this site because if i were somebody who was going through this I wouldn't be searching for a personal base website right away, I would be looking for the facts first. Strong work Erin!

Guide for living site:

I liked that it was personal stories. I also like that it gives me the opportunity to contact the people who is telling the story. Um...well since I have to give a dislike, um I dislike the site because it makes it sound like the sun is the devil...lol. And they sound very angry talking about skin cancer facts.

http://www.skincancer.org/squamous/index.php I found this website to be very informative and felt that it gave a lot of good and useful information regarding this type of cancer. It was very in-depth and thorough. I did not find anything wrong with the information presented in this particular website, and I felt that, since the information comes from the Skin Cancer Foundation, it could be trusted.
Guide4Living: I liked that this website held personal accounts from people who have actually had skin cancer. The website appears to be focusing on melanoma in general instead of the type of skin cancer that you chose to focus on. The personal stories are a good thing to have in your research, and the website does have tabs on the side where you can learn more about the medical aspects of what causes skin cancer, etc.
ScienceDaily: I found the fact that this website has so many different videos to browse through and the amount of information presented to be very helpful. The website is a little hard to navigate at first, simply because there is so much information to process, but all in all I found it to be a very good website.
Skin Cancer (www.dermatology.co.uk) I was impressed by the layout of this website. I especially liked the fact that if you drag the mouse across words, the website will give you an easy-to-understand definition for the word so that you don’t have to have a dictionary sitting next to you while you read. I liked the website’s “no promotion, no advertising” policy. I felt that overall this is an okay source, but I think that it would have been even better if the site had more information on the specific type of cancer that you chose. It also would have been better if the articles that it does have on squamous cell carcinoma were longer and more informative.

Dermatology.co.uk: Site #1

I liked that this site provided the defnition of words as you read through the description of the skin cancer. You didn’t have to look anything up in a glossary separately. In addition, I like the face that the site holds a “no promotion, no advertising policy.” I also thought it was neat that they have a section devoted to kids. I disliked that some of the information seems too general. I wish they had more information specifically on this type of cancer, and not just skin cancer in general.

Science Daily: Site #2

I liked that it contains information on practically anything you could think of, and it has numerous videos on almost every form of science. I disliked that the website seems a little overwhelming at first with such an abundance of information thrown at you at once. Also, it was a little difficult to find specific information.

Skin Cancer: Site #3

I think this site provided the best overall description of Squamous Cell Carcinoma, and it had a ton of pictures! The only negative thing I could see about the site was that it perhaps seemed a little more medical based and less personal.

Guide For Living: Site #4

I really like that this site offers personal stories and support groups. On the other hand, I didn’t like the fact that it seemed not medically based, but only support-oriented.

I really liked this site because it offered so many neat things on how to treat your skin and face after going through skin cancer. It also has some really cool pics and some cool things for kids to look at as well.

I found this web site on skin cancer And found it to be useful. It shows all types of how to and treatment options’ for avoiding skin cancer and how to treat it. I also liked how the web site offers good advice on keeping your kids safe while in the sun. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did… http://www.skincancer.org/squamous/index.php

I also found this site on personal stories with people dealing with skin cancer. It offers some very touching and personal life stories. There are also some good sites on support groups.

I chosen this topic because it seemed inventing and living in Arizona and working in the emergency room, I see a lot of skin cancer patients. With over 200,000 new cases a year squamous cell carsanoma is the fastest growing skin cancer.
