The second website review on the 5-W questions, small website review?
Anyways, I like how you explained the website in your review, it's very informative. However, I have to agree with the others, there's no real WHO and WHY they posted the website. Maybe giving further details on the topics offered too and small descriptions.

The Mayo Clinic Website (Larger review}
Good review, but nothing on how it relates back to A&P, it does cover the brain and some functions of the brain if damaged, but you didnt relate it specifically to A&P ..hope this helps :)

Also, no sub page links on either site

Missing: I think you are missing a lot of information on both reviews, but especially on your larger review which I am assuming is the Mayo Clinic review. 1st- the Who and Why. 2nd - You have not included any sub-page links from your larger website review and 3rd - I think you should research a little more and see how you can relate concussions back to the basics of A&P. I would assume that motor nerves, and especially axons play a part in a concussion some how.

I thought the review was easily read and I especially liked the grades of concussions.

Again, I would like to see how concussions relate back to A&P. Even though the brain hasn't been fully covered, there must be more to a concussion than the brain itself.

The 5-W Questions on Concussions

      http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/mildheadinjury.html
I think that your review for this website misses "WHO is posting the website, WHY you believe they are posting the websites" and "what aspects of the body’s functioning or physiolgoy are important for understanding the health or well-being issue that your website is dealing with." Also, I think that you need one more best feature. I would like suggest that you change "i" to "I".

Concussions in A Nut Shell

I think that you missed same things as your review for "The 5-W Questions on Concussions". and I also think that you need to check your spelling sudh as "ste" for "site."
But I like your detailed summary which makes me feel like I am looking at the website.

The 5-W Questions on Concussions

      http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/mildheadinjury.html

I think this site is good but short. I think it contained a good amount of information even though i do not agree with the information given. I think that the overall information was well written but I do have a different opinion on the scale this website uses.
A concussion is one of the most common head injuries but the least serious although a concussion can be very dangerous if precautions are not taken.
Symptoms can be the number 1 key to telling if someone is suffering from a concussion. Certain symptoms include:
               Headache
               Dizziness
               Amnesia
               Nauseousness
              ringing in the ears
In some cases pupils with be unequal and symptoms will usually worsen within the first 20 min to 48 hours.
Also among concussions, women usually do worse that men when suffering from a concussion and younger people generally recover better from concussions than middle aged to older people.
There are different grades for concussions. Of course each place may have a different standard. For example, Grade 1 is the least server and "involves only confusion," Grade 2 involves anterograde amnesia that lasts less than 5 min. as well as confusion, Grade 3 involves the symptoms above as well as retrograde amnesia and unconsciousness lasting less than 5 min. Grade 4 involves all the above symptoms as well as unconsciousness between 5 and 10 min. Lastly there is Grade 5 concussions. This includes everything in a grade 4 plus unconsciousness lasting longer than 10 min.
Patient suffering from a concussion that plays sports have certain recommendations to follow. These include; grade 1- return to the sport in 20 min. A patient suffering from their second grade one concussion may return to the sport in 2 weeks after being asymptomatic for a week. In Grade 2, the patient may return to the sport in 1 week of being asymtomatic but if the patient has a grade 2 concussion for the second time they may return to playing their sport 1 months after being asymptomatic fora week. In a grade 3, the patient may return to contact sports in 1 month but with a patient who has suffered from a second grade 3 concussion, their season is over.
Post concussion syndrome symptoms for not resolve for weeks sometimes or even months to years. Rest and physical therapy can help in the healing process.
This website relates to A & P on how the brain works and what damages can occur. The part in A & P we are in now has not covered the brain itself but the skull.
I think 2 best features of this site is how well the site is organized by topics. I enjoy that the site is small but contains a large amount of information. A enjoy being able to scroll down and see the topics being talked about. One thing about this website i do not like is how much info have a lot of information can be in this site that isn't. There is a lot of information on concussions that could be used. Other than that i was pleased by this site.

Concussions in A Nut Shell

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/concussion/DS00320

The website being reviewed here is the Mayo Clinic. The Mayo Clinic website is filled with numerous topics including the one I chose on concussions. The site gives 9 different topics or key points to explore when learning about concussions. I think this is a wonderful site It has a lot of good information on it and it's a good all around trusted website.

The website is split into different topics based on what people may want to know about the topic of concussions. Concussions are are any where to very mild to being a very severe case. A concussion is where the brain is being interfered with. When the concussion is so severe it may take weeks to months before the brain is functional 100% again. Concussions can result in unconsciousness but that is not always the case.

a number of signs and symptoms happen when someone gets a concussion. Although, not all symptoms appear, let alone right away. Symptoms and signs include:
Headache
Dizziness
Ringing in the ears
Nausea or vomiting
Slurred speech
Symptoms and signs as mentions don't always come right away. Some of those are:
Sensitivity to light and sound
Sleep disturbances
mood and cognitive disturbances
Concussions are usually some what easily recognizable in young children, teens and adults but can be very difficult in toddlers and infants. Some symptoms and signs to recognize:
irritability
crankiness
tiring easily
change in eating or sleeping patters
lack of interest in favorite toys
loss of balance
unsteady weakening
The cause of a concussion is quite similar. A blow to the head, with enough force can do a lot of damage. The brain is forced in a direction and then hit against the walls of the skull causing bleeding perhaps.
There are certain risks you have to watch out for when dealing with concussions. Protective equipment such as air bags can help keep a concussion from being to severe. What some people may not understand is that those who have had concussions before are more likely to get one again.
Some people may be confused on when to seek medical advice for the concussion. A person/ patient should seek medical attention if symptoms are shown:
Prolonged headache or dizziness
vision disturbance
Nausea or vomiting
Impaired balance
prolonged memory loss
ringing in the ears
 lost of smell or taste.
When diagnosing a concussion, a number of questions will be asked along with testing. When you test for a concussion the physician or athletic trainer would test nerve damage. such as smiling, feeling, balance, touch, hearing as well as vision.
Complications can cause damage later on. if a patient has had multiple concussions there more like it to have neurological damage.
Preventing concussions can be wearing protective gear, having protective equipment in your car, as well as many other ways. Not all concussions can be prevented but the severity of them can be reduced.
As mentions in the last website review, the brain has not quiet been covered yet Although the one thing I can say is that when hit in the head the brain hits the wall of the skull causing damage.
The best two feature of this website are organzied of the site and how easy assessable it is to get to each topic. The other feature i really liked about this ste is how easily the site was to find through google.
The two featured of the website I don't like is how the page didn't just go down; it changed the page every new topic. The other feature I did not like was cluttered the site was. The site had little information on each page but was cluttered with junk.

MIchelle, interesting topic and websites.

Please realize that your first two are really separate pages of the Mayo Clinic website, which would make a great major website to review. The eMedicine site is also very complete with lots of info as a major website.

I guess you could do the shorter article from Medic8 as a more minor website.

Both of the Mayoclinic websites are very informative and easy to navigate. The Mayoclinic is always a great resource.
The third website www.medic8 gave useful information, I especially like the grades of concussion.
The fourth website www.emedicinehealth also had a lot of information and was very user friendly. All in all the websites chosen were great, However a real life story would have been a great addition.

1. Mayoclinic.com gave lots of useful information in an easy to read, access in an orderly fashion.

2.duplicate adress of the first.

3.Medic 8 include an pertinent information to a patient with a concusion, but was not as readily scanned as the mayoclinic address.

4. emedicine health was very infromative for a person with a concusion including home treatments for people unable to make to place to recieve the proper care of a doctor.

1. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/concussion/DS00320
Pros
A. The topic on “When to Seek Medical Advice”, I want to know what to watch for.
B. The Screening topic – gives information on when someone should have a CT scan.
Cons
A. The treatment topic is too short, could give some more information, what if a person has memory loss? Are there rehabilitation techniques?
B. Under Risk Factors, it states a person who has had a concussion is at risk for more…why? It needs more detail

2. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/concussion/DS00320
A. Same exact web IP address as one above

3. http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/mildheadinjury.html
Pros
A. I like the way the Concussions where explained in the “Grades of concussion”
B. Decent explanation of concussions and what to watch for
Cons
A. Nothing on rehabilitation
B. Paragraphs could be structured differently, what to watch for should be in a list format, makes it easier to find.

4. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/concussion/article_em.htm
Pros
A. I like the outlook topic, short term & long term side effects, give a person an idea of what to look out for.
B. Self Care at home is great, a lot of people would rather do as much as possible at home than put out time and money going somewhere for treatment.
Cons
Can’t find any, very informative and covers all bases

Wed Sites

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/concussion/DS00320

This website was created by Mayo clinic. It explains signs and symptoms, causes, risk factors, when to seek medical advice, complications, treatment and prevention. It gives a wide variety of information to the topic of concussions.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/concussion/DS00320

This website is similar to the one above but is a teen’s health site. It is a site that has everything you need to know about a concussion, what to do if you get one, what not to do if you get one. A lot of information is given on this site.

http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/mildheadinjury.html

This website is from the brain injury center hospital and doesn’t have a lot of information regarding post concussion trauma but has a lot of information on symptoms and grade concussion. I think this information will benefit me in the help of looking at how to identify a concussion.

http://www.emedicinehealth.com/concussion/article_em.htm

My last site contains a lot of good information. It does include a lot of information that the other sites contain but this site also includes treatment at home, tests, and outlook and author information. This site was created by e medical health and the authors are located on a section on the site.
