Thanks Arthur - I guess some people don't have anything better to do - more examples from bobby j and betsy
betsy - you sound clever - if you agree with jester then you better decide if I'm a snob or a pikey and if as you say you prefer the Daylight or the Sovereign which jester seems to think is OK (you seem to agree on a lot don't you!)
Are you a pikey then? If you live in Petts Wood then obviously you are and if you don't then you choose to come and drink in the Daylight with all the pikeys from Petts Wood.
Why don't you use the internet more constructively like trying to find out what Camra stands for rather than making yourself sound like you missed out on an education ?
I am glad that you obviously don't know me either - perhaps you should try and get a life as well instead of staying in on a Friday night playing on your PC.
I wont insult you with what I imagine you look like but you aren't very good at guessing about me and by the way I drink in the Daylight - see you around.

I'm with Jester and Bobby J. Everyone in P.W ARE pikeys, especially James. Anyway, whats camras got to do with anything? I reckon James is just a big perv with a big beer belly. I still like the Daylight, 'cos there aren't as many tossers in there.

Jester - thanks for your reply - most helpful.
You are probobly one of the tossers who convinced me to stop going to the Sov.
You obviously don't know me (thank God) as I never drink lager (not larger you prick) I only drink real ale and am a member of Camra so why don't you stop assuming you know everything and go back to school to learn how to spell.
Also why don't you try and get a life instead of being a geek and playing with your PC on a Sunday night ?

Has anybody had trouble with the newest Kitchen fitters in Petts Wood (Blunstone Parase) ?
We are still waiting for work to be completed and an answer to my letters. Please let me know.
Also how is the Sovereign these days ? - I boycotted the pub in Devember due to too many fights and under age drinkers and the staff tried to throw you out at 11.01 pm (I understand Rob the Manager has now left)

Has anyone received a gas bill following a meter reading showing a consumption of 3284 cubic feet resulting in a charge of Stg. 1,314.88. This amount includes the consumption between 10/10/01 and 15/10/01 i.e from the end of the period of the previous estimated bill to the date when the meter was read which should be negligible.
For the period 3/10/00 to 3/1/01 the estimated bill was within pounds of the actual consumption and the following bills were estimated (although have not yet checked every bill) .
The estimated latest bill is nigh spot on with the actual consumption and gives a consumption of 719 cubic feet, a period which covers a cold spell and will therefore give an indication of the highest consumption of gas for the year. We only use gas for heating water and is only running for periods generally of a few hours for twice a day (morning and evening).
If this bill is correct then the only conclusion is that each of the 3 bills from 3/1/01 up to 10/10/01 were each inaccurate by about Stg 438 or that one or two were sky high. On the basis of my current consumption of 719 cubic feet, giving a charge of Stg 296.89 it can be seen that each bill was uncharged twice as much as my highest consumption in the winter months of the year and during the time when consumption would be at its lowest.
Can anyone offer any idea for such an excessive consumption or have had the same experience after a meter reading?

I agree Force 9, graffiti defaces and devalues Petts Wood. You have only to look as far as Chislehurst to realise they are on the verge of losing the battle. In fact 3 of the P.A.L.'s(Petts Wood residents Against Litter and graffiti) went to Chislehurst before Christmas to tell them about our scheme as they wanted to do the same there. There are over 60 residents taking part in the removal of litter and graffiti from Petts wood but more are still needed. If residents want a decent area to bring up their kids and walk the streets safely they need to take an active part,no matter how small! they can join this movement by contacting a committee member or coming to our clean up of the alleyways at The Close (off St.John's Road) @ 10am 12/01 or Petts Wood Station @ 10am Sunday 13/01. Did you know Safeways are donating £400 to our cause.

Can I please ask for help with the efforts currently being made to keep Petts Wood graffiti-free. There are a small number of us at present and who feel that we can beat this menace. But I am sure that there must be many more folks out there who feel the same and wouldn't mind either reporting or removing graffiti when it appears. The more there are of us the less effort required.

My husband and I will definitely be at the meeting at Crofton Junior School on the 30th January 2002. The council tax is an absolute disgrace - the situation has arisen due to the Lib/ Lab partnership that was in power on Bromley Council for three years. Thankgoodness the two local elections in Chelsfield and Mottingham following the General Election last year returned the power to the Conservative Group. CAROLE BOWMAN

Have your say at Crofton Junior School at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 30/1. Council officers and councillors from all parties will be there.

/m3 and when is Petts Wood railway station's glass enclosed seating area(s) going to be repaired with new glass or perspex or wired glass? One of the reasons the glass is prone to vandalism is train time tables. When will the train service be in tune with the reality of the public's travel requirements? Just ask when the last train runs from Petts Wood?

No! skateparks are not just used in the summer. you are just trying to find as many ways as you can to give the idea the elbow, anyway if the park was built properly there would be these things called lights which light up the dark! Why should money be spent on doing up the parks why dont you and some friends get togaither and go down the park and make it look better yourself you obviously have nothing other to do part for moan. You honestly think that a sk8park is going to be built on gravel it has to be made properly, so it would be appreciated if you stopped pretending you knew something about the topic as you clearly dont!

Its really good that the residents of Petts wood are pulling together and getting rid off the grafitti. It has become an I saw, but I know it will come back soon. How is the Skate park coming on any luck for you? Skating is good, but it is sort lived you cannot skate in the winter it is too dark and too cold. its only a summer thing, right? is it worth building a skate park wouldnt better money spent on Ensford Rec and willet Rec you can build a skate park in Ensford there is that massive gravel/concrete square nearthe stables. revive the parks and make them more attrive for everyone. and not just for dog oners and parents lumbered with toddlers who have finished nursery and have run out of ideas where to thake there kids next.

well the park will be built wherever but probably not there, as we are currently in discussion with the council and i personally dont think that is a good place to build the park but as you dont as of yet know what the park is going to be like then i dont blame you for thinking that is a good place but maybe the old dairy would be a good place for an inside park if it was refurbished.

There is only really one place the skate park can be built and that is in Willet Rec. There is nowhere else for it to go. There is the 'Old Garage' in Fairway, but too many neighbours would complain. I nither sk8 or blade, but I sometimes just use my sk8 board to get to A to B. Have you read in the Newshopper Cray Valley no has CCTV, when will be it our turn.

Re: Skatepark. I am currently in discussion with the council about building a skatepark in this part of the Borough. In the meantime all you skaters go into Urban Chaos in Bromley and sign their petition for a skatepark. i'm 15 and i posted a topic in the message board a few days ago about building a sk8 park in petts-wood u may moan and say it would vandalised but how have u ever seen a skate park i mean i am a local skateboarder and i have seen a few parks in my time and if built properly the "youths" as you like to call us would have no need to vandalise it and graffitti only adds to the fun of the place i mean a sk8 park wudnt b a skate park without some graffitti and its getting kids away from doin it on walls i mean there are a lot of addvantages. as for the pikeys well theres no way to stop them from coming in but kids love sk8in even if it is to watch and if like most sk8 parks you have to pay to get in before say 9o'clock at night say 2/3 pounds then that wud take care of the up-keep. and as to enter you would have to pay then there could be an adult at the entrance taking the money and supervising the children at the same time. petts-wood is allways going to get vandalised untill there is something to take kids minds off of doin it and i think a sk8 park would be ideal much better than a yout club or something think about it. by the way if there are any sk8boarders in the petts-wood are reading this please contact me @ mayell2000@hotmail.com

The Daylight Inn is good better than the Sov because it has a much better atmosphere. CCTV would be great, but don't we need to have a certain amount of people populating Petts Wood like Bromley and Orpington is much bigger than us.

Wouldn't it be good if the company that ran the Daylight actually spent some money on it to make it a desirable place to go to. It's such a lovely building from the exterior - and just horrible when you get inside ! Perhaps a small internet cafe would be a good idea for the 'nice' teenagers - and wouldn't CCTV be a good idea too, to stop the creeping crime from areas that now have this installed ?

Very well having a skate park now is trendy and fashionable. But later when something new comes in we are going to be left with a waste land. I strongly believe a skate park will be vandlised and bring in all the unpleasent teenagers from the surrounding areas. Look at what happened to the half-pipe behind Skate City in Bromley, it got burnt down!!!! Also checking ID in pubs you notice its only when schools break up for the holidays. I have notice the Soverign of the Seeas empty when police turn up because over half of the pub is under age. I fully believe that the Daylight has got it right.

I reckon a skate park would go down really well as that seems to be all the rage at the moment doesn't it. I agree that 'youths' need somewhere to call their own in a community. There is little doubt that somewhere like that would be covered in graffiti in no time but at least there is a chance that the graffiti would be confined to one area. As for under-age drinking, the only way to stop it is to encourage the pubs to check ID.

Is anyone else concerned at the dilapidated and dangerous state of Victoria Works (the old Dairy). From Iceland Car park you can see the vandalism that has occured over the last few months. I have been in contact with the council and with the owners over the last few years, as I would like to see this used as a facility for our young people of Petts Wood. What do you think?

I completely agree here. This may seem unconnected, but in Japan this idea is the norm. I lived very near the school when I went there, but I know still the roads are lethal in Petts Wood, I fully suport this idea and and would like to think my friends who now have children in Petts Wood would agree. Go for it Jennie, if you insist - it will happen ... let me know when you succeed

Is there anything that can be done to improve the crossing facilities on Manor Way, particularly between the railway bridge and the junction with Fairway. I often see parents with their children dicing with death during the heavy 'school run' periods, and in an age where walking to school is being promoted, shouldn't Bromley Council be 'doing their bit' by providing a crossing?
