Forty people enjoyed dinner at the Cranberry Island Community Center on Valentine's Day! Mark's beef stroganoff, served over noodles, was a tasty entree, served with Caesar salad and honey-glazed carrots and homebaked biscuits and rolls. The dessert selection was a chocolate lover's dream - rich brownies, heart-shaped chocolate cakes, red velvet cake with whipped cream frosting, chocolate-filled mini cream puffs and a strawberry-chocolate bavarian. No one went away hungry! Off-island guests were Judy & Roger Blake, Aislyn McCafferty, Michael Richman, Polly Moran, Sophie Dowling's Gramma B.J., and a lovely young lady from Machias who was visiting Phillipe Donald. Thanks to everyone who helped to set up, clean up, cook and serve - thanks to the biscuit, roll and dessert bakers - thanks to head chef Mark Alley - thanks to all who came and ate - thanks to Barbara Stainton for her presentation on her recent journey to Antartica - thanks to Ruth Westphal for making a patchwork valentine balsam sachet for a door prize - the prize was awarded to our youngest guest, Sophie Dowling.

Over 20 people ventured out on the cold evening of January 17th to share a delicious potluck dinner at the Cranberry Community Center. A variety of casseroles and desserts was well complemented by salads and biscuits. No one went home hungry! Several lively games of Bingo were enjoyed - a great array of prizes was available for the winners' perusal and choices. Many thanks to Barbara Meyers and Mark Alley for planning and organizing the event, to Junior Bracy for his excellent Bingo calling and to all who cooked and attended!

A reminder to Cranberry Island folks - please join us on Saturday morning (Jan. 24th) for a coffee hour at the Community Center from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. A Ladies Aid meeting will follow.
