Not much in the DMM about Electronic RR. Can also be used by bulk mailers. (PUB 80). Available at most post offices. I'll have to see if more info. is some where else.
"Return Receipt (Electronic) provides a copy of the proof of delivery record via email when requested online. This service is available for purchase at the time of mailing with Certified Mail™, Insured Mail, Collection on Delivery (COD), and Registered Mail™."

They have electronic return receipt printed on their envelope + they pay less. All we do is round stamp the receipt from the certified and send it back to them. We dont do anything with the certified itself. I am not sure if that company does something with it before we get it or not. I just knwo we dont do anything with it as far as scanning. I have sold the electronic return receipt with POS before though, and that is just a matter of pushing a button.

Yeah.... I'm trying not to be a board hog here by being the only one with questions, that's why I deleted the message. ^*^*^.......So......Why can't a manual office provide the electronic RR service the postal service offers ? We have hand held scanners and we upload scans on them throughout the day.
pmr2ptf..........that's interesting. Are you in a manual office ? How do you know the company is using the electronic RR, by how much postage they are paying per letter ?

The electronic return receipt works like this: You can only get it at offices that have IRT or POS equipment, not at manual offices. When the person buys it, you type in or scan in the Certified or whatever number. Then the customer can go to usps.com, the Track & Confirm area, type in the article number, and they will have an option to have an email sent to them with a .pdf attachment which is the scan of the 3849 that was made when the article was delivered.

I have changed p o box locks in the past. Heck, I have even painted the drop box outside the post office and replaced the labels and decals. Not sure if it's still done but maintenance was glad to send me any supplies like the spray paint and labels/decals to improve the post office; that way maintenance would have more time to work at the larger post offices.
Forgot to mention.....it saved the USPS $$$$ too.

With all of these eBayers I want to know who does what when an insured parcel is received damaged. sender vs. recipient. Well you know, when the insurance receipt is on one end and the parcel is on the other end......I know we need the receipt to file the claim and we need to see the damaged parcel. Either one (sender/recipient) can probably file the claim but I want to see it in writing!!
