Hi William,
Thanks for asking about the bulbs and web site, I think you are the first.
Dumfries & Galloway Council (Parks Department) have not responded to my questions or request for a diagram of where planting can take place and nobody has requested any bulbs. In fact, yours is the only response I have received regarding anything to do with Wigtown in Bloom. So, if you have any suggestions...
Coming soon - discount bulb sales, prices will appear here soon.

BRAVEHEARTS CHILDRENS' TRUST APPEAL Dear Wigtown Readers, I NEED YOUR HELP! Firstly, let me apologise for this NOT being news ABOUT Wigtown, but it is relevant, as NYK Media represents Wigtown on many other websites. The user known as 'hypnotoad' on the eBid online auctions has thrown down his gauntlet and challenged me. I have accepted his challenge and the deadline is dawn on 23rd November 2007. Should I succeed in this challenge, an extra £30 will be donated to Bravehearts Childrens Trust, who grant wishes for sick and dying children. All that I need of you for my challenge to succeed is to follow this link and VOTE. If you cannot click the link, copy it and paste it into your browser and then go vote, please. http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=98218 It will cost you nothing, I only need to raise a minimum of 80 votes in order to succeed and raise this cash, which I will personally make up to £50. I already have 34 votes - I need at least another 47. Voting is completely anonymous and it is a simple one click polling system. I ask you as friends, as neighbours, as associates, as fellow eBid members and as supporters of all that Cyberdosh stands for - the freedom to earn, and spend, as we like. Thank you. If you are not a member of eBid, you can join at http://www.cyberdosh.co.uk and then go to the forums, look for the KT (Kitchen Table) and then click on the link that says Poll, Polls, Polls... Thank you, in advance, to anyone who chooses to support this cause. PS: I still have a load of bulbs here if anyone needs some.

WIGTOWN NEWS UPDATESWith the help of some of the youths from Wigtown Youth Forum, we are hoping to be able to record progress of Wigtown's entry into the Beautiful Scotland competition next year by way of a dedicated website at www.wigtowninbloom.co.uk To date, a quantity of bulbs has been purchased and we are awaiting news of planting as soon as possible. Anyone with any suggestions as to where bulbs can still be planted, please leave a message here, as time is ticking on and it won't be long before it's too late. Has anyone any ideas about fundraising? Has anyone got any large planters that can be planted up and located within the town? If you have the place to plant them, we may have some extra bulbs. Last weekend was the monthly online charity auction event known as YDC (see http://www.scottishwebauction.co.uk for details). NYK Media fundraises for Bravehearts Childrens Trust. Many thanks to those of you who were kind enough to donate a few items / books. Overall, we managed to raise £171.90 which has now been forwarded to the charity. This week, the Christmas savers' shopping site was opened at http://www.ebid1.co.uk ALL items listed are being offered for £1.00 no reserve throughout the duration of the auction period. Grab yourself some seasonal bargains whilst there are some left! If you have any bargains for sale, you can also list them in the auctions, but please remember to include the code '1NR' in any titles so that they are picked up in the website. Once again, I'd like to remind you that this is a FREE public messageboard for use by anyone in relation to Wigtown. Feel free to post your news, special offers, updates or any other articles that you want to share but please post them via the site at www.wigtown.info and not by email reply. CYBERDOSH: Winners of last month's 'Search4treasure' cash prize competition were as follows: SIMON BARBER JO HOLMES PAULA SAVAGE BARBARA COUGHLAN Congratulations and good luck to anyone who takes part next time. Thank you, NYK.

Wigtown in Bloom Update
The first lot of bulbs have now been delivered, although I am not entirely sure where these are to be planted, as yet. I believe they are to be used for the planters and tubs that can be seen around the town. Anyone else interested in taking part in bulb planting, I hope to have the relevant contact details listed here very soon.
If anyone has any suggestions about where, in or around Wigtown, your feedback would be appreciated. Likewise, if there are any areas that could benefit from garden enhancement, are accessible and it is allowable to do so, let it be known either by posting a message or by suggesting it at the next meeting.
We have taken a look at several of the websites associated with other 'Beautiful Scotland' entrants and can see no plausible reason for not documenting the Wigtown project online. We already have the basis required to set up a complete website following on from the 2007 project, so any relevant news or photographs are always welcomed. Again, we hope to be able to bring you details of this soon.
William, do you really feel that the community would prefer not to have the involvement of the youths? Surely Wigtown would be at least one award less in the 2007 Wigtown in Bloom efforts had it not been for the work of young people such as yourself and Ryan? Perhaps it's just a case of not enough people knowing how and when they can help out and that, in doing so, they would be made to feel welcome as part of any team project. As an 'incomer' to this town, I may, of course, be wrong about this. I have no way of knowing how involved any sector of the community was in any of the projects that began previous to my moving here. I really hope that what you say is a misunderstanding, as it's the young people who should be looked upon as the future of Wigtown :)

Please do not respond directly to this bulletin via email. You can respond by visiting the news section of http://www.wigtown.infoWIGTOWN IN BLOOM and OTHER NEWSFollowing on from a recent meeting held in the County Buildings on 15th October, there was no final decision made regarding Wigtown's entry into the 2008 'Beautiful Scotland' competition. A second meeting has been scheduled for 6th November at 7pm, again in the County Buildings, when it is hoped there will be a good turn out and additional support for the project. Any change to this date or time will be posted here. ("Beautiful Scotland is the largest environmental campaign in Scotland for communities who are working to improve and enhance their local area.") This year, thanks to the excellent work carried out by junior members of the local community, Wigtown won the 'Special Endeavour' award after judges were impressed by the Seaview garden project. This will, hopefully, continue into next year and beyond. It is also hoped that we can encourage some of the local youths to participate in a new 'Wigtown in Bloom' website project whether or not the decision is taken to enter the official 2008 competition. I now have a copy of the 'entrants manual', which should make entry conditions, such as the portfolio, far easier to understand, prepare and collate. During the October 15th meeting, various figures were brandished in relation to the amount of cash invested into other towns and villages for the purposes of their participation in the Beautiful Scotland project. Wigtown, apparently, has very little (if any) financial support coming from Dumfries & Galloway Council and it is apparent that the overall decision to continue being a part of the 'Beautiful Scotland' campaign lies firmly in the hands of those individuals who strive to make and keep Wigtown a 'good' place to live. On this note, I would just like to say that at no point have I ever been sworn at, threatened or made to feel intimidated by any of these youths.
