Revive me! Weekly Reflections #32 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Pro 8:33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
Problem is there are so many ministers and instructors that do not do any thing or teach any thing of eternal value that we have turned a deaf ear on what God would say. We go from person to person, church to church, site to site, and program to program to receive relief from what binds us, and yet it doesn't dawn on us to take a direct route straight to God. He is the one with the answers. And He is the one who does not entertain, but who sets captives free.
Yet, you say I have done that and He is silent. God is not silent. We are deaf. We are in a rush for Him to speak, yet He even took 6 days to create when He could have done it with a blink of His eye. There is a lesson in creation even in that.
We are an impatient people. We are a society that was introduced to instant-on meals, and appliances, and technology. We have lost the ability to sit still and wait. I needn't account those Bible heroes who had to await God's promises to come to past, must I? We know by now that God will perform His Word. We know by now that He does give the only good counsel which is truly worth hearing. We know by now that He delights in instructing and guiding us. The question then is why are we so in a hurry that we jump at the first path offered to us and temporality lose the faith and trust in God that He is trying to build up within us? When you silence yourself before Him, He will instruct and guide you.
I go back to the first prayer ever written in this reflection series: Prayer: Lord God, I confess that I keep on doing the same things over and over which only brings about the same results over and over. Open my ears, eyes, and heart so that I might be open to You moving in a new way which will bring me the freedom that You desire for me. Amen God hasn't given up on you. Have you given up on Him? Fix your eyes steadfast upon the Lord this day.

Joh 1:12 But to as many as did receive him, to those who put their trust in his person and power, he gave the right to become children of God, Joh 1:13 not because of bloodline, physical impulse or human intention, but because of God. (CJB)
We have received Christ and have put Him on. We walk in grace by the will of God. We were ordained before the foundation of the world. God knew us and chose us as His very own children.
We read in verse 13 a very important Scripture for those waiting for deliverance. "Not because of bloodline, physical impulse or human intention, but because of God." When we realize it is God that sets us free and not our own impulse or will power, we glorify God because He is God. God is love. God has care and concern over you in your affliction. Christ paid the penalty for sin on the cross, in full, for that addiction you have. You can not cajole God to deliver you because of your bloodline, good works and standing, or good intentions. God sets you free because He is God.
Who can understand His vastness, His fullness and His power? Who can determine when He will move freely in your life and set you free? It will happen because He is Who He says He is. Your healing will be complete because God cannot deny who He is. Put your trust in His person and power. Be grateful that He is the one that wants your freedom, even more so than you do. Give Him praise, honor and glory, for He alone is worthy.
Gracious God, I often look upon my bondage as cries and pleas stored up in favor toward You and that it alone will cause You to move on my behalf. But You willed to choose me and call me Your own, and I trust in You that You alone have the perfect time and moment to set me fully free to sing Your praises. I offer You the sacrifice of praise this day. Amen

Mar 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Are we less burdened when we pray? Do we walk away from prayer with relief and gratitude? Do we believe and receive in that moment, or do we still turn away as beggars still unsure that God will do as He promised?
In no way does this verse promote instant gratification. It does not say what you have asked for will mystically drop into your lap. It enjoins you to believe and receive. There should be great relief knowing that God has heard and will grant your desire if prayed according to the pattern the Lord has laid out for us. Why does God encourage us to pray if His answer is always no or a lesson in futility? Why would our Lord devote so much time in further instructing us in the art of prayer if it were not to teach us the pattern of perfection? The lesson is to pray what is pleasing to God, believing it is His will to deliver it and thereby be glorified, and you shall have it met with much enthusiasm on your part.
If you haven't walked away from prayer less troubled than when you began communicating your needs to God, you have missed the simple instruction of this verse. If you have asked in sincerity to be freed from that which binds and afflicts you, would God not be honored in doing what is best for you, and His highest will that His people be free to serve no one but Him? The Lord says, "All things." Not frivolous things, so if some of your prayers for materialistic items have never come to pass, don't confuse it with spiritual things. It might well be His will to provide those things also, but His concern is with your spiritual life. Revive me! is about the soul and awakening. That is the "all things" He speaks of in this passage. God is Spirit and those that worship Him must worship in the Spirit. It is His will that you serve no other god but Him. That is a spiritual law. If you have asked for deliverance from that addiction or sin that has always come before obedience to God, you can believe He will perform recovery and that you do indeed have it. Now lay that burden down right now and thank Him for His mercy.
Lord, I can see that trust on my part must come into being. And then gratitude for You are Who You say You are. Thank You that I need not be overly anxious about the manifestation of my freedom, for Christ has won that victory on the cross already. Thank You, God Almighty. You are the One I place my faith, hope and trust in. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #29 ©www.christian-recovery.com 2 Chron 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. Take your positions. The Lord is with you. The battle is the Lord's. Don't fear. Don't be downhearted. Note that you have to go out and face your spiritual enemy, but it is the Lord who battles and wins the victory in your behalf. The advantage will be all our own, but the whole glory must be given to God. What faith it takes to stare firmly at our affliction and stand still. Never trembling not doubting, knowing that the Lord is going to be on our side and defeat our bondage on our behalf. We can fret and worry. We can listen to the testimonies of others and read the latest treatment options. But the bottom line is the Lord will be with you. Even in our moments of doubt. Even when our faith ebbs from us instead of flows forth from. God is with us. He is worthy. He is victor. He will do it. And we will learn to give the whole glory to Him. We will not rob Him of the testimony of this deliverance. We will not fail to tell others that God and God alone tore down the stronghold of opposition and conquered in our stead. Perhaps he is waiting for us to realize it. Perhaps today is the day when we take our position as an heir of the Most High God and go out tomorrow to realize our victory. Heavenly Father, what an image to see You defeat this enemy that has bound me for so long. I have at times thought that it is my great effort and will power that will free me, but I see You working out the successful ending of my struggle where I will be careful to give You all praise and glory and honor for my freedom. Thank You, loving God. Amen My commitment this week: ___________________________________________

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #28 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Rom 9:2 My grief is so great, the pain in my heart so constant. (CJB)
I may not be going in the direction with this passage as you might think I should. Right now your affliction and bondage is what could be you think is your constant companion. Not so with me. I have my imperfections but they are all being worked out to the eternal glory of God my Savior who is my only constant. I was reflective this morning on how He is and was the only steady force in my life. The only One I could count on to come through for me. The only One who loved me and did not reject me despite my flaws. The only One who consistently attempts to cheer me to fight the good fight of faith. Never once has He turned His back on me, despite my trying to flee at times from the reality of His purity and my startling lack of it.
So today choose to focus on the word constant as I did. I used to say depression was my constant companion since childhood. I used to say many things preceding bad news with the word constant. But as I sit here today in intimacy with God, it dawns on me that He indeed is the only Constant I have. I can count on Him for coming through. I might not appreciate my waiting and learning time, but He is the only One that will remain in my ever fluctuating life that I know I can run to for safety. Take the time to run to Him today and please Him by recounting all the marvels He has done in your life, and for all the yet to be. He has promised you freedom in Christ. Don't sell God short of the miraculous.
Prayer: Lord God, you are my constant. Help me to understand You will never fail or forsake me as others have. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #27 ©www.christian-recovery.com
1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
I am comforted knowing that this blessing comes from walking with the Lord, and as our spiritual Kingdom age increases, so does the truth of the aged Paul making this statement for us to reflect upon. In my inbox came this word today which I must pass on. It was written as Espanola friendly so I have taken the liberty to do a very few corrections for the English speaking. I know that for those of you that know you have the mind of Christ, yet struggle with addiction, will be blessed in hearing from God this very day.
"Rooster. My wife and I spent last night in east Texas. Quite early this morning, I stepped outside into the quiet of a fall morning in total silence. A few minutes later, I went back outside to retrieve something from my car. Three roosters began to crow in symphony. I had not heard roosters crow in a very long time. I asked the Lord, "What do You say about this?" He said, let it be said that this age has denied Me not once but over and over again. I have been reduced to a slogan or bumper sticker. You put other gods before Me and do not ascribe to Me Lordship or My being the one and true Sovereign God almighty. No Spirit-led worship comes from your lips. I say unto, repent while there is still a brief moment of time. Rooster. Matthew 26:75 "And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, "Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly."
Are we denying Christ by remaining in bondage? By repeating our affliction description over and over again, thus ascribing to it as a lord over us? Has our conscience become so dull that we can no longer hear the voice of God and not discern His mind instructing us to be holy as He is holy? Has our slavery become more important to us than Jesus' instruction? Are we really so comfortable with our addiction to the point that it is more familiar, more constant, and more reliable than what God should be to us?
It happens. We become complacent. We seek to escape from standing up and facing the truth in Christ. We hear the rooster crow, but we do not see Christ turn at look at us. (Lk 22:61) If you desire to be revived take a moment right now to stand up and face the truth. Look upon Jesus. With a glance He is saying something to you. He has the Power with but a glint to reveal His mind to you. What is it? What has He spoken to you?
Gracious Lord, I do have Your mind. I do know right from wrong. I do know that You are speaking right now. I do know that You will direct me with but a look from Your holy flame of fire eyes this week. I do know I choose to be set free. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #26 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Rev 3:12 'The one overcoming, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and by no means shall he go out any longer.
Jesus speaks that overcoming is possible. That should be our goal and what our eyes are fixed upon. He promises a reward for those who do. You shall be a pillar. We may have read that and placed no premium on it. In the ancient Greek world, it was customary to place a pillar in a temple in order to honor a dignitary. We become dignitaries in God's eyes and on His behalf. Further is the promise that we shall go out any longer. Once we overcome we are stable. We know the battle we have fought valiantly to win and we do not revert. We are a necessary component in God's temple. Others shall plainly see Whom we have served and why we are honored. Good reasons to overcome. Good reasons to not give up.
If you do not yet have the mindset to overcome for yourself, can you do it for God? Can you do it because others have their eyes and hope set upon you? Wouldn't it be delightful to think of yourself as a pillar and not a bruised reed? Wouldn't it be wonderful if others fled to you for strength, rather than away from you for fear that bondage is contagious? If you will but put forth the effort to overcome, the rewards are not imaginable today perhaps, but tomorrow they will be visible. They will be irrevocable. God will do what He promises. You must have the genuine desire. Working up the desire may be what is holding you back. A thought is not a desire. It is a thought. A desire implies action to achieve. Will you think of the difference and set forth a good display of genuine desire this week?
Lord, sometimes it is difficult to discern my motives. I should want to overcome for You, myself and others. Place within me the knowledge of the significance on me becoming an overcomer. Remove from me the negativity that hinders me from claiming this precious promise. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #25 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Heb 2:17 Wherefore it behooved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.
There is contained in these two passages from the KJV words that are not commonly used or understood. I have kept the language of the time this reflection as an illustration of how we have to stretch ourselves at times to understand God and what He is trying to convey on our pathway to freedom. He does everything possible to get our attention. If it motivates you to look up some of the words today for their precise meaning, fine. If not, fine also because I know you will still get the gist of this message.
Nothing that we suffer or sin by is uncommon to God. Jesus came in the flesh precisely to experience and overcome every temptation that is common to man. He did that, so to speak, to empathize with us, and also, by His perfect, Priestly example show us the way of escape. He nowhere promises that there will not be temptation or struggle. He does promise to relate and assist you.
Many believe that because they yet still have temptation or days of defeat that God has not delivered them. They mistakenly adopt the attitude, "Oh, why bother," and dismiss the thought of ever actually overcoming. They prefer to standstill or retreat in their thoughts as being in bondage rather than being a victor. Because God has not put a token and visible crown on your head, does not mean that you are not free. On the cross Jesus proclaimed, "It is finished." He paid the price in full and by His stripes you are healed. Temptation will always factor into your feelings, but it is not valid to keep repeating, "I am just worthless and helpless. This will never happen for me." It already has at the cross and when you change your mindset to say valuable and positive words about yourself, rather than degrading words about your condition, you will get the fullness of the meaning of Christ being faithful and merciful to your particular case. He cannot let you down. Start believing and trusting in His precious promises today. Put on victor mentality.
Lord Jesus, You are indeed faithful, even when I am not. You are indeed mighty, even when I am not. Never did you refuse the cross that the Father bid You to carry, for You knew it was for my redemption and for my healing. I accept that by Your stripes. and I thank You for the victory that I live. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #24 ©www.christian-recovery.com
2Ti 2:2-3 And what you heard from me through many witnesses, these [things] be committing to trustworthy people, who will be competent also to teach others. Therefore, you endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Hardly feel like a good soldier of Christ? Barely feel as if you can teach yourself let alone others? These two sentences might well sum up the Christian journey and the battle of recovery. Our affliction is with purpose. We suffer not alone as one abandoned. Our ache for now is to produce growth--in us and in others. We would have a zero based knowledge of unhealthiness if we did not experience it first hand. We could not give testimony as to how Jesus delivered us and the path that was taken to produce it. Let me say it again. We suffer not alone as one abandoned.
God knows full well our adversity. He knows full well what it takes to free us. He even knows the day down to the last hour. He knows that by trying us, he is making us a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Who ever joined the armed services to not wager a good war? And that is what you must do as you attack your bondage. It is for a purpose and its ultimate reason is so that you might glorify God in your (testimony) teaching to others. Can you begin to think of yourself as competent? Able? Complete? Whole? A witness of God's grace? If you can begin to think of your slavery to the flesh as only temporary and a teaching tool to enrich your walk in Christ, you will find your mindset one step closer to the freedom you seek. Be blessed and be a blessing.
Lord God, I do believe that You have a higher purpose for my life that I cannot yet envision. Help me to see with Your eyes and to understand with Your wisdom. Make me victorious through Christ Jesus. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #23 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Col 4:2 Be continuing earnestly in prayer; be staying alert in it with thanksgiving.
Col 4:17b Be seeing to the ministry which you received in [the] Lord, so that you shall be fulfilling it. (ALT)
Two short, easy, and straight to the point sentences on what you should be doing as you await your deliverance. No getting around it that these are not suggestions but rather an authoritative direction delivered for your well being and instruction today.
1) Do you continue in prayer, earnestly, being alert, and delivering it with thanksgiving, or are you a nominal Christian who has fallen by the wayside? 2) Have you recognized that each and every Christian that has received Christ is now a steward of the Gospel, obligated to share the Good News with others? Are you fulfilling that calling and ministry, or are you a nominal Christian that believes "Clerical George" has a ministry--not me--let him do the works?
It is very unappealing to be a regular attendee at a church where you see the same faces, week after week, asking for the same type of prayer, over and over, knowing that they have no prayer life other than leaning on the ability of someone else to say a prayer of favor for them. On the same hand these are the same faces who do not serve or volunteer in that church because they feel church is to receive and not to give. Take away the background image of a church and apply it to your life. How much time do you spend in earnest prayer and in ministry for the Lord each week? Hopefully it accounts for more than just the mandatory one hour spent in a church service.
We reap what we sow. If we sow nothing into our recovery with prayer and doing good works to others, it is highly likely that one year from now we will still be reading messages similar to Revive Me! recovery reflections having never received one iota of relief from our affliction. The particular verse of sowing and reaping is actually preceded with this thought. Gal 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked." Do we dare to mock God who desires to give us His all-in-all? Are we giving Him ours?
Be at peace within yourself as God searches and tries the genuineness of your faith. You are no exception to God desiring His highest will. Allow God to work on what He deems of foremost importance in your life. Be generous in your prayer life and service to Him, and one day you will be amazed that you have your freedom and were so wrapped up in Kingdom work you almost failed to recognize it!
Heavenly Father, thank You that You have set priorities for good in my life. What You deem as important, I also deem as important. Let me be faithful, trusting and active until it pleases You to set me free. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #22 ©www.christian-recovery.com
2Co 3:2 You* are our letter, having been written in our hearts, being known and being read by people.
2Co 4:1 For this reason, having this ministry, just as we received mercy, we do not become discouraged.
2Co 4:16 For this reason, we do not become discouraged, _but_ even if our outward person [fig., body] is decaying, yet the inward [person] is being renewed day by day (ALT)
I wanted to stick to our uppermost verse today and point out to you that you are a living epistle, written in a form of a readable letter that others know you by and read view you by. You are an open book, wittingly or not. Yes, we are known by our fruits of the Spirit which are plainly seen and viewed by others. Is that an ouch or an amen regarding your transparency?
Upon further study and in preparation for today's reflection, I found the next two verses which so well complimented today's reading. Both are exhortations not to become discouraged. These are written by Paul's hand, but inspired and recorded by the Holy Spirit. This is a love letter to you to encourage you, and to make you aware that discouragement might come, especially as we await recovery, but it admonishes us against despair and dismay.
Perhaps discouragement is all you can focus on lately. Perhaps you need an encouraging word. Perhaps you just feel you can never be free of your affliction. I offer this quote to you today. John Wooden: "Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."
If today you cannot find the victory you seek, do not allow it to engulf you and return to the place you were when you had no hope to cling to. God is in the deliverance business. It is His obligation as Father God to set you free by the Blood of the Lamb shed on your behalf. He can do it, even while you cannot. Your part is to hope and trust and keep taking those little steps of obedience and changes in your behavior until one day, it suddenly dawns on you, I am free; I am free at last!
Prayer: Thank you Lord for believing in me even when I don't believe in myself. Thank You, Lord for always encouraging me at my low ebbs in life. Thank You Lord, for what has been promised to me, through Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #21 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Rom 11:29 For the gracious gifts and the calling of God [are] irrevocable.
Gifts and calling. That is really what God wants our mind to be on---not our failings and shortcomings. The stability of God, His Word, His promises and His faithfulness cannot be refuted or doubted. He is not a man that He can lie. Why do you doubt that You have heard God calling you? Why then do you doubt the gift of freedom that is delivered to you by the Name above all names, Jesus? Because you have not realized your release yet? Because you look upon your affliction with only physical eyes? Because others have browbeaten you into believing God will not do for you what you can do for yourself? Because your faith, in reality, is still so sorely underdeveloped? Because you lack the patience to see deliverance through completion? Why don't you add your own question here, and then in the Powerful Name above all names, declare that satan must get thee behind you. Your miracle is on its way. You must not faint or grow weary. You must show yourself to God a workman to be approved. Arise! Stand up and declare your victory, for what is in the unseen will soon be realized in the seen.
God will not revoke His blessings stored up for you. Do not limit Him on the when, where, and how it will be manifested. Do not be discouraged. Loose that negativity and realize that God is a God that rewards the faithful and declares them righteous before Him. Haven't you seen His strong arm deliver before? Hasn't He undeserving given you abundance of His revelation of Who He is? You do not believe in vain. There will come the day soon, that you will shake your head in disbelief that you once so doubted. Stand up and declare, if God be for me, who can be against me?
Prayer: Almighty God, You have stirred my spirit by making me to focus upon Who you are, and not who I am. You are the great I Am, and I put my trust and confidence in You that You alone are able to do what You have promised concerning me. Thank You Lord, from my innermost being which praises and honors You. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #20 ©www.christian-recovery.com I just read a survey that said, "Although most religious traditions call on the faithful to serve the poor, physicians who are more religious are slightly less likely to practice medicine among the underserved than physicians with no religious affiliation." So much for, "Whoever is greatest among you shall be your servant." ~~Jesus The church and Body of Christ, with some exception, has adopted that religious attitude when it comes to serving the least, the last, and the lost. Jesus walked amongst that class of people doing good and healing all that came to Him. But our modernized ministers seek gifts and not giving. A sermon must do and please send your tithes and offerings so that we can continue building our great works on earth. Is this to the glory of God? I think not. Yes, money is a necessary evil, but begging payment without serving and doing the works of Christ is a great shame in our society. It is not the Good News Christ preached or the example He displayed. When He fed the 4000 and 5000, He offered the baskets full because He took pity on the crowds. He did not pass the basket for an offering. He served and not was served. And so we are likened in begging God for deliverance if we have not served His purpose in His permitting this affliction to come upon us. I am not saying the God demands payment from you and that He will not heal you instantaneously. What I am saying, is the same we spoke of last week: The Golden Rule. Were you able to get your eyes off of self, and what's in it for me, and go and serve one that is least in the Kingdom of God? I am sure it came with no visible reward, but that is a reminder that we walk by faith and not by sight. So until your victory manifests itself, know with a certainty that God has never forsaken the righteous and your freedom is on its way as you continue to serve, trust and obey. Prayer: Lord, often it takes another dose of your healing balm to understand our dedication and loyalty when we made allegiance with Christ. I believe You have a day of fulfillment for me as I go and do good to others first. Amen My commitment this week: ___________________________________________________

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #19 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Twenty one days takes on significance in the Bible and in the world also as we will see. For twenty one days Michael the archangel battled with the devil to release answered prayers for Daniel who had "from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God." I can vividly imagine the battle not only Michael had, but the powers of darkness attempting to destroy Daniel as he faithfully interceded in prayer and did what was right to set his heart to God's display of mighty power.
Twenty one days takes on significance in the physical appetite. That is the length of time it takes to destroy a habit. That is the length of time it takes to develop a good habit. That is a general rule of thumb, not for those that wish upon a star, but for those that battle that good might come forth.
If you are serious about recovery or revival, can you battle fearlessly against your flesh and against the powers of darkness that have bound you? Can you actually co-operate with God and the hosts of angels that serve Him in seeking your freedom and deliverance? Simple question: What are you willing to do to be released and to magnify God?
Prayer: Lord, I do admit I have not participated in putting wings on my prayers. I failed to realize the dark powers and principalities that aligned against me when I declared you were my God. Strengthen me for the journey that I might please You with my effort. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #18 ©www.christian-recovery.com Luk 6:30 "So be giving to every [one] asking of you, and stop demanding back from the one taking away your [belongings]. Luk 6:31 "And just as you* want that people shall be doing to you, _you*_ also be doing to them likewise. (ALT) The Golden Rule, does anyone not know what it is? It sounds very familiar to all, but when seeking our own well-being and recovery, we do not wisely apply it in our petition and position before God to release us from our bondage and self-misery. Are you old enough to remember when our society labeled the times we were living in, "The Me Generation"? It didn't take a rocket scientist to discern what a self-loving and self-serving generation we were passing through. And such were some of us. And some of us never got our focus off of, "What's in it for me," and back onto the face of the Lord. As we read each week's reflection, meditate, and pray upon it so that we can come out of captivity, we recall the times that God may have sent angels unawares to us to entertain. They may have wanted a kind word, a generous gesture, a good example, or perhaps just a loaf of bread. Some might have wanted much more than that and downright infuriated us enough to rebuff them. We know the opportunities are countless to serve the Lord, and we know we have closed our hearts too many of the times He appeared to us as a beggar, an outcast, a needy one, or even as a preacher of righteousness as we rebuffed Him. What lies behind us is behind us. What lies ahead of us as we ask God this great favor in restoring us and making us whole is to be doing to others likewise as we are asking to be done to us. Your recovery might not manifest until you begin giving to others first. God has an order in His Kingdom. We might not always appreciate or understand it, but He will honor you as you honor others, even the least of the brethren in your eyes. Prayer: Lord God, I have dropped the ball many times and now I want the opportunity to do good to others, to prefer them, to seek their well-being above my own comfort zone. I know that You are healing me and setting me free, and by faith I will go and live as if my recovery is already manifested, as I pray for others and do good unto them first. Revive me! Weekly Reflections #17 ©www.christian-recovery.com Hos 10:12 "Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you."
As we travel through the Word there are certain passages that leap out with joy to greet us. This would be one found in the Book of Hosea which is not a highly favored Book to dig into. Hosea speaks of spiritual adultery and punishment, but as we faithfully read that Book we see there are love letters of restoration in there also. God's Message is and always will be, "Return to Me and I will return to you."
I was always also fascinated with this Scripture: Jer 4:3 "For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns." The word fallow is not even used in today's modern language unless you happen to be a farmer. It means cultivated land that is not seeded for one or more growing seasons. Ah, now you serious gardeners understand what God is commanding as you may have rotated your garden crop at times. It is understood that there might be an unfruitful period in your life, but with reason, with purpose, and with good-will looking forward to a future time of robust yield.
As we plainly see in the secular or spiritual realm, it speaks of action. The ground should still be cultivated (broken up and ploughed) with close eye. It is not abandoned. It is not to be overgrown with thorn and weeds. It is not to be taken over by someone with squatter's rights. We must stand our ground for it is our responsibility alone. And then we wait until the Lord pours out the latter day rain of righteousness upon us as we seek Him.
That is what we are doing as we wait to see evidence of our bondage loosed so that we will never sow among thorns again. God is active in your delivery. Are you active in preparing to receive it? God wants to restore you. Speak lovingly and gently to Him as you return and await.
Prayer: God, our wonderful Counselor, we thank You that Your arms are always extended to us. We thank You that You are waiting and watching for our return. We thank You for the wonderful refreshing showers of blessings that will fall upon us. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #16 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Jer 8:5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slid back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
How we hate the use of the word backslidden, even though it is God that coined it. We relate it to overzealous preaching of hell and damnation and accusation toward all sitting in the congregation, especially when the church or meeting has been quite dead of any manifestation of God's Presence. As the clergyman asks for the backslidden to repent and come to the front of the altar for salvation and prayer, few are browbeaten into putting on a public display of the sin in their life.
It is no wonder we shirk from that word. It entails guilt, confession, forgiveness and genuine fruit worthy of repentance. It sounds like nothing but problems ahead instead of the fuzzy, warm comfort zone we prefer to live in. We hold fast deceit because it is easier to live with than facing the Truth, Christ Jesus.
Someone just told me a few moments ago that he would not talk about the past. That Jesus said, "I make you a new creature." See that magic wand-waving Jesus in other's life's? Those are the ones that will not ascribe to guilt, confession, forgiveness and fruits worthy of repentance. Those are that backslidden that refuse to go forward in their progression and growth in Christ. Just because we prefer to pretend the past never happened, it doesn't mean we no longer reap what we have sown. If we are entwined in bondage, there is something, I guarantee you, that you have not repented of. That makes you perpetually backslidden and refusing to return to God. Jesus said, Rev 2:4 "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."
Remember that day you accepted Christ as your Savior? You felt a tremendous sense of relief as your sins were washed away. You knew God loved you, and You loved Him for translating you from the kingdom of darkness to His glorious Kingdom. Recall that day, and if your love, joy and peace are not as great, or as it should be greater than that day then you are backslidden. Get in touch with God. Let Him put into your conscience and spirit what it is exactly that is keeping you from your healing and delivery. Become "forward slidden" today.
Prayer: Lord God, do I have hidden sins of Omission? Commission? Thought? Word? Deed? Am I refusing to hear You? Is there deceit in my life I am clinging to? I started off just wanting to be delivered from my bondage, but now I want to also return to my first love in Christ and deepen that Love more and more each day. Show me plainly the path to progress as I thank You now for my recovery. Amen

Pro 18:14 "The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?" This reads in the Good News Bible as, "Your will to live can sustain you when you are sick, but if you lose it, your last hope is gone." That is our discussion today in the few brief moments we meet each week.
Is your last hope gone, or is God your last hope? Have you placed all your time and effort into your wholeness on everything but God, making Him your very last hope for deliverance; or have you lost your hope, faith and belief in Him just because of a physical malady or fleshly craving that cannot be quenched? You might want to read those two double-edged questions again and come and reason with God over your answer.
Last week we mentioned that those that hope in the Name of Jesus, even for those that were far off from Him, could rightfully place their desire of fulfillment on that Name alone. Did you actively seek out your commitment for the week to Jesus alone? Many hours in prayer and worship reflecting on Jesus Christ? Was your strength renewed and your patience enlarged? Did you see the possibility of Light at the end of the tunnel? Did you even get one goosebump by breathing in and out, in your inner being, thoughts of Him?
We are sick. We need a Physician. Jesus came to heal and deliver us from all oppression. How can our last hope be gone if we have Jesus dwelling within us? Psa 38:15 "For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God." Prayer: Thank You, Lord God for renewing my hope. I do believe, help Thou my unbelief as I look to You knowing that You have heard my prayer for recovery. Amen

Mat 12:21 'And nations will hope [or, place their trust] in His name.'" [Isaiah 42:1-4] (ALT)
Mat 12:21 The mere sound of his name will signal hope, even among far-off unbelievers. (MSG)
We often take for granted, or have not yet entered into the fullness of the revelation of Christ, given for you, in the Holy Bible. I have put this important text in two modern translations to try to capture your attention today. We know that we have to put on Christ. We know that we must receive Him. We know that we must believe in Who He is---the second Person of the Trinity. We know that there is no higher Name than the Name of Christ Jesus. We know a lot of things about Christ, but are we enlightened yet to call upon that Name to receive our freedom from bondage? Is our hope and trust in Him, or is it placed upon a method, a treatment, a plan, a meeting, a preacher, or something other than that Name that sets captives free?
The mere sound of His Name---does it thrill you, give you goose bumps, provide you with power so that all things are possible? Is He so beautiful to you that just by breathing in and out His Name you feel His Presence? That is the Jesus that you need to place your hope and trust in. There is no other Name in heaven or earth that can deliver you and grant you victory. Or are you far-off? Even to those He signal's hope.
If you seem to be in a holding pattern with your addiction or bondage, perhaps you will commit to becoming intimate with Him, not who you want to believe He is, but the real deal, Emmanuel; God with us.
Prayer: Emmanuel, why have I not seen You, touched You, known You, experienced You before in my life? Forgive me for blocking the revelation of You with the indifference toward the Bible. Reveal yourself to me as I journey on to knowing You which will set me free to worship You. I see that is Your intent and will on my pilgrimage to healing. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #13 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Pro 3:12 "My child, when the LORD corrects you, pay close attention and take it as a warning. The LORD corrects those he loves, as parents correct a child of whom they are proud." (GNB)
I tend to think that Psalms and Proverbs are probably the most highly read portions of the Bible. Even New Testament's often enclose the Proverbs and Psalms for our meditation and wisdom, yet so few readers have applied the above verse on waiting for answer to prayer.
We may not all be parents, but we all were children. We were corrected and if we bore children of our own we corrected them. Each scenario the decision or judgment was final by an authoritive figure. If we were healthy and Christians in our childhood we, although not at first possibly, but later on realized the truth of the love given with the instruction and correction. If we were healthy and Christians while raising our children, we knew that our discipline was correct and we often knew the punishment hurt us more than the child.
Yet, as we seek freedom and recovery in our life for our going astray and our sin and rebellion, we do not pay close attention to what God is warning us as He brings about our desired freedom. We dismiss the repercussions of reaping what we sow, and we expect God to be overly indulgent and grant our wish and favor without the path of correction He desires to lead us on. We rebuff God's way, will, and answer and seek an easy out. For instance, substance abuse. We know we are addicted, and this can be drugs, alcohol, food, perversion, you must substitute your bondage here. Yet, we tell God, "I know I have your forgiveness, just give me a miracle and deliver me instantaneously. I know You can do it."
Yes, He can do it, but you will find another addiction, or god, or idol to substitute and set up before Him once again. Your relationship with Him is not Father/child if you refuse the path of correction He has chosen for you, and the value of Him choosing that way for you in His great love and in the Omniscient of knowing your future. You are doing Abba great injustice by not allowing Him to bring you the answer the way He chooses. You are doing Abba great injustice by telling Him He is not timely enough. You are doing Abba great injustice by telling Him your needs are greater than the needs of the countless others that you will be able to set free with the knowledge and wisdom God is imparting to you as you seek your freedom along with a mature relationship to God. He is waiting on you; you are not waiting on Him. Surrender to His Wisdom. Do what He requires of you and do not despise His correction today.
Prayer: Lord, I do see. I do know You. I do know You make the finest choices for me. I do need to drop the feel good religion and have You instead. I do want to make You proud by learning what You are teaching me. Help me to see that You are responding to my prayer and that I need to put my listening ears on. Amen

Wounded For Your Transgressions
I bore that brutal beating and shameful death on the cross for your freedom, My beloved. I desire that you take that knowledge, that descriptive passage in My Word, and apply it to what hinders you from walking in My highest will and in the fullness of the Spirit. It is by understanding and applying My shed blood that you will have the release that you long for. I have no bounds. I am not hindered by your past. Your failures are all not only forgiven, but forgotten. I have removed those sins as far as the east is from the west. I long for you to experience forgiveness from God the Father so that you do not fall into guilt and condemnation from the evil one. It is he that torments you as you unknowingly give him permission to do so. It was God the Father's will to crush Me with suffering, but it is not My will to do that to you. It is My will that you realize your blessed inheritance and walk in victory. Precious one, I have set you free. I have redeemed you. I want you to know Me, not just about Me. The healing you are in search for is here in the now. Isa 53:5-9 "He was wounded for our rebellious acts. He was crushed for our sins. He was punished so that we could have peace, and we received healing from his wounds. We have all strayed like sheep. Each one of us has turned to go his own way, and the LORD has laid all our sins on him. He was abused and punished, but he didn't open his mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. He was like a sheep that is silent when its wool is cut off. He didn't open his mouth. He was arrested, taken away, and judged. Who would have thought that he would be removed from the world? He was killed because of my people's rebellion. He was placed in a tomb with the wicked. He was put there with the rich when he died, although he had done nothing violent and had never spoken a lie." Learn this well: My last words were, "It is finished." Your healing is complete. Receive it, My little one. Peace be yours. Arise! Revive me! Weekly Reflections #11 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Dan 7:15 "As for me, Daniel, my spirit within me was anxious, and the visions of my head alarmed me. (ESV)
Are you like Daniel anxious about your recovery? Alarmed at the visions that race through your head telling you you will never be set free? If you can relate, you need to attack this anxiety before you will see your desired freedom. God works from the inward outward. Just the way He does things for the most part. Who is to argue with Him, even though we care to see the outer manifestation first? You are being set free, even if you do not like the route God has chosen for you. There is an order in His Kingdom and He is directing your path to the land of promise.
Jesus tells us to be careful (burdened) for nothing. Could He be telling you that this is an express command you are ignoring and He can't breakthrough to you until you cease? And you may answer back, I will cease when I no longer have the anxiety of my recovery. Doesn't work that way. A great many of God's blessing are conditional on you choosing obedience. Not obedience to the easy things only, but the difficult tasks like letting the mind of Christ dwell richly within you. Which is easier for Him? For Him to heal you with a word, or for Him to get you to allow Him full entrance into that anxious spirit and alarming mind? Getting you to do something when He has given you free will would be the better answer of choice if you voice what is most difficult for Him. Give Him access to your spirit and mind and ask Him what He wants to do first in your life so that you might receive that blessed healing you desire.
Prayer: Lord, You are always right and I am always attempting to tell you when, how, and which way You should move next to please me. May I please You instead for once by giving You full access and authority over my spirit and mind. Work whichever way it is for me to be complete and mature in You. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #10 ©www.christian-recovery.com " For of this I am confident, that He who has begun a good work within you will go on to perfect it in preparation for the day of Jesus Christ." Phil 1:6 (WEY) We seem to think that recovery is our work, our job, our laurels. But it is not. It is the work of the Holy Spirit who has set you apart for everlasting life who is your Perfector. He does this willingly to present You to the Lord Jesus Christ on His day. He wants you spotless and blameless before your Lord. It is His work to make you complete and pure. It is His work to bring you recovery and healing. We can not press Him to do His work in His good will, but we can express our desire to have it done and to make us ready, willing and able to receive. When you feel weak, express that to Him. That is His job to impart strength to do. When you feel weary, express it to Him. That is His job to bring you comfort. When you feel like a failure, express it to Him. That is His job to make you victorious. Get the picture? It is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring you to a state of perfection. He cannot fail or forsake. It is a done deal. He makes no exception or exclusion in completing you whole in Christ. The triumph is His so be willing to exalt and glorify Him for your deliverance and recovery. Prayer: Holy Spirit, I was kind of thinking that I have so much work to do before I would see my freedom. Yet now I see I haven't received it yet because You are stretching and maturing me that I might give You all the credit that is due You when You wrought this miracle in me. I thank You for wisdom and I thank You for my understanding of the work You do within me. Forgive me for keeping You at arm's length. Your hand is not shortened however to free me. Praises to You alone! Amen My commitment this week ______________________________________________

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #9 ©www.christian-recovery.com
2Co 4:7 "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
In a Watchman Nee study on Releasing the Spirit, I found this quote worthy of passing on. "Among those who possess the life of the Lord can be found two distinct conditions: one includes those in whom life is confined, restricted, imprisoned and unable to come forth; the other includes those in whom the Lord has forged a way, and life is thus released from them." Which earthen vessel are you? Imprisoned or released? The Treasure (Jesus) dwells within us. We must be broken to release the Spirit. The study goes on to say, "The Alabaster Box Must Be Broken ." Do you recall the Scripture passage about the woman that poured upon Jesus the ointment as an act of worship? That box had to be broken open so that anointing fragrance could come forth. We are that alabaster box (earthen vessel) and the Holy Spirit is the Anointing Fragrance in our life. We clearly have to be broken, so we can be released in power.
As you are waiting for that somehow special 'aha' moment that will set you free from your bondage, ask the Lord if today's reading might contain the reason for the delay in your life. 2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Is there still things in you which must be broken?
Prayer: Lord, I am not stiff-necked, although I might be many other things. I hear You gently speaking. May I discern what needs to be done in my life to release the Holy Spirit in me, and give me the anointing that will set me free. You are my Treasure and I ask that you revive me. Amen

Rom 4:7 "Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered."
Can you stop for a moment or two and let this verse sink in? First word is "saying." Not an old wives tale or a familiar saying, but you speaking the truth in love. Second word is "blessed." Not going to be, used to be, but blessed, what you are. And thirdly, the end of the sentence is the reason why. Your sins are forgiven and covered, and Jesus did it all!
Have you been muttering under your breath that you haven't been blessed with what you desire yet? Are you sputtering that you can't count your blessings because you can't think of any? Do you think that the sermon on the mount which lists the "blessed are" do not pertain to you, or is only relatable when you reach heaven? Read Romans 4:7 once more.
Don't shortchange God for the blessing He has bestowed on you. Don't try to prioritize what you think should come first. This is the first and foremost blessing we can have as a Christian---forgiveness of sins. You are paid in full--debt free. I say that is good enough reason to rejoice that you are special. Not everyone has their sin's covered. In fact, it might be a smaller margin than we expected when we reach the pearly gates. So put on your gratitude attitude from here on out and expect God to begin bestowing those other blessings once you realize the greatest of them all you already possess.

Rom 16:20 "And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen."
When we live in the midst of addiction, when we cannot escape our sin past, when we can see no permanence in recovery, and when temptations and cravings hound us, we think that God does not hear our pleas for deliverance. We may even then rebel and continually give surrender to the master that is controlling us and dictating our servitude. In plain English that is called, "Cutting off your nose to spite your face."
What happened to taking baby steps on our way to freedom? What happened to practicing in some measure self-control, until the Holy Spirit fully eradicates this area of weakness within us? What happened to waiting for the blessed promise with patience? Who was Jesus speaking to when He said, "I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on the earth? (Luk 18:8)
God is a God of peace toward us. If something or someone is threatening that peace in our life, God will avenge it. Christ has trampled upon Satan and the devil's hold on you will be bruised. That word bruised insinuates there will be a fight. A war is being waged. You can expect it. You can anticipate it. But lest you forget, Jesus is Victor. Keep your faith active. Let it not be extinguished during your wait. Surround yourself with positive action during this brief period of time, and may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

You Are Unique! David Brandt Berg
Do you know who the happiest people are? Those who accept themselves the way God made them, who learn to be happy with what they have and are not overly concerned about what others think. Struggling to live up to what you think others expect of you puts a real weight on you, but there's freedom in humility.
If you were honest, I think you'd admit that you really admire people who have the courage to just be themselves, rather than try so hard to be something they're not in order to fit in or impress others. Of course, those who make such decisions and take such stands often face loneliness and a feeling of isolation from others around them, which is sad.
You know, when I was young I didn't like the way I looked. I thought my nose was too big and that I was too skinny and ugly. I had quite an inferiority complex about that, and it took me a long time to get over it. Part of it was my pride, and part of it was comparing. But then as I grew older, I realized it really didn't matter. I understood that the Lord made me the way He wanted me, and that He made me that way because He loved me.
He loves you the way He made you, and you're beautiful in His eyes.
He loves you the way He made you, and you're beautiful in His eyes. We're all unique and special. In His eyes there is no ugliness, no matter what we look like.
Building self-esteem often has a lot to do with your relationship with the Lord. The closer you draw to Him and the more at peace you are with Him, the more content and at peace you'll be with yourself, the happier you'll be, and the more relaxed you'll be. When you're living close to the Lord, you're handsome or beautiful because His love and His light shine through.
I have a suggestion for you: Sit down sometime and let the Lord speak to you about yourself. Or ask someone else to pray and ask Him to tell you how He sees you, what your inner beauties are, what your inner strengths are, and what gifts and abilities He likes to bring forth in you, that He likes to see shine for others. Let Him encourage you, and you'll find that you can actually be quite happy being His unique creation.

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #6 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Mat 22:29 "Jesus answered and said unto them, 'Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.'"
Very plainly stated by the Master on why our progress might be hindered or delayed. Not knowing the Scriptures and not knowing the power of God. Think that He was only speaking to the Sadducees of His day? The Sadducees were those that were religious, but denied the existence of a future state. Not me, you say? If you are not fully persuaded that God is indeed going to deliver you and set you free, then you are denying the future state of your release from the bondage you are now held in prison by. In effect, the same cause of rebuke by Christ for unbelief.
I know that you believe both Scriptures, "With God all things are possible," and "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." But are you really applying it personally, so much so that you can hear Jesus say to you, "If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." Is your faith strong enough to believe in the power of those gathering together in unity to ask the Father for your deliverance? Quite often we ask others to pray for us while still not expecting favor or an answer. Or we ask others to pray for us completely shunning any responsibility that we might have. Or we pray with an unbelieving heart. Perhaps we ask someone to join in an agreement prayer that quite honestly "Ain't got no pull with the Lord." Or worse of all, in my opinion, is the prayer that is bound with sin. Jesus said, "Go and sin no more." Are you praying with one side of your mouth while the other knows quite well that you intend to stay with your sin habit?
Today I hope I am talking to no one. We all like an audience, but I hope none of these descriptive sentences fit you today. What I then do hope for is that you believe that your miracle---your freedom--IS on its way. And that you not only believe it, but receive it with gratitude and thanksgiving even before you might see it manifested in you. Trust Him to perform His word to you. He can not fail or forsake you! I see cause for rejoicing now, don't you?
Prayer: Father God, You said to your servant, Daniel, "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words are heard, and I have come in response to them" (Dan. 10:12). I rejoice Father God for the answer to my prayer and I thank You that I shall not faint before I see the evidence of it. I praise You and You alone for my miracle. I do believe Jesus is setting captives free and that includes me. Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #5 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Psa 71:21 "Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side."
Somebody that who has been there is able to give testimony, instruction, prayer on your behalf, and comfort. Somebody that hasn't cannot. Perhaps God is using you for His glory? Of course He is! Is He increasing your greatness? Of course He is! Is He comforting You? Of course He is! You will fully "pay it forward" someday. You will be the comforter to give others comfort, testimony, instruction, and prayer.
You will minister in power. Eph 3:7 "Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power." It is through grace that His power is found and it comes through your experiences with Him. How could you be effective, if you had no experience of His great grace in your life? Jesus said to the one that much is forgiven, that one loves much. You wouldn't know what you were talking about, and you wouldn't know how God can set free bondages if you didn't have the history you have. You need a testimony, and as you are going through this wilderness period to find yours, know that it is all with a loving purpose which God is forming in you.
He has not failed or forsaken you. He is not slow in manifesting His promises to you. He is working all things out so that all that love Him can benefit from your life experience. You are going to have a powerful testimony and you will be kept by His grace. He deems you capable of a new life!
Prayer: Lord, I can't quite fathom deliverance, let alone walking in Your power and being used to set people free. Yet, I know that with You all things are possible. I know what I am enduring right now will indeed strengthen me to help others who are in my shoes. I am going to trust You that what You say will come to pass. In fact, I am going to praise You now for all You have done in my life, and all You are about to do. Halleluiah! Amen

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #4 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Rom 8:26 "Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along." (MSG)
We are all familiar with this verse about the Holy Spirit, our Helper. I like this translation talking about the moment we get tired in the waiting. Are you tired in the waiting of your promise of recovery? Are you tired in the waiting for that moment when you know, that you know, that you know you are set free?
At moments like those, Doubts can creep in. Insecurities. Frustration. Exhaustion. All words that in last weeks Revive Me! we made a commitment to eradicate from our thoughts and voice. See how foreign those words should be if we are practicing ridding our lives of negativity?
Have you ever thought of how long it has taken, and how patiently Christ has waited upon us---for perhaps many things? Receiving the gift of salvation. Destroying bondage and stronghold and sins in our life. Desiring the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The response to sanctification, that is the yes to His setting us apart for holy service. If Jesus were to dwell on negativity, His list would far outweigh ours. He would get tired in the waiting.
He does not tire though. With joy, He awaits with anticipation, for that moment we quit struggling and enter willingly into the will and plan He has for us. And we will find, once we arrive, His Lordship and control is not burdensome. Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Your future and your hope depends on you stopping of the saying that negative word "no" to Him so often. Will you go for Me, He asks? Will you speak boldly in My Name, He asks? Will you cease your kicking against My will, He asks? Will you trust Me more, He asks? Will you endure awhile longer if I ask that of you, He asks? Take time to note this week in communication with our Lord, how many times you speak the word yes or no, and see which one is genuine and which one is too frequent to be pleasing to Him.
Prayer: Lord, I have said no to You thinking I was saying no to others, or even my own capabilities. I am working at becoming more flexible. I am striving to enter into the abundant life. Have patience with me and do not tire as I make my freedom in you a surety as I begin to think and say the word yes to all your desires for me. Amen

Although circumstances and decisions made in the past affect our lives in the future, we are not supposed to allow the past to dominate our lives. Are you in bondage to your past? Remember, ". . . if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17) Amen Iam a new creation in Him and I'm loven it! Iam free from my past praise God!So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 NIV)WOO HOO! Freedom! Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (NIV) John 8:32
Why bother with God? Because He is the difference between. . .
Freedom or Bondage to the Past
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV)
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 NIV)
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32 NIV)
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 NIV)
For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-- now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. (Hebrews 9:15 NIV)
Although circumstances and decisions made in the past affect our lives in the future, we are not supposed to allow the past to dominate our lives. Are you in bondage to your past? Remember, ". . . if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Everlasting Joy
Today's Scripture
All who seek the Lord shall find him and shall praise his name. Their hearts shall rejoice with everlasting joy. (Psalm 22:26)
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
The Bible is full of happiness, peace, victory and joy. The more you read Gods Word, the more you realize that God is an awesome heavenly Father who gives His children joy, peace and love. Followers of Jesus should have unshakeable and unmistakable joy in their lives every single day. It may sound pretty obvious, but it is a practical truth that needs to be applied. Every time you have experienced an answer to prayer, every time you have received a blessing, that is the work of God! If you have Jesus, your life should be full of joy that will never go away.
A Prayer for Today
God, thank You for the everlasting joy You reveal in Your Word. I believe that I am what it says I am, and I have what it says I gave. Help me to be faithful in reading my Bible with an open and receptive heart. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Hi catching up here
Dont allow your own flesh to dictate another day of captivity for you. Don't allow your own negative thoughts dictate another day of captivity for you.*** Hallelujah!! ***Never talk or think defeat. Use words like hope, can, belief, faith, victory. See how many positive words you can find in your Bible studies and devotionals this week. Note each positive quality word you find and cling to it like a man being thrown a life line. Jesus is our Life Line. If you begin to work on the inner man, you will see the flesh become in subjection to the power and authority of Christ Jesus who longs to see you overcome. All you still lack, you can find in Him. Praise God.!!!!
Prayer: Lord God, I find taking back dominion of my mind one of the most overwhelming tasks ahead of me. Yet, I know that if I want Your Power to flow through me, cleansing me and setting me free, I need the mind of Christ. Help me to make a conscious effort to receive the blessings You long to give to an uncluttered mind and spirit. Amen*** Amen to that!

About taking care of your spirit…
Philipians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (NIV)
Your spirit has a life just as your body has a life. Your spirit needs the sustaining food of God's love just like your body needs sustaining food. Your spirit needs living water to stay alive just like your body needs water. Your spirit needs your attention just like your body needs your attention. To sustain, renew, and invigorate your spirit you can place your spirit in the hands of God through prayer, petition, and giving thanks. Your spirit living in thanksgiving is empowered and strong. Your spirit spent in hours of worship can weather every storm. Your spirit connected to God in prayer is fed the food of God's love. Your spirit resting in meditation upon the love of God is awash in His living water. Your hours of worship, prayer, meditation, and thanksgiving bring to your spirit the sustaining power of God.

Col 2:8 "See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ." (ESV)
Dont allow your own flesh to dictate another day of captivity for you. Don't allow your own negative thoughts dictate another day of captivity for you. Don't allow your own false concepts dictate another day of captivity for you. Jesus came to set the captives free by the preaching of the Good News.
We are daily processing a whole lot of data, often more than the natural mind can handle. But we have the mind of Christ. (1 Cor 2:16) We are to let His mind dwell in us richly. Why then live as beggars and paupers by dwelling on the glass half empty syndrome? Why let the carnal mind and flesh control us when greater is He within us, than he that is in the world? Why return to the leeks and garlic of Egypt when we could be feasting on manna from heaven?
Never talk or think defeat. Use words like hope, can, belief, faith, victory. See how many positive words you can find in your Bible studies and devotionals this week. Note each positive quality word you find and cling to it like a man being thrown a life line. Jesus is our Life Line. Holy and Incomparable The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you and writhed; the very depths were convulsed. The clouds poured down water, the skies resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth. Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked. Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen. (NIV) Psalm 77:13-19
O Lord,
Through this Psalm, we know that You are holy and incomparable. We know that You are the One who performs miracles and displays Your power among the people. You are the One who has the power and the desire, to redeem Your people. Your power is displayed as incredible power over nature. . the waters obey You. . .the skies resound with thunder. . .Your lightning lights up the world. . .the entire earth trembles and quakes in Your presence.
You were the One who lovingly cared for Your people by parting the waters of the Red Sea to provide deliverance of the Israelites from the Egyptians. Although You did not leave a visible mark through Your footprints, the people knew You were the only One with the power to deliver them!
O Lord, if You can do all that, why do I doubt Your power at work in me? or Your power at work in others? Help me to see Your power at work around me today. . .and may I continually acknowledge Your glory and dominion over all Your creation! Amen

Overcomers Impress God REVELATION 21:7 NKJ 7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. You face problems. Sometimes you struggle and wonder why God doesn't "just do something." God is giving you an opportunity to impress Him! God is your audience -- rooting for you. He is thrilled when you overcome. Just like an earthly parent is thrilled when their child excels. God still LOVES you even if you fail. You just miss the opportunity to thrill Him by not overcoming. (But what could be a more worthy goal than to thrill God?) "OK, I would like to impress God. How do I 'overcome'?" 1 JOHN 5:4-5 NKJ 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? Overcoming is clearly something achieved by believing -- not by other means. Further light on this comes in Revelation 12:11. REVELATION 12:11 NKJ 11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Because of the redemption obtained by the sacrificial death of our Lord, and our agreement with it, expressed through words of faith, we overcome. In short: expressing our faith in Jesus and what He did. Another key is mentioned: commitment -- even to death. We must be resolute and determined, no matter what the cost, to fully and finally overcome. Eight times in Revelation great promises are made to those who overcome. (Rev. 2:7, 2:11, 2:17, 2:26, 3:5, 3:12, 3:21, 21:7.) Our Lord's intention in giving these promises was certainly not to make us feel guilty, or inadequate, but to spur us on to victory. God is cheering you on to victory! He believes you can overcome (with His help)! SAY THIS: God made me an overcomer, so I will overcome! ----------------------------------------------------------- ---- Please forward, or tell your friends. http://aDevotion.org/tell

Look at Your Heart
"A good tree does not give bad fruit. Also, a bad tree does not give good fruit. Each tree is known by the fruit it gives. People don't gather figs from thorny weeds. And they don't get grapes from bushes! A good person has good things saved in his heart. And so he brings good things out of his heart. But an evil person has evil things saved in his heart. So he brings out bad things. A person speaks the things that are in his heart."
-- Luke 6:43-45 (ERV)
KEY THOUGHT: Ultimately, all the principles Jesus talks about in Luke 6 are heart issues. Our hearts need to be conformed to God's will, not just our actions. Yes, our actions are crucial. Yes, obedience is necessary. However, that obedience needs to be heartfelt and heart-driven. When it is, then our hearts determine the fruit we bear. So let's ask God to guard our hearts, cleanse our hearts, and conform our hearts to his own.
TODAY'S PRAYER: Holy God, purify my heart. Remove from it all bitterness and rivalry. Get rid of self-interest and evil. Fill my heart with your love by the power of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

To Become Like Jesus ROMANS 8:29 NLT 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters. Don't despair over your current condition -- you have an amazing destiny! God's plan is to make you like Jesus Christ. Don't laugh! Remember that nothing is impossible with God. You WILL be like Jesus! Always remember that this tops God's agenda for you. You may be concentrating on some temporal project or need in your life. But God's focus is always on transforming you into the likeness of Jesus Christ. We can't expect becoming like Jesus to always be painless or without difficulty. After all, most of us have quite a few rough edges. But, if we understand what is going on in life, and we keep our eyes on God's goal, it will be easier. 2 CORINTHIANS 4:17-18 NLT 17 For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! 18 So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. Revive me! Weekly Reflections #2 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Job 5:17 "So, what a blessing when God steps in and corrects you! Mind you, don't despise the discipline of Almighty God!" (MSG)
It can be a very painful thing to search our memories of when we were disciplined as a child. Perhaps, mother, father, grandparent, custodian or school teacher---one who was in authority over us in our youthful days, was grossly unfair and abusive toward us, and it took a mountain of faith to come to know God as Love. It is going to be a natural response to rebel toward God when He corrects us or brings conviction upon us. Some of you are turning off already as you read this because you have only known Christ Jesus as pal, buddy or bestest friend. Do you not know that He is Author and Perfecter of our Faith (Heb. 12:2)? What kind of Almighty and All Powerful God would He be if He left us to our own devices? Or if He were thrilled that our faith never grew?
We often look at distasteful and unpleasant experiences in life, and credit satan for it. "Oh, the devil is sure coming after me", we even say when the car battery refuses to jump, or we have a flat tire on the way to church. What about that neighbor who does not know Jesus, and raises his voice at you to keep your dog off of his lawn? How much are you going to blame on the neighbor, everyday circumstances, and the devil, rather than credit God for trying to bring about in you spiritual growth, a godly response in all facets of life? Is it God, the Author and Finisher of our Faith correcting you, disciplining you and trying to bring forth in you fruits worthy of repentance? Are you thankful in all things, mindful to praise Him even when things do not "appear" favorable? Or is it that you are such a powerhouse in Christ that the devil can drop everything he is doing and personally torture and make your life miserable like he did to Job?
Let's gain perspective. Our verse today says it is a blessing when God steps in and corrects us. Let's begin thanking Him for the recognition we have of God moving in a new way in our lives, as we prayed for last week. The Word says, Heb 12:6 "For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives." Do we really want to be set free, and will we accept God's discipline to be cured? Could God be showing us the ULTIMATE path to the freedom and recovery we have been praying for?
Prayer: Lord God, I surely don't appreciate discipline. I am in the condition I am in, perhaps as evidence of that fact. I ask for your forgiveness for the many times I could or would not see Your hand upon me trying to bring me the deliverance I so long for, and the fruit of reflecting Christ Jesus to all in my walk. I ask that You continue to bathe me in the Light of Christ so that I might learn to recognize the true blessings You are trying to bestow on me, as You move to give me abundant life. Amen

Thanks editor this blessed me lots! Praise God, how awesome is it that we have our Jesus who FEELS us and UNDERSTANDS us sees our weaknesses and sympathises with us. We done have to fear comming to him about anything even our sin he was tempted in everyway who better to understand our struggles. We can come bodly to the throne of grace bodly and find mercy for our failing and grace to help us in our time of need Praise God. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we areyet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. /m1Christ presides over us if we have made Him Savior AND Lord in our lives. About how Christ does not just watch us… John 11:33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. We too often think about God being "up there" in heaven. We too often falsely think about Christ being aloof from us and so far above us He does not care much about what happens to us. However, in all our trials, tribulations, and afflictions, Christ is deeply moved and troubled in our troubles. He doesnt just watch us from afar. He isnt just sitting back observing us with no feelings for us. He is troubled and deeply moved when we are in trouble or face trouble. When you are hurting, He is hurting with you. When you are hurting, His arm is around you. When you weep, Christ weeps with you. You serve a personal Christ. Although you cannot explain how He works, you are never lost in the billion or so people who walk planet earth. Christ walks beside you like you are the only person on earth or anywhere in the universe. Indeed, Christ is a personal friend, living with you at all times and in all places. ~~findthepower.com

Unlock the Gate
"A dream comes through much activity." -Ecclesiastes 5:3
What's holding you back? By now you know there is: a goal you should be pursuing
a dream you should be launching
a plan you should be executing
a project you should be starting
a possibility you should be exploring
an opportunity you should be grabbing
an idea you should be working
a problem you should be tackling
a decision you should be making!
I say it's time to unlock the starting gate! NOW is the time to take action and STOP postponing. But what's holding you back? What are your favorite excuses for not beginning? Write them down:
I can't begin today because ___________________

/m6 I mentioned the other day, you are receiving your sight! Psalm 20:
1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; 2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; 3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. 4 Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. 5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. 6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. 9 Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

I believe you have hit the nail on the head here when you said "Do we tell Him what we want, how we want it, and when we want it? Or do we submit to Him, giving Him leeway to bring about the best and permanent solution to that which we need in our lives?" The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The first part of what you said represents the foolishness on our parts and the second part of your statement illustrates wisdom at it's best!
If my people who are called by my name will turn from their wicked ways, humble themselves and pray then..... let's allow God to be responsible for His part and focus and concentrate on ours, shall we?

/m4 RISE VICTOROUSLY With the shield of faith, you will be able to extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one. Know the Word so that with every lie or misrepresentation he hurls at you, you can thwart him with your shield of faith. Can you envision it protecting you? Especially let the shield of faith surround you in moments of doubt. The Holy Spirit will always give you a Scripture that will strengthen you. Repeat it over and over until you rise up victoriously. The devil left Me after he tempted Me because he could not penetrate My shield of faith. You do not have to yield to him. I said, When the Son of man comes, will He find faith on the earth? /m2 "My Commitment this week- to lay hold of my freedom paid for by Christ and to let go and let God. Amen"For those dealing with obesity/food addiction/eating disorders:Holy Spirit, I want to lose weight, but I keep on eating, and eating. Help me to understand myself. Why do I eat when I am not hungry? What is it that I am trying to satisfy or fill up? My need for affection? My desire to feel full and strong? Am I confusing a feeling of weakness and inadequacy with hunger? Do I binge eat in order to smother my anger? Please Holy Spirit, give me the peace of heart I need in order to understand me. And help me to say "no" to myself, to control my urge to put something in my mouth, to acquire some self discipline. Help me to understand that my "no" is really a "yes" to the person you are calling me to be. Strengthen me to say "no" to myself and "yes" to You. Amen. from http://www.saintmarynb.org/prayerdiet.htm

Revive me! Weekly Reflections #1 ©www.christian-recovery.com
Col 3:1 So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. (MSG)
Christ presides over us if we have made Him Savior AND Lord in our lives.
We can call him Jesus and pretend to limp by and get into heaven by our coat tails, or He can be Lord of lords and King of kings in our lives, giving Him control as we accept His Blood shed for us personally.
We pray, "Thy will be done." But do we allow Him to work out the answers to the prayers we bombard heaven with? Do we tell Him what we want, how we want it, and when we want it? Or do we submit to Him, giving Him leeway to bring about the best and permanent solution to that which we need in our lives?
You can go on limping through life, or you can believe that He came to set captives free. The choice is yours.
Prayer: Lord God, I confess that I keep on doing the same things over and over which only brings about the same results over and over. Open my ears, eyes, and heart so that I might be open to You moving in a new way which will bring me the freedom that You desire for me. Amen
