Hey all! Sad to see the old guestbook go bye-bye...but hey, here we are again. Just dropping a line to see how everyone's summer is going. I've been keeping busy as a Jill-of-all-trades around Baltimore. Nothing like painting New Argentina drops at 1:30 in the morning to make you feel alive, right? :) Next stop...Six Dead Queens and an Inflatable Henry with The Mobtown Players...it's going to be something really special. Check me at stagemgrelby@yahoo.com or www.myspace.com/stagemgrelby.
Love and Hugs to all those who haunted the back hallway from 1997-2001!!

Well, Ian beat me to the punch and already posted the notification that I'm doing Much Ado About Nothing at Everyman Theatre, so listen to him and come check us out in that fine little show of ours. It's shaping up to be quite a good production. I'm also going to be in a show over at Imagination Stage in Bethesda, Maryland sometime starting in March. It's called Lost and Foundling. I'll post updates here for all to see sometime in the new year. Hope everyone is well, drop me a line if you want to hang out some time.

I'm an alumni now? Weird.
Greetings from The Windy City!
Jess Neilson, Haily Wineland and I are the new wave of migration to Chicago and everything is going splendidly, all working really hard, and staying crazy busy. I just closed The Elephant Man at Steppenwolf as the Stage management apprentice (basically the non-equity asm) and am moving on to something different for the next three months and then back at Steppenwolf for Dead Man's Cell Phone in the spring. If anyone is in the area and looking for tickets, get in touch! The other ladies are doing wonderfully and I'll let them make their own posts.
Happy (early) Thanksgiving everyone!

And on Jan. 1st, I'm leaving to go out as Associate Conductor/Keys 2 for the RENT tour. If anyone's around Bmore in early March, I think we hit the Hippodrome for a weekend, I'd love to see ya! For chicago people, we're at the Palace for a week in Feb! Check it out!

Hello Towson Alums!
I am writing to see if you are interested in auditioning for MAD BREED by Jacqueline Lawton at Active Cultures, the vernacular theatre of Maryland. MAD BREED begins rehearsals on March 29th and runs May 2nd 25th at Joe's Movement Emporium. MAD BREED was commissioned and developed by Active Cultures and will be directed b y Juanita Rockwell. Please contact Mary Resing at activeculturestheatre@yahoo.com or 301-526-9921 to schedule an audition for Saturday, January 12.
Below is a description of the play and a list of the roles we are casting as well as bios for the playwright and director. We are proud to say that although Active Cultures is a new and small theatre company, all artists are paid (they are paid only a tiny tiny stipend but they are paid something).
MAD BREED-- On the eve of their parents' wedding, the offbeat teenaged siblings of John Wilkes Booth decide to put on a play. When they are unexpectedly joined by an African American actress on the run, romance, Shakespearean verse and mayhem ensue. Experience the insanity, brilliance and over-the-top sibling rivalry of one of Maryland 's most notorious families one silly summer on their family farm in Belair, Maryland . CHARACTERS:
* Adah (30/16), beautiful, smart, brave, a free African American girl, who dresses up as a boy to perform in minstrels, incredibly talented, she adores Edwin. * Edwin (32/18), handsome, genuine, Junius' mentor, dresser, companion, and guide while on tour, he has personal aspirations to be an actor himself, he adores Adah. * Wilkes (27/13), terribly handsome, charming, scrappy, Junius' favorite son, precocious, racist, driven, a good, strong actor, and politically minded. * Asia (16), Junius' youngest daughter, creative, determined, and adores Wilkes to a fault, loves Sleepy for who she knows he could be, if he tried. * Sleepy (18), opportunistic, a bit of a playboy, Edwin's classmate, wants desperately to be a tragedian actor, but is more suited for comedy. This actor will also speak the voice of Shadow of a Man. * Blanche (16), a princess, ridiculous, a horrific actress, neighbor to the Booths, she loves Edwin to a distraction.
Playwright JACQUELINE E. LAWTON is the author of Blood-bound and Tongue-tied, Deep Belly Beautiful, and The Devil's Sweet Water. Her plays have been developed and received workshop readings at Didactic Theater Company in collaboration with the Kitchen Theatre (Round House Theatre); the Kennedy Center 's Page to Stage Festival under the sponsorship of the Shakespeare Theater Company; Rorschach Theater Company's Magic in Rough Spaces New Play Development Program, and Woolly Mammoth Theater Company (with support from Arena Stage). Most recently, Ms. Lawton's play The Devil and The Marine was written and produced as a part of Rorschach Theater Company's MythAppropriations. Ms. Lawton is a three time semi-finalist for the Playwright's Center PlayLabs and recently received the Young Artist Program Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities to fund further development of The Devil's Sweet Water (keep and eye out for that in February 08).
JUANITA ROCKWELL is a director, writer and dramaturge with over 20 years experience developing new works for theatre, opera, radio and multi-media. She recently directed Shoot the Messenger, a site-specific solo performance in a 100 year-old barn in Connecticut . She directed the workshop premiere of The Sound of Waves, a music theatre piece by Donna DiNovelli/David Rodwin, for Mabou Mines/Suite Resident Artists program. She was Co-Director of Squonk Opera's multi-media production Burn, which premiered at Pittsburgh 's City Theatre and toured nationally as Inferno. She also wrote/directed/co-designed A Cave in the Sky, a work with puppets, performers, and video, for The Artists at St. Ann's Puppetlab at The Culture Project in New York City and in collaboration with her husband, musician/sound/video designer Chas Marsh. Other productions she has directed include Moliére's The Misanthrope (Blue Heron Theatre, NYC), Beckett's Play (with sculptor John Antone at Washington Project for the Arts, DC), and James Sellars' music theater pieces Chanson Dada (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and For Love of the Double Bass ( Madrid, Helsinki, Yorkshire ).

Hey all! I think a reunion is well in order! Anyone know what happened to Monica Murphy? I haven't heard from her in years!
Glad to hear you're teaching for BSOM Michelle. Is Karla Kettler still there? She's actually a really old girlfriend of mine! Small world. I worked in admissions for them for a while too up here at the York Campus.
Been really getting the itch to get back on the stage. Thinking about auditioning for the local community theatre's "Into the Woods" It's been a LONG time!I'm pretty rusty!
Anyone I know have young kids- I'm all about play dates on the weekends- my boys are 4 and 6.
Give me a shout - mattmcdunnell@aol.com

So glad to see our alumni page make a comeback! What is there to say? I just celebrated my third year in NYC and it was the best year of my life for enough reasons that could fill an entire novel! Main highlights were getting to perform in the DC Fringe Festival (a group up here took the show down there), doing a short film with my brother for the first time ever, being in Verizon Wireless' network (I've done background on at least half a dozen of their commercials), a random appearance on Fox Business Channel during a promotion I was doing and a ton of other things. Oh and by the way, I saw John Glover in "Drowsy Chaperone" last summer. It was one of the best musicals I've ever seen on Broadway, so sad it closed. For anyone who's in NYC or visiting or just wants to say hello, please do so! E-mail is actorgersh21@yahoo.com or add me on Myspace http://www.myspace.com/actorgersh and you will need to enter either my last name or e-mail to add me. Also for all you Orioles fans out there (if you haven't abandoned them yet) I formed a fan club up here so if you want an invite to the next event when the season starts by all means let me know! Hope everyone is having a prosperous and exciting new year so far!

Greetings,
Wanted to tell everyone about a new project I'm creating, the booksailor podcast. BookSailor.com will be a new site launching within the next few months to help promote childrens books, childrens music, and childrens literacy. The web site is currently under construction and I am working feverishly to pull everything and everyone together. As it is my desire to have several weeks of material fully prepared before we go live, I am at this point actively seeking out authors and musicians who are interested in promoting their work.
I know few children who dont love being read to, as such the main focus of each weeks podcast will be the reading of a childrens book. This reading may be done by the author, by myself, or by another gifted storyteller/actor.(Anyone in the area who'd like to do a reading- let me know!) The podcast will be rounded out by book reviews, book recommendations, and music designed specifically for children.
The BookSailor target age range is 4-12. Most of todays childrens programming is, in my opinion, appallingly designed to simply sell more licensed and branded toys. I want to give parents an engaging, exciting, and enlightening alternative for their children. While the booksailor web site will include links enabling visitors to purchase the books and CDs that are highlighted in the podcast, we will also be regularly singing the praises of the public library system. (If this sounds a little familiar reading rainbow was a huge inspiration.)
If you would like your book or music to be considered for future BookSailor podcasts please send me a review copy of your work. I prefer a physical copy, but will accept digital submissions. Please contact me with whatever questions you might have at info@booksailor.com or mattmcdunnell@aol.com

Yay for Mini-Monique! Let us know the moment she makes her world debut! So fantastic! Laurie was right there in Rockville, but was in the process of moving to South Carolina.
So just a few plugs... I finished shooting an episode of America's Most Wanted, so that may be on television someday. The case was pretty horrific, so I'll spare you the details, but I've got a link at www.katedanley.com if you want more info (I played the "Cathy" mentioned in the article).
Also, I'm performing every Friday night in the improvised soap opera "Scandal!" at the Acme Comedy Theater, for anyone is out here in LA. www.acmecomedy.com
Aaaaannnnnd finally, I founded a sketch comedy group called Hair of the Mangy Dog and we've been invited to perform at the LA Comedy Festival this May, which is pretty nifty. So if you're around in May, come check us out! www.hairofthemangydog.com
I think that is officially it...

SO glad I popped on here. It has been a long time! Congratulations Monique! What a blessing! So nice to get updates...
I am in Hawaii, on the Big Island. I have been here for 3 months and it is heaven. I am running a retreat center, so if you have a group you would like to bring for an intensive. Please keep it in mind. I am going to attach my generic letter that I send to teachers. If it strikes your fancy or someone you know, please pass it along.
Otherwise, I have a fairly new e mail address, would love to hear from some old friends: Kundalinijeannie@hotmail.com
Love to all!
Aloha, Blessings and Namaste, I am writing you from our gorgeous oasis on the Big Island of Hawaii. We are a full service retreat center that will help you co-create an abundant and transformative teachers training or retreat for your students. We are located on 5 acres of serene grounds, our main studio is a bright and vibrant 40X20 temple with bamboo floors and windows on all sides overlooking the ocean. Our yoga deck has the same dimensions and has a full ocean view. Our sanctuary is pristine, and conveniently located to everything on the island, surfing, snorkeling, whale watching, rain forests, volcanos, white sand beaches, black sand beaches, hiking, and hotsprings. There are so many luscious things to do on the island. I would love to help you create your dream retreat. Teachers generally teach two classes a day and are compensated $2000 for every 10 students they bring, plus your airfare is covered, room and board. This is a great opportunity to really nourish your spirit while enriching your students. Our web site has additional information about past retreats and some pictures, WWW.EXOTICYOGA.COM I would love to talk to you more about your retreat. Please feel free to call me at 808-775-0177 or e mail with questions. Mahalo! Love and Sat Nam, Ardas

So I just filled out the accreditation survey, and it suggested I visit this board and share what I'm doing, so... I'm still in NYC, working primarily as a freelance costume designer and wardrobe stylist. I split my time between "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," the Metropolitan Opera, and a variety of TV/print wardrobe styling projects. (I recently worked on a show for Comedy Central, and also had my work on the cover of Entertainment Weekly!) I do a bit of theatre design as well--the last thing was the off-off-Broadway premiere of a new play in which all of the characters were vegetables and plants (no kidding!) If you're interested, my online portfolio is here: http://www.becky-frey.comHope everyone is well!

Hey everyone,
Good to see this thing is back up and running!! I miss it. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been busy getting my MFA in Directing from Florida State University. I start my third year in August. It has been a life long dream to get my MFA since my days at Towson. I'm not sure what is going to happen after, but I'm trying to just enjoy the ride now. I'm coming back to Maryland this summer to hang out until my semester starts in August. I'd love to connect with some of the old crew. Shout out to Conservatory- Fall 1995 (did I really write 1995...yikes!)

Also just directed in a Playwright Festival at the Eclectic where Kim Burns and Ketryn Porter were also performing. Oh and I've gotten into Radio Announcing and I air on KCLAFM.Com on the Kaleidoscope Radio Magazine, where I feature musicians I know or like or both, so if you want me to promote anything let me know. Hey all,
Just wanted to pass along news that I will be appearing in as many as three Orioles commercials for MASN this season. It is part of their "Defining Moments" campaign. It should start airing very soon since baseball season is upon us and I signed a release for them to air it all season. One of them will just be me and there may be two others that I have one or two lines in. It was one of the most fun things I've ever done and can't wait to see it. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm on Facebook if you haven't added me yet, so please do add me and keep in touch! All the best for the rest of 2009!

Hi All,
I guess I can make a post. I am unfortunately out of the theatre business for a little bit. I was working as the PA with the Baltimore Opera Company, but as I'm sure you all know BOC filed for chapter 11 in November, and eventually chapter 7 and liquidated all of their assets. Now I am working downtown with the Oxford Club, an affiliate of Agora Financial. But hopefully at some point in the future, I'll be able to find my way back to the stage. Hope everyone is doing well.

I wound up in a very strange area of theatre: ticketing. I spent over 3 years at Arena Stage in DC (including winning the International Ticketing Association's 2009 Outstanding Box Office honor out of 23 countries and 1200 members). Then the Washington Nationals hired me on to do Ticket Operations for them, so here I am...in sports. I keep calling the afternoon games matinees! Let me know if anyone wants in for a game if you're in DC.
Still Stage Managing on the side, including being Tim Gunn's SM for a benefit last year, as well as doing DC Fringe for a second year in a row.

Hey TU folk,
Just wanted to pass along the good news that I will be starting graduate school at Ohio University in the fall, where I will be pursuing an MFA in playwriting.
I'm back in Bmore at the moment spending some time with my girlfriend before heading to OU in September (I spent an AWESOME and pretty theatrically successful year in Chicago last year for those who don't know). If you're around, I'd love to catch up!
Otherwise same ole same ole. Writing plays. Playin music. Workin office jobs. My play "SPLIT" will finally receive a reading in the Windy City this coming May at Route 66 theatre company. And I've got some other projects up my sleeve which will hopefully come to fruition soon. Until then, I'm just pluggin' away!
Hope to see some of you at the Alumni thinger tonight! Ira
PS: Robert, Agora is awesome! I used to work at Pub Services.

Hey everybody!
Got hitched in September 2008. Completed the internship program at the Kennedy Center where I interned for Theater for Young Audiences, and am now the Program Assitant for American College Theater Festival. We just hosted the KCACTF National Festival a couple of weeks ago, which was an incredible experience. No dramaturgical projects right now, but doing some self-motivated research on whatever catches my fancy.
Definately happy and looking forward to what the future might bring. Hope you've all been well.
XOXO Taylor

Sorry I missed the shindig last night! I'm hoping to make it back there for something official eventually. I got married last September 6th during Hurricane Hanna. More dramatic lighting than anything I've ever seen on stage. I am still with the Delaware Shakespeare Festival and was promoted from Production Manager to General Manager last fall. Please send me your resumes because I'd really like to give work to my fellow Towson grads. lauren@delshakes.org. Best, Lauren

Heylo all. Great to see familiar faces at the Alumni Night. My wife Brandi and I just celebrated our 2 year anniversary. We have also been chasing around our bouncing baby boy Logan. I am currently working with Economy Auto Rental in Towson Maryland. It pays the bills. By the end of the year, if not before, Brandi, Logan and I are moving down to Orlando Florida to take advantage of the Theatre scene there. It is always good to hear good news and looks like there is a good amount posted here. :) -GRAIL

Hey all!
It was so fun to see you all the other night. I had a GREAT time! It was also nice to meet some new alumni who also reside in NYC! Well, as I gotto tell some of you the other night, I've been doing teaching artist work for Hudson Shakespeare Company as well as Shakespeare in the Valley. I've been doing text work as well as stage combat. I've also performed Regionally, Off-Off Bway, Off- Bway with two productions - one of which was the Strawberry One Act Fest (semi-finals). I've also done two World Premieres - FAT KIDS ON FIRE (Bianca) published by Penguin Press - and also nominated for the 2008 NYC Innovative Theater Awards and ALL THE WORLD'S A GRAVE (Guildenstern) - published by Penguin Press. Currently thinking about looking at the grad school option again, o maybe in the next year or two getting started on that route. So yes, again, great to see you all - my boyfriend thought you all were an amazingly connected group of people and he was thrilled to see me so happy and finallyput names to faces. Much love - Noelle Fair

Hello, fellow TSU Theatre Alums. Just popped in to see what everyone's been doing for the past decade. It's hard to believe it's been so long! I had an amazing homebirth experience in July of last year, which led me to change my nursing specialty and pursue a master's degree in midwifery. I am also working on developing a business advocating for women who want natural childbirth in a hospital setting. It's not as easy to achieve as you may imagine. I live in Western NY now with my gorgeous, amazing, wonderful nine year-old boy, Ian Patrick and my almost one year-old daughter, MaryElise Kathleen. I hope everyone is happy and healthy and being present in the moment. Heather

Hey Fellow-Towsonites! Guess who's dipping her toes into the wide world of webseries? I'm producing this show and make my grand appearance as the "special costumed character" at the end. And then I make my real debut in the next one, which will be released September 9th. Check it out! Leave us a comment!
