The Soil and Water Conservation Society’s 2007 Annual Conference will be held July 21-25 in Tampa, Florida. http://www.swcs.org/2007ac

The conference theme is “Conservation Challenges in a Changing Landscape.” The conference includes workshops, concurrent sessions, symposia, posters, plenary sessions, and technical tours designed to expose participants to recent developments in the science and art of natural resource conservation and environmental management on working land—the largely privately-owned land comprising working farms, ranches, forests, and rural and urban communities.

AUDIENCE: The SWCS annual conference brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers at all levels of government, business, and nongovernmental organizations to explore current issues in conservation and environmental management science, technology, practice, programs, and policy.

Conference Message Board: For those of you who would like to connect with other SWCS members attending the conference (to perhaps coordinate with others on arrival times, for dinners, or search for a tennis, golfing or running partner), we have implemented this Annual Conference Message Board.

DeWayne, this is a good idea. I will be interested in hearing from some people planning to attend the conference. I am planning to attend and should arrive on Saturday. I need to get with Ed Wright from Florida while I am there.

Hey Gang, anyone have a line on some of the things to do in the area? I wasn't very successful in my internet search. i'n not sure I'll have much free time as the schedule looks pretty packed, but if something especially cool was in the area, I'd like to sneak away for a bit and check it out. Trying to decide if it is worth it to rent a car.

Interested in “energy estimator” on-line tools? NRCS needs your help!

At the 2007 annual SWCS Conference, NRCS will sponsor an energy exhibit with a computer monitor set up so that attendees can learn about and try out the energy estimator on-line tools. We need several NRCS employees with field experience (and experience with the energy tools themselves) who are willing to spend some time in the booth to provide assistance and answer questions.

If you plan to attend the meeting and would like to help, please contact:
Dianne Guidry
Branch Chief, State and Field Communications
NRCS Legislative and Public Affairs Division

In response to Sarah VanDelfzijl and cool things to do in the Tampa area...I live here in Tampa, and there's lots of interesting things to do, it just depends on your interests. Outdoorsy stuff? Shopping? Theme Parks? Museums? Give me a topic and I'll tell you what there is within a reasonable distance. It also depends on what your time frame to travel to those interesting things is.
