excellent day on sunday 1st july on the back lake, weather was poor but the fishing was great,50lb of bream and a stunning 6lb tench on the back lake.Biggest bream was 6lb 10oz a new PB for me all fell to corn+pellet cocktail between 12.30pm-7.30pm went home smelly and covered in slime(nothing unusual for me)but it was worth it.Scott that carp did you really catch that or was you holding for someone.

Saturday 23rd June 2007. With no ticket for Glastonbury this year I decided to brave the weather and go fishing. I should not have bothered. I fished Peg 10 from 4pm until 10pm. The weather was shocking! There were some fish around but they were not interested in my corn, bread or luncheon meat. Maybe I should have bought some worms with me after all the rain we've been having. I missed a couple of bites and landed a couple if nice rudd about 1/2 lb each but it was s lot of hard work of very little return. I'm sea fishing this weekend as the carp match will take over the back lake all weekend. If I'm free I might nip down on Sunday lunch time (around 12) and see where all the hard feeding carp fisherman have been putting their baits and see if I can catch some nice tench from a pre baited swim on Sunday evening. Sometimes it not about working hard, it's about working smart.

I spent a few hours at the back lake yesterday evening from 5pm until 10pm(Sunday 17th June). It was a nice evening and I had a bunch of baits to use up from various sessions over the last few weeks. There was nothing much moving when I arrived and it stayed that way. I fished peg 17 straight out (about 20 feet)to the left of the lilly pads using corn and feeding brown crumb and generic pellets. I caught a nice bream of about 5lb but nothing else all evening.
I had a couple of takes on a floating crust on my carp rod as it started to get dark but nothing very positive.
Fresh baits and rethink for Saturday I think.

After a terrible match result i decided to go again on monday.I fished peg ten about 9 meters out next to the lillys and i caught a nice 16lb mirror. The bugga snaped the number 4 section of me pole and i had to go for a swim to get it back and land the fish. here's a picture http://www.luarybot.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1181634161_thumb.jpg

ok so i fished the back lake for the first time today(because im unable to fish the match tonight) i wasn't expecting much to be honest but as it turned out i had a great day.i caught at least 40lb worth of tench and bream with the biggest tench hitting the 7lb mark and if i didn't lose so many i probely would have doubled what i caught.Even gary the bayliff stuck around and watched for while. cant wait for the match on sunday.

I fished the back lake on Saturday 2nd June 3pm until 10pm. There were several shoals of carp high in the water between pegs 11 & 15. I spent the first hour or so stalking them. The carp were not interested in surface baits at all. I returned to my favourite peg 10. I fished a waggler float left of centre using a size 10 hook and five red maggots to deter the smaller fish. I fed "Super G" Green groundbait with brown crumb mixed in. It was very quiet until 6pm. Then it all kicked off. I caught two good bream (3lbs & 6lbs) and three tench (between 2lbs & 3lbs)plus a number of 1/2lb rudd and a few small perch. By 9pm everything went very quiet again. It was a very warm day and a cool evening and I think the quick drop in air temperature stopped the fish from feeding once the sun was set. I'll try again Sunday evening.

I took my chances with the weather this afternoon and returned to my favourite peg 10 on the back lake from 4 to 10 pm this evening (Sunday 27th May). I fished a method feeder out right to the lilly pads and caught two tench. 3 1/2lbs and a cracking 5 pounder which ran me all over the place on 4lb line. Both fell to 8mm white seafood boilies and a halibut pellet method mix. A huge thank you to the young lads in pegs 8 & 9 who helped me land it. I later moved to maggot feeder and caught five nice rudd all about 12oz to 1lb and a couple of decent perch. It didn't stop raining the whole time and the weather was getting worse when I whimped out at 10 pm. I left six brave souls down at the lake determined to fish all night. Let us know what you caught fellas. For future reference the lads fishing next to me discovered that "Pizza Go-Go" in Upminster will deliver to the lake. (c'mon!)

I fished peg 10 on the back lake on Saturday 19th. 3pm to 9:30. Red maggot feeder out to the right and a waggler about 15 feet out in front by a lilly. I caught one tench, a small perch and lost one decent fish (tench most likely) on the feeder. I had two tench both about 3 1/2lbs on corn fished on the bottom with a small bit of red rig/boilie foam to critically balance the bait so that it was easily sucked up by nearby fish. I fed brown crumb with small 4mm halibut pellets and some frozen corn (not tinned) mixed in. It was pretty chilly down there on Saturday and the bites were very fussy. I probably would not have caught what I did if it wasn't for the rig foam.
