I happened on the Cape Cod Beaches sight by accident. Saw the pics about "Voss City". At the end of the article was the statement, "not many people know it, but there used to be a bowling alley about a block up from Voss' store.'

That bowling alley was owned by my grandfather, Frank Weiler of Taunton MA. I have only one picture of the area and that is of my sister and I in our bathing suits- must have been 1936 or 7. I now live in Seabrook, TX (7 miles from NASA) and have fond memories of Swift's Beach and the bowling alley. After Labor Day Grandpa would package up all the left-overs from the candy counter and send it to us in Fall River. I was in FR during the '38 Hurricane and our Dad was very concerned that Grandma & Grandpa Weiler were injured - they were still at the bowling alley, not at home in Taunton.

HI, is anyone still maintaining this discussion board? Just wondering when the site will be updated to 2010. I agree that if the town isn't going to be able to maintain the beach then we should consider how to do it this summer. Thanks to whomever is keeping this site going.

To whom it may concern:

Greetings,

I am presuming the Swifts Beach improvement association is still in operation.

I am a resident living off Swifts Beach road and would like to know if there exists a beautification and maintenance committee within your organization. Clearly, the town of Wareham will have to neglect their own beaches this year due to budget constraints. I am hoping the SBIA will help to burden the responsibility of maintaining Swifts beach in a clean and orderly manner fit for public use. I would like to express my interest in volunteer activities with the SBIA to share in this role. Furthermore, is there opportunity to raise funds for improvement projects? Such things taken care of at this most difficult of financial times will only help to propel our cause in the future with respect to the upkeep and value of the Swifts Beach community.

Sincerely,
Gino Caretti

How about setting up a email mailing list? You can send info directly to the person? This would be great in May when the summer people show up and you can add a calander of events for the summer?

Sorry I'm not there but Oceanside, CA is nice. The beach was a "little" crowded on the 4th (around 150,000) but today is back to normal. Temp 73, water temp 69. Walt, I still can't deliver to your e-mail address.

We need a portable toilet on the beach! The poor kids. :(

Also, ban the "no dog regulation"! Bring back the plastic bags and ask the owners to use them. Anyone caught, $1000.00 fine.

Swifts Beach, ahhhhh. A little piece of paradise!
