/m14613 again- there was NO line of travel even available to copy! JUST ride along. it was completed and hanging at the blind case- properly typed up and the print was so small that i had trouble reading it-with my reading glasses, standing still. But I am expected to carry that, drive a LHD vehicle,
to never, never land?- and not have an accident-mis deliver even one piece, do the great customer service with parcels and acct-TO THE DOOR- take the keys(3)for the first time and know which is which, and on and on!
Never in my life have I been so humiliated and made to feel like I failed somehow- I had many "jobs" in life- I can only say- there is NOT even a LOW in my file- and will just leave now.

/m14613 you got it 10! you do have to develop a certain mind set if you want to not let it drive you nuts...It takes awhile GEEZ! you dont just get there overnight...it took me about 4 years to get to the point where i just shrug it off and go on....they send you out with no training? you just do it the best you can..I mean after all ...customer service is a thing of the past...they could care less how it gets done...as long as its done! Its not worth beating yourself up over...or getting all stressed out..at least they gave you some training...out of all the routes i know..i got training on 3...and the rest i got dumped into them. Just remember..the more you know..the more you know..its a good thing (usually!)

Geez, you have to be tougher than leather to be a mailcarrier. You can't just get stressed out and go home. There is always going to be something to stress you out. Rca's in our office carry routes without training quite often, they just take a copy of the line of travel and go for it. When you are a regular and bid off on another route, you don't get any training on the new route either. When I went on the route that I carry now, I didn't get any training and I had never even seen it before.

LOL- you got it- I am a lost cow! I do not have to plug my ears (the blood pressure thumping is taking care of that)
My regular carrier was THE only "co-worker" that even tried to assist me.
How would I know that a road has 2 different names? Blind at case, piece of mail- nope not here, and I mean 2 totally different streets/roads
nicknames that go back hundreds of years!
The advice from those about just go, get paid, etc.. I thank them.
I am in my 50's- never expected a career position-at this stage of my life.
Now I know-that is not going to happen, and I can't even just be part-time.

So if a sub has run a route but not cased it is she considered trained or not trained ?
I was told the junior sub could not run my assigned route because
she hasn't cased it before though she has taken it out and delivered it more then once ..PM told me she couldn't cover a day that I would really like to have off for that reason. If she has to run her assigned route then I understand it but otherwise from what you just posted they do it all the time.?
Also if a sub goes in on a route other then her primary the regular carrier
cases the mail and bundles it and the sub delivers the whole route should she not be paid the hours worked and the mileage?

okay...now im lost geez...LOL...the best advice i can give you is this...and its from experience...and hard to do...well for me...usually...I Just plug my ears in...and ignore everything in the office..i show up..work..leave...IF someone dont want to work...and I do..i go...if i dont want to either..I DONT! They cowed me for years and got me to do all kinds of things that made me stress....now i just let it roll on by me...threats and intimidation only work on those who let it affect their decisions...it dont even register with me anymore! When they realize that you dont care about it anymore...it changes the way they deal with you...at least here it does...they dont want to lose those that make their jobs easier.

/14602- supersub there you are! I appreciate your response, and have heard over and over (from veteran regs)about the challenge of doing a route blind.
You (clicked) on the threaded topic, and yes- I MUST fill in for the RCA (junior) that has been threatened from the time I was awarded the assignment for rr#1. We are a small office compared to some I read on here-
2 K rural routes- both have assigned RCA's (now, after the other one finally passed the test.) I was hired off the register, they a family member as a TRC. this went on for a year or so ,before My reg, finally was granted a relief carrier, and after I worked as a TRC hired from the register, but that office was only approved for TRC.-call in interview for an RCA was a mistake.
There is also a full city route and an Aux city route. I really could go on and on, there is so much friction and hostility, and the new wicked PM demands are too much for me.
Bottom line- the other RCA wrecked her (step)mothers RHD jeep, on duty- carelessly ran a stop sign- worked the next Sat- big hurry and arguing with OIC-again the missing in action Pm on the phone-
now she is working "limited duty" in office,((claims back injury from accident week +) before. mostly the days I work. presorting and -writing acct, dropping the key I am signing for on the floor, and unable bend over to pick up- I know MY limits- and I am there! It gets even more interesting that our "local steward" assigned to represent and grieve that situation- is the office I worked for as a TRC has been requesting my assistance, and I cannot cover there- by the way which is only a 10 minute drive, and I AM FULLY TRAINED THERE!!-my assigned office is 40+miles away-and I am fully trained on Rural route 1. 73+ miles south, compared to 76+ miles north in an area that I was not born and raised in-WTH- I would do better at an office area -that I was born and raised too.
As for the doctor thing and (good)insurance- I HAVE NONE!!! Which gives me the more anxiety of the symptoms, testing, etc..
just might be more cost effective for me to find a less stressful job- and give up.

For what its worth, I'm in far east central Iowa, and I filled up today for $2.89 a gallon. Wally world is even lower. I hope that all of you are doing as well or better. We needed a break of some kind.

/m14591 Geez..I dont know what to say..you are not the same as a regular no matter what anyone tells you...the running of another K route with only one day of trainging...thats nothing new...I run them "blind" all the time with no trainging whatsoever. All you can do is do the best you can..so they asked for a Dr. slip? go see a Dr get em one......and smile the whole time while you give it to them. If you got good insurance you can go to the dr quite often! like anytime theres something you dont want to do.

I know it sucks tho geez to be expected to run routes like this...with very little training..but hey...its the PO..they do us all that way...it only gets worse as the years pass!
