Rick Patino looks like an alien who has undergone plastic surgery numerous times. It's just a frightening thing to see him interviewed.
Anthony Davis looks like a combination of Bert (from Sesame Street), Scottie Pippen, and Derek Rose with a face stretched several inches both up and down.
Tommy Penders was nothing compared to these guys. I think I'm just too scared to watch the Final Four this year.

Go Skyhawks!
Unrelatedly -- and maybe this is an old story -- is Vander Blue related to Vida Blue?

My map may be an utter mess, but at least Stonehill made the final four. Go Hill or go home.
The Stonehill men's basketball team advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the second time in the Colleges history with a thrilling 91-90 victory over 3rd ranked West Liberty yesterday afternoon in Highland Heights, KY.

Sorry to bring things down, guys, but the foster son of a friend of mine is missing in Chicago. Please take a look, and share -- any information will help -- thanks.

Thanks for sending this, Mews. Sorry about the eagles. It was great seeing Bo Ryan bounced again as typically happens each year.
Can you imagine Jay Wright or Billy Donovan in Champaign--eating at a Bob Evan's just outside of Rantoul?
These guys are never coming to Illinois! The best chance is to get an up and comer and then just get ready to hire again when they bolt for a better job.

Or maybe it's this.
"Yeah heard that yesterday, some people think its Baylors coach, Scott Drew.
Heres some more info on that though, these guys are pretty much the guys when it comes to college high school/college hoops. This is where the rumor started:
http://ilprepbullseye.com/Plan_B_Illini.html
To take things a step further, further fuel was added to the fire yesterday when it was rumored that there is a head coach at a top 10 program (whether that means current top 10 program or one that has been a top 10 program in the past we do not know) who is disgruntled with his Athletic Director and could be looking to get out. That has led to endless speculation as to who this person might be. As a result, we have now heard names such as Sean Miller, Billy Donovan and Jaime Dixon come up for discussion in conjunction with the Illini coaching search
Then they say:
Another big name that has been rumored and coveted amongst many is Marquette head coach Buzz Williams. However, we have reason to believe that Williams will not be coming to Illinois. That is because a reliable source who is close to the situation has told us that Williams feels a strong sense of loyalty to his current players and therefore if he were to leave it would in all likelihood not be until after the 2012-13 season. We have also been told that Williams' buyout clause was renegotiated last summer and that it is considerably larger than the 100,000 figure that was reported elsewhere
I found the 2012-13 timeline interesting……"

Godfrey, apparently the Buzz to Illinois rumors (or at least him leaving MU) are not unfounded. This is coming from both sides.

The Illinois basketball program has always been wildly inflated by its fanbase as something better than it really is. During the Lou Henson era, there were some solid teams, but only one Final Four run. There isn't really a lot of history in the program. Lou Henson had strong rapport with the Chicago public league coaches which was further established by long time assistant Jimmy Collins. But after Bruce Pearl opened his mouth and Jimmy Collins didn't get the job as Henson's replacement, the public league relationship was never the same. Lon Kruger recruited Peoria and Bill Self tried to reestablish Chicago, but some of great players on the mid 2000 teams weren't even from Illinois (Deron Williams was from Texas). The Illinois job is like the Iowa job or North Carolina State job--just really average at best.
Since Mike Thomas likes throwing $2.5 MM at coaching candidates, I wish he would go after Sean Miller at Arizona. He's recruited the nation's best recruiting class at U of A next year, and he's got roots in the midwest. There's no way Miller would ever leave Tucson for Shampoo Banana, but I wish Thomas would at least try.

La Casa de Mews will be open around 6:30 tonight.
Everything I've heard about the Butler coach is that he's from there and very happy to be there. People speculated he would only leave for Indiana. Since that won't happen any time soon now, time to see if he really does like it there too much to leave.

Brendan, your semi-colon is salt in Illinois wound. Since you weren't here to hear it live this year, There Go the Illini!
What do you guys think -- does a Final Four run make a mid-major coach the next big thing? Is the Butler coach going any where?
