A "Big Well Done" to all our Club Members who took part in the SK8Scotland Open Championships and Scottish National Open at Dumfries this weekend.
"Congratulations and Well Done" to the following skaters who made the rostrum.
Marcus Hope 3rd Beginner Men, Andrew Fleming 3rd, Level 1 Men, Kirstin Edgar 3rd, Level 2 Ladies, Robert Alner 3rd, Level 3 Men, Ashley Mitchell 1st Level 7 Ladies and 1st Junior Ladies Solo Dance, Lewis Gibson 1st Level 7 Men, Thea Young/Andrew Fleming 1st Beginner Couples/Pairs, Heather Murdoch/Lewis Gibson 1st, NISA Novice Pairs.
"Congratulations and Well Done" to our Club Coach, Elise Scholes who took 1st Place in the Adult Gold Ladies.
"Congratulations and Well Done" to both our Synchro Teams. Gael Force took 1st Place in the Elementary Competition of the Scottish Synchro Championships, and Ayr-0-Dynamic took 2nd Place in the Preliminary Competition of the Scottish Synchro Championships.
A "Congratulations and Well Done" also goes to our two Synchro Coaches, Gail McKnight and Kirsty Cameron. Considering you have to do most of the Synchro training on the small pad, it's pretty good going coaches!
To everyone who took part at Dumfries I hope you all enjoyed the experience. REMEMBER, the taking part and skating the best you can is the most important thing, the rostrum is the bonus.

Hi Marianne,
You obviously did all you were told with your ankle, good for you!! GREAT to hear from your Mum that you won't need to have an operation, and that you have been given a "shoe" so that you can start puting a wee bit weight on the ankle. That doesn't mean to say that your Mum has to stop "running after you!!!!" Really pleased for you regarding the op. Keep looking after that ankle, a wee bit weight a bit at a time.
Everyone here thinking of you and hope to see you real soon.

Hi Marianne. Hope your ankle is not too painful. Pick a "good colour" of plaster when you go back to the hospital today. Hope your Mum is looking after you and giving you plenty of T.L.C.!!!!
We are all thinking of you and looking forward to seeing you back in at the Club real soon.
Take care, and look after that ankle.

"Good Luck to all our Club Members who are taking part in the "Ayr Open" this weekend.
This will be Ayr F.S.C's 28th consecutive Open, the first one being in 1982. A lot of "Opens", without a break, a pretty Good Record!!
"Ayr F.S.C.'s Open" is this weekend, it's a great Club to be part of, it's 51 years old, it's been going for quite a long time. Let's have another successful "Ayr Open in 2009."

It's an honour for every skater to represent their Club in an Open Competition. It's an even bigger honour for a skater if they have gained selection to represent their Country.
Ayr Figure Skating Club is very proud that two of it's members, Ashley Mitchell and Nicola Milne will be representing Scotland at the NISA Cup at Deeside next weekend.
Every Good Wish of Ayr F.S.C. goes with the girls for next weekend.

Rachel There is no general requirement that you go back through skate UK. Individual clubs may have specific standards for joining the main club just to make sure that you are not a danger to yourself or others. I am not sure if this is a general enquiry or a specific one for Ayr Figure Skating Club. But I suggest you contact the particular club you wish to join and give them information as to what level you reached. And they will be able to give more specific advice.

A "Big Well Done" to everyone who took part in the Club Competition last Saturday. "Congratulations and Well Done" to those skaters who made the rostrum, to those who didn't, there is always next time.
"Congratulations and Well Done" to Ashley Mitchell, who in the opinion of the Referee and Judging Panel skated the best overall performance for Levels 6 and above to win the "Mowat Trophy."
REMEMBER, it's not just the winning that counts, it's the taking part. Without you taking part, there would be no Club Competition.

Well done to all the helpers at the Dundonald Games. After much wading through the mud Gael Force managed to raise a very respectable sum of £582. The only problem we had was trying to find space for all the helpers. Pics available at the link below. http://www.afsc.org.uk/media/Dundonaldgames/index.html

Just to say "Well Done" to our Synchro Team "Ayr-0-Dynamic" who came 6th in the Elementary Section of the RJS Synchronized Skating Competition which was held at the British Synchronized Skating Championships at Ice-Sheffield on Monday. There was a total of 15 teams in this Section, so no mean feat coming 6th girls. Last year in this Section there were only 7 teams competing, so it just shows in the space of a year, how popular "Synchro" is becoming. In the short time since "Ayr-0-Dynamic" were formed, the team has done Ayr F.S.C. proud. As in Free Skating it is always better if you have the benefit of "Big Pad". We at Ayr unfortunately only get big pad, most of our session, on a Saturday morning. Before "Ayr-0-Dynamic" left for Ice-Sheffield, they only had one practice on "Big Pad" and that was at Magnum, because there was no ice available at Ayr. Under those circumstances, the team did extremely well, considering that most of their opponents would have been practising on "Big Pad" all the time. Keep up the good work girls, come to all the practices that your Coach and Manager ask you to (where physically possible)and then, "The Scottish" at Dumfires!! Another day, another competition. Helen

"GOOD LUCK" from everyone at Ayr F.S.C. to our Synchro Team, "AYR-O-DYNAMIC" who are travelling to Sheffield on Sunday to compete in the Elementary Section of the RJS Synchronized Skating Competition being held at the British Synchronised Skating Championship on Monday. You did us proud last year girls coming 2nd in this Section, then at Dumfries you did one better and came 1st. Hope a rostrum place may be possible for you again this year. Skate well and enjoy the experience! Helen

A big "Well Done" to all our Club Members who took part in the Magnum Open last weekend. To those of you who didn't make the rostrum this year, there is always next year.

"Congratulations and Well Done" to Heather Murdoch, 1st in Exhibition Level 5 and under, Kirstn Edgar, 3rd in Exhibition Level 5 and under, Heather Murdoch and Lewis Gibson, 1st in Exhibition Pairs, Laura Estcourt and Lucia DiMascio, 2nd in Exhibition Pairs.
Last, but by no means least, "Congratulations and Well Done" to Jennifer Holmes, one of our Club Coaches and an eligible skater, who with her partner Robert Murray (E.K) came 1st in the Pre IJS Pairs Event.

have you heard of the latest in the "Cutting Edge" trilogy? The newest film looks like it is going to be the best of the three! Look for it coming out on dvd soon. There is sure to be plenty of great skating action.
Championship figure skater Zack Conroy (Matt Lanter) is a brilliant but dangerous competitor, ignoring all risks in pursuit of perfection. But, when his partner and former lover is injured in a devastating fall, Zack finds himself on thin ice and in need of someone new. Enter the beautiful Alex Del Gado (Francia Raisa), a tough-talking hockey player whose raw, unrefined talent is surpassed only by her passion and desire. Tempers flare and sparks flyboth on and off the iceas the unlikely duo chases an impossible dream on the road to the world championshipswhere the only thing more dangerous than skating is falling in love.

"WELL DONE" to all our Club Members who took part in the SK8Scotland Championship and Open Competitions last weekend at Dumfries. "SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE" to the following Club Members who made the rostrum: Ashley Mitchell, 2nd Primary Ladies Dance Championship, Lewis Gibson, 1st Level 1 Men Open Competition, Heather Murdoch, 1st Level 1 Ladies Open Competition, and Heather Murdoch and Lewis Gibson, 3rd Beginner Pairs Open Competition.
"CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE" to our Synchro Team, "AYR 0 DYNAMIC" who came 1st in the Elementary Synchronised Skating Competition. There were 9 other teams in the Competition so this was a great performance from the Team. A "Well Done" has also got to go to their Coach, Gail McKnight, who has done a good job in getting the Team to this level. Only this March they came 2nd in the Elementary Competition at the British Championship at ice-Sheffield and now 1st in the Elementary Competition at SK8Scotland Championship and Open Competitions in Dumfries. GREAT!! "Well Done" also goes to the Team Manager, Lesley Millar, who keeps Gail and the Team informed of all the necessary changes within Synchro, and believe me, changes happen every minute! Keep up the good work girls.
To everyone who took part at Dumfries, whether making the rostrum or not this time, keep up the good work and keep practising hard. Helen

Helloooooo Everyone!
Everyone is fine at home Wee Helen! University is pretty boring the now, I think I've lived it as much as I can. Looking forward to the normality of getting a job and not living in the overdraf! Its murder! Haha. Spending my days and weeks travelling too and from Dundee, resident on a couch at the moment then the travelodge! Haha. What a life!
Glad to hear everyones having babies! Hehe, my brother and sister in law are now expecting twins! Auntie Julie for a second and third time and Granny Ann and Grandad Kenneth too!
No Liz, I'm not married yet, I'm only 20! Getting on a bit, I'll soon be catching up with you! :-P Haha!
Not skating much at all, try to in the summer when I can get home but I'm never in Dundee long enough to actaully go to the rink. ITs funny when I do go though, give everyone a laugh with me trying to rotate a double axel... I will get it one day, even if I break every bone in my body! Haha
Whens everyone on at the Scottish do we know days and times yet? I'm be trying to make an appearance if I can get home to see more trophies being brought in! I'll need to hunt out the jacket and promote Gail and Ayr again!
Much love to everyone! Keep in touch and tell everyone I was askign for them. Big hugs to Gail!

It would be good to see as many parents as possible at this year's AGM. There are important matters to be discussed, and hopefully approved, taking the Club through to our 2007/2008 Session. Try and be there if you can.

"Well Done" to all our Club Members who took part in this year's Ayr Open. "Congratulations and Well Done" to those of you who made the rostrum, to those of you who didn't, there is always another Open.
My sincere thanks to everyone who gave of their time before the Open, with all the preparation that had to be done,(things just don't miraculously happen)and to those of you who gave of your time during the two days of the Open.
My special "thanks" goes to John Donnelly, who for many years has been the Co-ordinator of our Results Room. His preparation starts way before the Open itself, and believe me, there has been a lot of preparation. I have been doing the results with John for a long time, and I appreciate the time and commitment he has given to the Ayr F.S.C.

"Congratulations and Well Done" to Catherine Estcourt who is the first pupil from Doonfoot Primary to become "British Champion" for stamp collecting. Catherine put together an eight-page book of almost 80 stamps which carried a farming theme and used stamps from around the world. Catherine travelled to London to present her book to the judges and came away winning the National Competition.

Glad I made it to Sheffield for the British Synchro Competion to see the "Ayr-O-Dynamics synchro team". I would just like to say "well done girls". You did yourselves proud especially as this was your first competion....what a way to start. All the staff at the Chelsea were asking how the team got on, glad to tell them you got a place.

"Congratulations" and a "Big Well Done" to our Synchro Team - "Team Ayr-o-Dynanics" who came second in their first Open Competition at Elementary Level. Considering the Team have to practice on Small Pad most of the time (occasionally getting the Big Pad)this is NO SMALL ACHIEVEMENT. Your hard work, dedication and commitment have paid off girls! This message would not be complete if "Congratulations" and a "Big Well Done" was not said to their coach, Gail McKnight. Unfortunately, Gail could not be there with the Team, but I can assure you all, that she was watching the clock and waiting on those texts!!

GREAT to see Ayr F.S.C.'s Web Page back up and running again. "A Big Thank You" to John and Kevin for getting us there. Good to see the "Skaters' Message Board", I know they always liked having one so it is great to see that back again for them too. A big "Well Done" to all our Skate UK members who took part in the Skate UK Competition last Saturday (24th February). "Congratulations" to all those who made the rostrum. It was good to see the support for the skaters, in what was probably their first competition, and a sincere "Thank You" to everyone who came and supported them. Just a wee reminder to all our Main Club Members who are doing the Club Competition on Saturday 17th March. This Saturday (3rd March)is the Closing Date, so if you have not put your name down on the list at the Tuck Shop, please do so now as NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. It is always good to take part in your own Club Competition.

Hey everyone - quick reminder that it is the SkateUK competition on Saturday 24th. First event starts at 9 sharp so all competitors should be at the rink for 8.30. The competiton will be on part of the big pad.
Main club session and group class on the rest of big pad, and Skate UK will still be on the small pad as normal for anyone not competing. The Group Class this week is a one-off payable on the day.
Good luck to everyone taking part on Saturday. Hope to see lots of supporters cheering on the skaters, for many of whom it will be their first competition.

The banter on here is almost as good as the Tracey (look, spelt right!), El and Ann Marie show in the tuckshop on a Saturday morning!
Brilliant website and video - well done John and Kevin, and to everyone who stars on the vid!
