The city government of Makati has ordered the closure of Astoria Hotel (now renamed: BEST WESTERB HOTEL) for multiple violations of the National Building Code of the Philippines (PD 1096). The business license of the said establishment was also revoked.
In a report to Makati Mayor Jejomar C. Binay, the City Administrators Office (CAO) said they issued a closure order on Astoria Hotel for its continuous refusal to comply with the requirements mandated by the law. The CAO said the hotel management has ignored notices served by the city government, which cited multiple violations, particularly provisions of Section 1207 on fire safety, Section 1301 on electrical regulation, Section 1302 on mechanical regulation and Section 901 on sanitary regulation.
The Astoria Hotel is operated by T.F. Ventures Inc. headed by its president Manuel Morato. It is a 26-storey building located at Makati Avenue corner Eduque Street in Barangay Poblacion.
