Compatriots Just found out James G. Poppell buried in the Seville Cemetery was a confederate soldier in Liberty Co., Ga. and was captured, He then Volunteered for the Union as a volunteer. His relative says he has a Union Headstone and wants to place a Confederate marker on his grave. The survey by Sisco Deen has him listed as a Confederate Soldier with no dates and a military Headstone Poppell, James G., b. 1841 d. 3 Nov. 1901(No dates on headstone) Co E, 3 US Vol Inf, CSA, Liberty Co., Ga. MH (Wife, Nancy A. Yarborough Poppell)
I will go up and see what type of HS he has. He has a pension record online so did fight for the south. Bill Morgan Historian/Genealogist
