FYI- I called the hospital, but Mark is still in ICU. This means family only...will post again if I find-out anything.

For those who don't know Mark Kimball...I'm proud to say...he was a High School teammate of mine & Collegiate All American at BU. Back in the day he and his older brother, Dean would duke it out with Buddy Bostick for Victory at the Yankee Homecoming 10-miler. You know..."the day"- back when non-Kenyan athletes would run 49-minutes for 10? Mark & Dean also introduced me to Buddy & together we enjoyed my 1st-ever post-race party at the Winner's Circle...I'll never forget it...been a regular at the Circle ever since. Just thought I'd share...:)

Matt Ely ( a regular Circle Race runner/winner) ran 49:58 @ the Broad Street 10M last month in Philadelphia. Don't think he has Kenyan roots ;>)

Running on the road continues to be a dangerous endeavor. Cell phones cause more accidents than ever. I do not even bother running on roads anymore unless I have to. I was down in Philly 2 weeks ago on a run when this dude slammed into tree about 100 feet from me. I was the first one on the scene not sure if he made it or not.

I remember the Kimballs when I was a kid in the 'Port, flying up the High School drive to the finish. Hope he comes out of it OK.

Medical Update on Mark from a friend:

They did a two hour surgery on his right hand, and he is still on morphine. I guess he had a bad concussion, as well. I'll keep you posted if I hear more. Shitty article in the Lawrence Eagle about it.

What I forgot to post was that I found out Mark was unconscious for a time...has a severe concussion & recently had surgery on his broken wrist...earlier report said no broken bones...this in addition to his bruised internal organs (lungs) & multiple externals.

More on Mark's recovery (present status) from my bro:
Mark is out of the ICU, but according to Tina, is not yet ready to receive visitors, because he tires easily and she's concerned that the extra demands could delay recovery. I guess he continues to display signs of confusion with increased fatigue, but compared to not even being conscious a few days ago, I reminded her that he's come a long way! :) I forgot to ask for an address. Tina says it does cheer him to know that people are pulling for him. so please continue to send think good thoughts! He should now be listed in the hospital's patient directory, so you could get his room # etc from them.

Thanks for the updates Tom. When he is feeling better, I would be interested to know how he feels about being referred to as a "jogger" in the news reports :)

I am a Timberlane Grad and remember well what terrific runners Mark & Dean are.

Hi all,
I've gotten several emails from people looking for rides down from the mountain. If you're driving down and have room for another runner, can you please post here to let people know? Getting down to the wire :) See you Saturday. Kristen

A fun time at the mountain! Took a few pics at water stop and post-race party. I took some video during the race, so hope to get that out soon.

Planning a wedding or just want to take a day off and know you will get a good day : contact Mike McCormick.
We just finished 8 weeks of Spring track workouts last night. Can you believe with the weather we've had that not one night got rained out ?
Thanks Mike for the guidance and encouragement.
Thanks also to everyone that showed up as it was a great time to run with you. I'd like to encourage club members to attend the fall sessions in Maudslay. Take advantage of the great opportunity.
See you in the fall !
