Does anyone have a copy of "once a Runner" I would like to rent or borrow. I tried to buy one and there is a cult thing going on. They are $100+ on ebay or Amazon. I gave mine away a few years ago. forgot who I gave it to.

I am sure that many of you who ran yesterday's Half at Hampton have already heard the tragic news about Bill Paradis, but here is part of the article from the Fosters this morning:

HAMPTON — Longtime, long-distance runner Bill Paradis died of an apparent heart attack on Sunday while running the half marathon, Half at the Hamptons.
Paradis collapsed at about mile 6 of the course and was taken to Exeter Hospital, but could not be revived, according to family and friends.
Paradis, 55, was a member of the Rochester Runners Club and was renowned for his encouragement, generosity and sense of humor.
He and his wife, Kathy, have worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for over 20 years.
Paradis' fellow runners from the Rochester Runners Club were shocked to hear the news of his death on Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday evening, club member Mary Ulinski said she had hoped that Paradis was not the man she saw lying on the ground at mile 6 of the half marathon. She said he was surrounded by EMTs, so she did not know it was Paradis until she finished the race.
Ulinksi said that a fellow runner asked her, "I wonder what that is all about?" as they passed Paradis, and she responded, "It doesn't look good."
When she reached the finish line, she was devastated to learn that the man was indeed her friend.
According to his fellow club members, Paradis had been running Sunday's race with his friend, Diane Levesque, and was complaining that he couldn't catch his breath. Not long after, Paradis collapsed on the course.
He joined the Rochester Runners club later in life, but once he started, he ran multiple marathons every year.
"He told me he was always training for a marathon," said a family friend and running partner, Janet Glazer, of Dover.
Paradis flew all over the country for various marathons, Glazer said.
"It was his goal to do a marathon in every state," she added.

Congrats to Chris Kealey for running a great time in the Master's Mile race at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games track meet this past weekend. Chris ran a 4:35.79 mile for 6th place, a 5 second improvement over his time at the GBTC meet at Harvard's indoor track a week earlier. Wished I had seen his Reebok performance! For those that might be interested next year, you can participate in any of the non-invitational events at the GBTC meet and run in time seeded heats against high school, collegiate and wannabee track star runners. I recall the entry fee was only $15 per event.

Did anyone see "spirit of the marathon" last night ? I know it is coming back to theaters Feb 21 for a second showing. I was a little last minute and it was pretty much sold out as it wasn't at a lot of cinemas last night.
Just wondering what you might have thought about it.

Eddie, The Hood to Coast relay idea looks like it would only work if there were a few Circle members wanting to be part of a larger preexisting team w/ vacancies (since the relay is already "full"). I'll look at the Hood to Coast bulletin board and see what openings exist & see what's feasible right now.

It looks like we will have a WCRC men's senior team to compete in this years USATF-NE grand prix series. New Bedford 13.1 will be our 1st team race on March 16th. So far we have David Kelly, Dennis Donoghue, Don Hennigar and myself. Anyone else up for a road trip is more than welcome to join us. We will have room for one more in our vehicle and if there are others interested we can work on a second . The second race in the series will be in Nashua Nh. 6km. on May 11th. I ran at Governor Dummer (being a local I refuse to call it anything else)this past Tuesday. What a great option to get some speed work in. A little hard on the body on the corners doing 200 repeats but generally speaking a great local place for a workout...and the forecast for this Tuesday is in the teens! Thanks to Mike M and Maureen Carroll for helping facilitate this. Hopefully we can make it an annual tradition.
