Reach The Beach Help!
Looking for help. We have a team registered for the 200 mile Reach The Beach relay taking place this weekend (see http://www.rtbrelay.com/index.shtml for details). Our team name is the Slow Mows. One of our team members bailed out on us last night. We are looking for a replacement runner to fill our team of 12. Anyone interested in running this race, please contact (Chris Golas) at chris.golas@comcast.net or 603-926-1123.
We're a no frills team consisting of a mix of all ages.
Thanks.

It was nice to meet several folks last night at the meeting. Thanks for making a new member feel welcome (I was the fairly tall, obvious Clydesdale for life who recently moved from Alaska for those that I didn’t get to chat with).

I’m terrible with names, so feel free to chastise me for forgetting all of yours when we meet again. I’ll see you around at WCRC events, meetings, and out on the road.

Mike, didn't have to much of an opportunity to talk, as I was trying to hog the microphone, but I, Dave LaBrode, am in charge of the uniforms. If you are interested I am usually at the Circle for the Thursday runs at 5 PM and will be at the Trick or Treat Race. All the appreal is kept at the Circle.

Good to see you and enjoy the Club!

Hi everyone,

I finally received a whole slew of pics from the High Street Mile. Kathy O'Neil, good friend of Kristen Broderick, took these great pictures.

Hi Kathy; Our group did kind of fall apart over the summer months, but many of us are looking to resume the Sunday 8:00am runs from Synergy and also are just starting to get back in the routine of the Tuesday night runs from Synergy at 4:45pm. What kind of distance & pace do you run?

Many thanks to all who helped out at the Trick or Treat 5k yesterday in Newburyport.
Special thanks to Bob and Cathy Manning who showed up despite the death of Bob's mom the day before. Also Mike Fiene for filling in at the last minute to do a great job timing.
Race went superbly well because of the experienced dedicated people who worked the race.
The Newburyport High class of 2010 is most grateful.

We had 150 finishers including many WCRC members, many taking home prizes.
Chris Kealy 3rd, Joe Gurczak 1st master, Kathy Long 1st master, Ted jones 1st 60+-call them Vets? The Mackie family best costume!

Have some great finish line pictures with our new set up, aka 'Strouty Towers' and Newburyport High in background

Charity Slots Open for the Boston Marathon
------------------------------------------

Dear Winner's Circle Running Club,

26.2 Miles with the Boston Living Center

We are Boston Living Center and we are currently looking for applicants for our running team for the Boston Marathon. Please forward this to your members and any interested individual who want to participate in the Boston Marathon. Thank You

The Boston Living Center (BLC), New England’s largest community and resource center for people living with HIV/AIDS, was selected as one of just six new charities of the Boston Marathon®. As the only AIDS service organization represented, the BLC is honored to be part of this elite race. Funds raised through the marathon will support BLC’s education workshops empowering members to become advocates for their own health and well-being.

The BLC is accepting applications for its 2008 “Running for Life” team.
Runners with a commitment to HIV/AIDS and an understanding of the demands of marathon training are encouraged to apply. Team members will benefit from fundraising and physical training support, and pre-and post race celebrations. Qualified runners may also join the team. For an application, visit www.bostonlivingcenter.org/marathon.shtml.

Your stories/pictures from past Thanksgiving Day Maudslay XC race.

Hi everyone,

I want to get the Newburyport News & maybe another Southern New Hampshire paper to do a nice profile of the Turkey Trot. There were almost 900 runners in this race last year and yet all you heard about in the local papers was T-day football!

This race has a rich history with many personal stories. Teddy Jones running 17 years in row. Lou Ristanio taking a wrong turn. The snow & ice, the bitter cold, the recent balmy weather. John Wile has made this race one of the best races in eastern Mass and should be recognized for his efforts.

If you have stories, quotes, pictures, please send them to me: chris.kealey@thermofisher.com or post them here.

Thanks
Chris

Mt. Hood to Pacific Relay!!
An encounter with an Oregon runner on a recent biz trip alerted me to what is described as the 'World's biggest relay race' and the 'Mother of all relays' etc. It certainly looks like one hell of a unique adventure. If we can put together a Winners Circle team in the next few months before the event fills up, it would be an interesting alternative to a marathon trip (a la Big Sur or Medoc) - the date is Aug. 22, 2008.

Has anyone in the club done this event already?

Best think toward 2009. 2008 is already full. You needed to get the app. in on October 17. From their site: Registration for 2008 opened October 17, 2007. ONLY Hood To Coast entries postmarked or originating (if using express mail) on October 17th were considered.
