A group of Greater Newburyport Moms and The Winner's Circle Running Club have decided to put on a 2.62 Mile benefit fun run to support The One Fund! A tentative date of June 2 at 10am has been set with registration opening on May 17th. The race will be held at Cashman Park and the Rail Trail.

If you’re not racing or working Saturday morning, come on down to Cassidy’s 5K, I could use some experienced helpers at registration, parking and on the course. If you’re looking to keep those legs sharp between the Fool’s race and the Roses race, there’s a new 5K on April 27th that starts and finishes at the same location as those races (across from the Circle), but on a new course along the Ghost Trail and some quiet side streets. The race is to benefit a local family and their daughter Cassidy. Cassidy was born with a very rare genetic disorder called Treacher-Collins Syndrome and will require multiple corrective and constructive surgeries as she grows. The 1st Annual Cassidy’s 5K and Fun Walk is for a great cause, please help support it.

Training Run Still on for 2/10
HOWEVER:
There is an on street parking ban in effect in Newburyport. So best place to park is The elementary school('Bresnahan') nearby- best reached via No. Atkinson St.- about 1/4-1/2 mile away. Sorry. You can park on sreet at your own risk
AND
Roads are still very snow covered and narrow. Stretches in W. Newbury are bare in middle of road, but sides are snow covered. It will be slow going and car dodging at times.
Route is out and back like last run.
Drinks at 3.7 miles- #381 middle Rd. Rick Walsh's- and at 8 miles.

WCRC Annual Meeting DELAYED UNTIL MARCH 2 - The WCRC Annual Meeting, with elections and winter party was scheduled for Saturday evening February 9 at the Winner's Circle. However, due to the snow storm the board decided last night to postpone the annual meeting until Saturday evening March 2. The extended delay is not ideal but was necessary due to the fact that the upstairs at the Winners Circle is already booked for other events every weekend evening until then.
The fifth in the series of Boston Marathon training long runs is scheduled for Sunday February 10, hosted by Stella and Mike McCormick in Newburyport (see the "Running" menu on the WCRC website). This run is still on as originally scheduled. We will post information on-line and send out a club email if the status changes between now and Sunday.
