Hi Dave
I just wanted to alert you we have gotten word that Boston is going to close out very soon. Apparently before Thanksgiving and maybe a lot sooner than that…. so if you plan on running, you’d best get your app in NOW.
Here is the on-line Boston Registration link: https://registration.baa.org/2010/cf/RegAthlete/pg_WebApp.cfm?mode=start
If you are one of the people on the waiver list – and have not heard back yet… I will be make those decisions in the next 24 hrs and will let you know. Then get those waivers mailed ASAP.

FYI the BAA emailed today that the Boston 2010 field is filling rapidly. They are encouraging those planning to run to register ASAP. I heard through the mill that they expect the field to fill early in December this year.

The Mill Cities Relay will be run on Sunday December 6, 2009. This is the Running Club Championship of the Merrimac Valley: a relay team race open to invited "mill cities" clubs only (including WCRC). For more information contact Derek Dorval (ddorval@northreading.mec.edu) or Laurie Gaudreau (lgaudreau@yorkhospital.com). The Mill Cities Relay is an “all hands on deck” event for the club. All WCRC club members are encouraged to participate. There is NO LIMIT to the number of WCRC relay teams. There is NO COST for WCRC members who participate (the club pays all race fees). EVERYONE has a good time! Check out the past results (http://www.millcities.com/mcr_points.htm), you’ll see that WCRC has been a “player” at Mill Cities for many years.

The five relay legs are 5.6, 4.75, 2.5, 9.5, and 4.75 miles. You can check out the course map at http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=65668 or at the Mill Cities website linked above. All of the legs are relatively fast. There are some minor ups and downs, but there are no “4000 footers” between Nashua and Lawrence. There are men’s, women’s, and mixed teams in 16+, 40+, 50+ and 60+ age divisions. The relay starts at 8:00 AM. The racing is wrapped up by noon, but there is a great multi-club post-race runners party at the Claddagh Pub at the finish line in Lawrence that makes it worth staying into the afternoon if you can.

If you would like to participate on a WCRC team at mill cities, send the following information to Derek and/or Laurie. DON’T BE SHY, VOLUNTEER TO RUN FOR THE CLUB. IF YOU SUBMIT YOUR NAME YOU WILL BE PUT ON A TEAM – NO ONE GETS LEFT OUT.

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Email address:
Telephone number:
Typical pace (or time) in a 5k or 10k:
Time-of-day/leg restrictions or desires:

Please try to be flexible in considering the relay legs. The best thing is to reserve the entire morning and say “I’ll run any leg on any team!”. Keep in mind that Derek and Laurie are going to be organizing 18 or 20 WCRC teams across 12 age/gender divisions. The more restrictive you are, the less sleep they’ll get!

My wife (Sharon) and I are both WCRC members and would like to enter the Mill City Relay. She runs an 11 Minute pace (up to 5 miles) and I run about an 8:30 (up to 10 miles). Can anyone advise how we can get on a team? Thanks.

Very impressive showing by Don Hennigar's boys team against North Andover yesterday. 7 out of top 9 runners were NBPT. Top 9 all under 17:00. According to Don the winning time by NA's Varney (15:34) was 3rd fastest ever in the 23 history of the course. Only slower than Darrin Shearer (15:12) and Travis Landreth (15:16). Big meet next week against Hamilton Wenham.

Good job to the Men's Masters team, Lake Runners, who ran at Lake Winnie on Saturday. They came in 17th overall, 5th in their division. Hope you all had a good time. Here are some pictures from the race. Thanks! Kristen

The timing crew is looking for Finish Line clocks. Anyone know where they disappeared to? They were going to be used this past weekend @ the Clipper Relays. Unconfirmed rumor has it that Labrode was testing them over the weekend in preparation for the often disorganized Bobby Bell. ;>)

p.s. NBPT Clippers Boys made a very strong showing of the 175 teams. Congrats Don Hennigar.

Anyone have any recommendations for firewood purchase? My usual guy did not do the firewood thing this year and I need to buy a cord.

Thanks

RAGNAR RELAY RUNNER NEEDED!

A coworker of mine needs a runner for the Ragnar Relay (CT to Boston) coming up September 11th and 12th. I can't do it 'cause I'm still broken. They are trying to find a runner to run the following legs: 7.6 miles, 7.5 miles, 5.3 miles, 20.4 miles total. They were hoping to find someone who runs at least 7:10 pace in a 10k. There would be some cost involved to cover van rental and maybe substitute runner fees ($50-70). I know a lot of the runners on the relay team from work and they are good people and a good mix of casual runners and at least one that qualified for Boston in 2010. Contact Michelle Wagner at mwimages@hotmail.com for more info or if you are interested in joining her team.
