Does anyone have a link to photos from the bikini run? I've already seen the ones on Jim Rhoades website, but there were a lot of photographers there.
I find it a little strange that about 4 different photographers have pictures of me running in a bikini, but I cant find any of them online. Don't event photographers like that want exposure? I know I want to see the pics of me!

Does all of this have anything to do with Jack Karoack? I don't really care to picture him running around Lowell in a bikini.

Yesterday was my first race at this series, and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the course and times run. Considering there were "only" 200 or so people, having a decent swath of 17:00 to 19:00 finishing times is considerably better than your average series 5k. I think I'll have to run the rest of the races in the series! Good course, and good competition!

I'm a "regular participant" and Lowell IS my home town. I might actually have a chance of winning something if the other "regular participants" that live further away were weeded out by an earlier start time. :) Come on Fall series! Please. :)

Amoung the many reasons the Good Times series is successful is that it starts at 7pm.
If you look at the results and observe the home towns of the regular participants the wisdom of 7pm should be quite clear.

Carol, I am a serious runner but I injured myself last fall signing for tons of races so its like I'm starting over again. A born again newbie runner. My mileage is little as I am building my miles up at a snail pace but planning to build them up high over a long period of time. Anyways, I'm pretty slow right now and I bet you could beat me. I used to be the one finishing last or near last. I was in that category this year for the first couple races. ALL ABILITIES WELCOME!!!

Is this group for serious runners of could someone that is active but not necessarily a runner try it out? I spin, cycle and go to the gym but haven't really been a runner. I would like to try with others to get disciplined in a weekly series but wondering if others show up that are just starting out as well to possibly partner/run with?
Thanks

<<< I plan on running a legit run each race.
Once you get to know me, you will notice that I'm quite frank in my discussions. My reference to "cheat" wasn't accusatory or personal to your effort, just my analysis of such a challenge as you set before us.
<< My biggest challenge will next Tuesday. I'll be running the BAA 5K on Sunday, then the Marathon on Monday, and finally, the Good Times Run on Tuesday. I should be in a lot of pain and will need to finish sub 21 by next Tuesday if everything goes as planned tonight.
My guess would be that by next Tuesday night around 7:25pm at the Good Times finish line you will be very glad those 6 or 7 steps to the right of water jugs do in fact go UP instead of down.

I plan on running a legit run each race, without holding anything back. I didn't expect to beat my PR from a few years ago at the first race this year so I am hoping to continue the streak for the rest of the series.

<<<< Have you ever had any one set a PR at every race in one season? That's my goal for this season.
That is technically possible if you were to control your race and engineer the last mile to just create a PR without going too much which would make all subsequent attempts less likely to succeed.
However, on predict your time night, unless you cheat, you will have no way of knowing where your are relative to where you need to be.
You've quite a challenge.

Hi Mary, thanks for your question. Our course is not suited for jogging strollers. The sidewalk along the VFW highway if very narrow with high fencing on one side and guardrails on the other. Besides the safety concerns, it would be impossible to pass a stroller on this section. Dave

Only thing was wearing my tie-dyed speedo I ran my fastest time this year! Could this work every week? Naw, I couldn't put you folks through that torture!!

Laura, Can you contact me directly with your time. I checked the order of finish list and select time list and your number is nowhere to be found. If I have an idea of what time you ran, then it will help me figure out what went wrong. Thanks, Dave dave@coolrunning.com

I'm answering cause I'm not sure how well this forum is monitored by the powers that be; however, there are some extremely fast runners as well as some extremely slow runners. Last Tue the fastest ran in 17 and change and the slowest was 46 and change. It is also a pretty friendly crowd and I think you both would have fun.

Hello, I was thinking about running this Tuesday night with my 13-year old son. Neither one of us are strong runners, in fact it will take me awhile to finish the 5k. Is this the run for us or should we look elsewhere for a more amateur event? Thank you for the responses.

Suggestion. Not that I may ever PR again, but on alternate weeks could you read the PRs from fast to slow so that (i) I can get home before 8:30 and (ii) there might actually be people still around to witness it. Thanks.

did you hear Carlos David Roa son of Carlos Roa won the Athlete of the year award for the NYRRC age group 14-19. That is 17 years after Carlos Roa won the award but the overall award. Does anyone know if Carlos Roa knows of his children, they are great runners as he was.

We don't ban baby strollers, however you need to consider the width of the sidewalk on the north side of the river. It is very narrow and in the past I have received complaints from runners that they were unable to pass baby stoller runners.

About Carlos Roa's children, I know a bit, the father Carlos Roa SR. was a great runner in his day, they run for the same team that i do, West Side Runner's, one of the best Teams on the east coast if not the Country, i'am not sure if the Roa's have more runners in the family, maybe the do, if you like my contact# it's 917-941-7902, all the best, Stephen Marsalese

Tracey,
Absolutely. Just show up at at Hookslide with $10 each week. They'll give you a number the first week, and you will have that number every week for as many of the summer races that you want to run. You turn in the number after every race, and pick it up before any future races you choose to run. The races start at 7:00. Best to show up around 6:30 to get your number and warm up.

The race finishes on the back portion of Boarding House Park, on the riverwalk. From the Old Court, follow John Street (Left out of the Old Court), left onto Merrimack, and right onto John Street). Follow the street to Boarding House building and go thru the large entrance (kinda looks like a gatehouse entrance). Check the "Maps" section of the website it will give you a good idea.

We are still on for tonight, however the bike path is flooded so we will be running a modified course. We will start at Boarding House Park go north up Father Morrisette Blvd to the UMass Lowell bridge. Cross and go right down the VFW Hwy (please stay on the sidewalk). Cross the Aiken Street Bridge and proceed straight and taking a left onto Father Morrisette Blvd. The race will end at Boarding House Park.

[Hi Folks, long overdue responses to your questions. I'll try to stay more current with the discussion forum now that the series is in progress. Thanks for your questions.]
Richard, We received your check and entry but misplaced it (it actually got stuck to another envelope). It'll be cashed this week. Sorry for the delay hopefully it didn't mess up your accounting too much. Dave
Leah, Season passes are welcomed at the door through week 3. At that point it makes no sense to purchase a season pass since it is cheaper to just pay weekly. Dave
Stacey, As a rule we don't send confirmation, however that is something I'll consider doing for the Summer Series via email. Dave
Katy, The cost is $10 at the door. Dave

Welcome to the discussion. Have something you would like to share with fellow Good Time runners; post it here. Have an idea on improving the Good Times Series; post it here. Want to let fellow Good Timers in on your training techniques; post it here. Want to sell that old couch; go to Ebay. Hey, just kiddin. You can post that here too! Hopefully this discussion board will allow Good Timers to stay in contact with each other so post it here!
