Some ideas involving legislation to help control energy usage, carbon dioxide emissions, and limit resource waste...

*Pass legislation to make auto manufactures meet a minimum MPG rating on all new vehicles. MPG ratings must be determined by 2 or more independent sources

*Pass legislation to limit the number of miles a vehicle can be driven each year – tax excessive mileage over a national average and use funding to cover SS deficits

*Pass legislation to implement an energy tax that penalizes EXCESSIVE energy consumption

*Pass legislation to make it mandatory for all medium and large sized corporations to implement a white paper recycling program

*Develop a lights out and computers off initiative supported by an extensive marketing campaign - focus on encouraging all employees to turn lights, computers, and computer monitors off when leaving for the evening. Direct this campaign to homeowners as well.

SINCE WALMART IS THE BIGGEST SELLER OF CONSUMER GOODS IN THE WORLD I ALSO THINK THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IMPLEMENTING THE LARGEST RECYCYING PROGRAM IN THE WORLD....BASICALLY OFFER FULL RECYCLING CAPABILITES/FACILITIES AT ALL THEIR STORES FOR PACKAGING AND PRODUCTS BOUGHT FROM THEIR STORE. A GOOD PR MOVE TOO.....

With all due respect to all the good ideas and work that is being done to lower carbon dioxide emissions… The only way that anything is really going to change for the better, with respect to the environment and the human condition, is to elect new leadership... leadership with a twin action focus: peace and sustainability. All the rest is just static. We don't have time for static. I've just produced a program... crazy and bizarre... but focused on the POWER OF COLLEGE STUDENTS. The power to sway any election... every election... towards leaders who will only have this twin action focus, PEACE and SUSTAINABILITY... Check it out. Think about it. Act on it. The earth is in your hands and talk talk talking about things is the slow motion/ain't gonna happen approach to the problems.
