i too got screwed on last years taxes. sooo..... lets talk about this at the next BMA meeting or we can complain about it at happy hour. ciao.

oh and not to mention that we are the ONLY big city with this type of tax because the city considers it a "priviliege" to start a business in Philly

Its called the Business Privelege Tax and as an IC you must pay bpt in Philadelphia. It doesnt make any sense though because we are just couriers, not businesses. But apparently you must pay and ALSO have Business Privelege License which costs $250, oh and they wont set you up on a payment plan until you have the license. Ive heard rumblings of people trying to oust this tax, even a poster on the side of a citypaper box. I believe i will mention this next meeting. (eric if you are reading this add it to the agenda.)

BTW it wasn't for the regular fed. taxes, but for some crazy city tax that i've never even heard of. I pay all my taxes and always have, but i do 'em myself.

Did anyone else get a letter from a collection agency hired by the city about back taxes for IC work, and fines for not having a small business license? I chcked it out and they are ligit. They are saying I owe 5 grand!! I obviously can't pay and need to get out of it. Anyone else get this, and am I the only a-hole that responded?

5/30 Philly Critical Mass...does anyone know how the crash victims from may's critical mass are doing? it happened at the bottom of the 5th street tunnel about 45 min. into the ride. it effectively broke up the mass. hope everyone's doing well, or getting better

Thanks for all the support the philly girl's race is July 19th if anyone needs to know. Also, after our organizers meeting we decided we had plenty of stuff to offer a powderpuff prize, so, if any of you boys feel like racing in drag there will be one good prize for you to win.
