Thought ARC members might be interested in this:

Dear Members and Committee of Aldridge Running Club,

I am writing from Walsall Hospice, a local charity, to invite you to a special event we are hosting this coming January. On January 3rd 2010 we will be putting on a 5k “Turkey Trot” around Barr Beacon in order to raise money to staff and equip the new Walsall Hospice being built at the old Goscote Hospital site. Participants can run, walk or jog around the route, but we would like to invite local running clubs to be at the front of the race leading the other people on. This event is ideal for you and will also allow you to promote your club to the general public by turning out as a group to support Walsall Hospice. Flyers will be available soon, and registrations can also be completed online via our new website, www.walsallhospice.org.uk . If you would like to attend as group, please let us know, as we would like to identify people we can use for press releases to advertise the event. This, again, would provide further publicity for your running club as you would be named in the press release.

We thank you in advance for any support you can give us. I will forward more details about the event nearer the time so you can pass the information on to your members. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss other ways in which you can support Walsall Hospice.

Kind Regards,

Bartons Arms – Friday 16th October.

Liam’s reign as Chairman will draw to an end at Tuesday’s AGM and we’re planning to ‘celebrate’ his two year tenure with a visit to the Bartons Arms, Aston, on Friday 16th October.

The Bartons Arms is one of the finest examples of Victorian pub architecture in the country, but perhaps more relevant to ARC is the fact that they serve up some cracking real ales and some terrific Thai cuisine!

So make a note of the date for now, and over the next couple of weeks we’ll make copies of the menu available so that food can be pre-ordered.

So relieved that you are ok Tatum and I hope your mum and dad and boyfriend have also recovered from the shock. Don't worry or feel embarrassed about it, it was a horrible experience for you and one you're sure never to repeat! Take it slowly when you start back running to make sure you are fully recovered and look forward to seeing you smashing your PB in the near future x

Thanks to Liam for organising a great trip to the Somme Poppy runs. We are pleased to be able to report that ARC members lived up to their reputation for running hard & celebrating even harder!! Well done everyone & thanks for a great trip- its good to see that that Renee & Edith Artois are still alive , well & living at the Hotel Moderne!
