USPS cannot have it both ways when gas was $4.00 plus a gallon and union wanted to open it up for rural carriers relief, USPS said a contract is a contract. 5 day delivery will not happen but HR 22 will pass very soon! Potter will NOT get all he wants.

Here is where I have to disagree, the PO can have it both ways and they always have and they always will.
I remember the first thing I was taught "It is up to management" that was true back then, has held true so far and I believe it will always be that way.

We have 4 regular rural routes and 1 aux. All the regular routes were K routes before count, now only one is. I was hoping to find more info on here as our OIC is new and it was very vague. They also just cut our retail hours from 8 am - 5 pm to 10 am to 3 pm. They are killing us on all levels. The extreme waste I see within the postal service is disgusting. They tell us they are on the brink of going under then spend money so foolishly. For example, paying for new name tags when we don't need them and all the other many little things I see.

MI MAIL , your right , the PO is gonna manage itself OUT of bussiness. Its got to be the dumbest organization on the planet. I believe it is about beyond repair and about to late to ever make any sense. I was hired 25 years ago because I scored high on a test. Ever since that day , they have told me how stupid I am everyday!!!!

MI MAIL,
Ask your OIC if he is referring to the section in our contract about the PO counting all rural routes in September. As far as I know they haven't notified the union they are doing this yet.It doesn't mention counting some routes there. It says all routes.See post 37472.

I spoke (emailed) my former Customer Service Mgr yesterday and he knows of no complete count this Sept. If there were any it would be for those who might request one. With the decline in volume I doubt any would actually request one possibly losing more income.

A carrier can NOT REQUEST a September count. It is not an optional count. It is TOTALLY up to the USPS to make the call and the only requirement it to notify the union at least 30 days out. It would then be for ALL routes. Supervvisors, PM's and 204-B's can NOT make the call, it is TOTALLY up to USPS headquarters.

Some of you people should take a few minutes and actually open your contract, read it and comprehend it.

I have one more day of my DPS review, and it looks as if its going to beabout the same percentage since mail count. Last 2 days have hurt with most everything that can be worked in DPS, being worked. I have decided that in the last 2 DPS reviews and last count they have manipulated the numbers so bad, that I have no choice but to file a grievance with contract violations being the main item. I am tired of the game and have decided that with APWU filing 50 grievances in the past 6 months, I should join in on the fun. I only have 1yr. 10 months and 24 days so I should continue leading from the front and fight the good fight!!

I would file a grievance on any and every possible thing. They cost the PO money and time. Make life as miserable for your supervisor/PM as possible. All bets should be off at this point with rural carriers....go for it!! The clerks and city carriers file grievances like there is no tomorrow, we should do the same.

Sad thing is, MOST will just take the screwing and do nothing.

I commend you!!

/m37481--you're right bob1, none of the rural carriers will talk to me since when I filled out the paperwork for a DPS review, I made 4 more copies and gave that to each one of them. None were turned in, called them a bunch of lemmings, waiting for the po to turn them over and rub there bellies and it will all be good. today, had 5 tubs of flats, 1/4' of automated flats and 3 trays of DPS, heard they had a number of sick calls in Topeka and they decided to push through letter and let clerks in offices take care bundled flats--think we could get by with that--they would come looking for us--OR--they are FEHRS and just don't care!!

last week I road the rt. with a reg.carrier and he never took a parcel to the door. just set them next to the mail box, never even put them in a plastic bag..I know for a fact that he gets done way under the evaluated time. What shoul I do . It's not right that he doesn't do the job he's being paid for and the next guy works his ass off to do the job the correct way. It's really not right. I told another reg. carrier, she said this has been going on for a long time, hopefully he'll get caught....

Know anyone on this route?? Ask them to call in or come in and complain about this. It is NOT right and the carrier is being lazy. This does nothing but make us look bad, add to under-time and them make you look bad when you do the job properly.

Do your job the way you are supposed to, and if by chance you find a parcel still there (that the regular left) then return it to PO and give it to stupidvisor or PM and tell them where you found it and you weren't sure if they were returning it or what. That way your butt is covered.

thanks Rayt and Bob.........I'm not a tattle tail, but damn it, my reg. carrier told me to always take stuff to the door and to bag it.So I do know how to do the job...it just pisses me off see it done the wrong way...My reg. carrier said there has been many complaints but never has he been really warned or written up.....oh, well...screw it...by the way I see where we now have to pick up returns for Fed-x

new sub......many ways to handle this lazy ass regular, but whatever happens, the almight NRLCA will come and save his position........they are especially good at that......

Have a carrier in my office that is reported to do that.......I've never seen it, and I drive by many of his deliveries. Some are long fire lanes down to the lake, so maybe he has permission to leave them there........

The onlt time I have ever done that is when the customer in in the yard, or mowing the grass, etc......and I know it will be taken care of ASAP........
