Hello everyone, havne't been on here for a while so thought I would check on everyone. Rita so sorry about the shingles,I had them in my B**t crack a couple of years ago and it made my hip hurt. I am glad you didn't hurt with yours. They are rally painful.I still have problems with my hip. My dermatoligist(know it isn't spelled right) gave me meds for it because she was doing the surgery and had to have them cleared up for that.
I hope everyone is well and Leasa you need to take a rest!! YOu make me tired hearing all the stuff you are doing but some times we gotta do what we gotta do....LOL

I want to ask all to pray for my MOm she has surgery the 15th,she has a growth on her neck, they took a biopsy and it shows it is nothing but it is growing and affecting her throat and she is losing weight and she was tiny to start with. Pray she does well as we all know when we are put to sleep we never know. My daughter is coming up to be with us too...My Mom is 80 yrs young!!

Good morning to everyone. Looks like most of us have checked in over the past week. Those who haven't been on here have sent me emails so I believe we're all present and accounted for, thank goodness.

Prayers for your mom, Brenda. My mom should be going back home next Sunday for the first time since her surgery. Prayers for everyone else who needs them. So glad Shirley and Rita are on the mend. Please join me in continued thoughts and prayers of support for Carson and Judy, please. He is gravely ill.

Today's issue has been posted. In it some of us from the GSEE share recipes we prepared (or wanted to!). My thanks to all who participated.

The deadline for the Bling! has been extended to November 1st. Hopefully we'll get enough folks who want to share the expenses of a fabulous house (it is wonderful... 7 suites with 8 bedrooms, lots of amenities, gourmet-friendly kitchen, etc.) The house is an absolute steal. I am still in shock... but we need to reserve it before someone else does.

I hope everyone has the weather they want and a peaceful Sunday. I am fortunate to be off and will be leaving soon for church. Busy week next week with only 1 day off (and I do to the dentist on that day, uh!) for me.

Hugs to all,
Maggie in Texas

Good morning, all!! It is another dreary Northern New York fall day..lrainy and cloudy, but a world that only God created for us!! We are thankful that we can enjoy it year round!!
Rita - I am glad that you are not suffering too much. There is medication the doctor can give you for shingles, but it is VERY expensive.
Shirley and Buck - A happy belated anniversry from me, too! My sister and her husband are somewhere around their 55th, I think. They had a big bash in Pa, for their 50th. Even Finn went to it!!
Maggie - Sorry about the dental work. If it saves your teeth, endure it!! You will never get anther set as good as the originals.I haven't yet had time to read today's issue.
Brenda - Prayers for your Mom!! You are right...general anesthesia is dangerous, no matter what age!! Most doctor's want to keep their stats up and won't operate unless they know the patient will survive the surgery!!

My cold is trying for a second comeback! I am going to spend my day nursing a cup of Lucy's (our Honey lady)chai tea and vegetating. Perhaps, I will make a pot of Taco Soup, for supper! Other than that, I am going to snuggle under a blanket, with a good book, today! I wanted to make some Mushroom Risotto, today, but I don't have the where-with-all to go to Lake Placid for mushrooms. It won't be good unless I can get some Baby Bella's for their flavor.
If you folks havent tried Lucy's chai tea, I highly recommend it!! Have a good week, all!!

Hello Rita, just wanted to send a quick message about your Shingles. Several years ago my son had them & the dr put him on antibiotics & tylenol. He was still very uncomfortable, & a nurse we knew said to have him take Vitamin E capsules orally according to directions, also get Vit E oil (or break a capsule each time)& apply it to the skin. We got the separate bottle of oil in addition to the capsules as it was easier for us that way. Applied to the skin was immediate relief, and taking it orally made the healing go faster. My dad got shingles a few yrs later & we did the same thing. It really helps! Good luck!

Thank You all for the kind wishes. We are planning our 55 anniversary for our friends but don't know what yet what we will do. Rain and windy out and fall is on the pumpkins. Garden is done for the year. Lots of tomatoes left on vines. Need to bring in Shirley's cactuses for the winter. Loss a few this summer. Her Epaphillians Mispelled acourse bloom
there hearts out with t-cup blooms in red, fushia, yellow and orange. Need to repot them for her. She sleeps a lot with her meds but it is nice to still have her here. Buck.

Ihave not posted or participated for quite some time.
Shirley & Buck, belated anniversary wishes to you fine folks.
We still must set a date for the perogie making and eating day.
I was in the hospital 5 times in the past 2 months with very sore legs and also an itch that was hard to control. They wrapped each leg with a special zinc bandage and left it on for 1 week, then removed and re-wrapped for another week and so on 5 times. There has been some improvement but the itch still returns.
While visiting the Emergency Ward, there was a sign posted that stated:
TO ALL PATIENTS
IF YOU ARE GROUCHY,IRRITABLE or
JUST PLAIN MEAN -
THERE WILL BE A $100 CHARGE
FOR PUTTING UP WITH YOU.

I thought this was very appropriate, a good sense of humor.
Wishing everyone gets over their ills, soreness, and get ready to join DANCING OF THE STARS.
Hugs to all,
Uncle Bill

Uncle Bill - I am sorry to hear of your troubles...I guess it comes from having to spend most of your life in a standing position, but think of the pople who would have suffered from malnutrition, if you hadn't been there!!
Happy Tuesday to everyone else!!

Good Wet Wednesday Morning, rain every day for the past week.Reading the stories of shingles, and talking with my neighbor who currently has them, I wonder if anyone on here has had a shingles vaccination? I'm suppose to get one when I get back from Mesa.

My gals and I are leaving for Nebraska and Arizona in the morning and will be without computer access for an entire week. Talk about withdrawal. Stay well wishes and prayers for all.

Uncle Bill, hope your leg problems heal soon.

From Pat, Merritt Island, FL: Hello to all. Wish ya'll would quit getting sick and get better real soon. Seems like between worrying and praying, I don't get much done, Of course going to the rehab hospital everyday to see how Joel is doing, take him clothes, etc., doesn't leave much time either. He is coming home today, hurrah!
Before I have to hustle out of here, I want to tell Patricia in Charlevoix, that I did have the shingles shot last year with no ill effects. After seeing what my mother went through with shingles, I wanted no part of them and quickly signed up for the shot.
Is anyone out there a member of the Elks. I'm thinking of joining and would like some thoughts. Also I am a member of the Women of the Moose and wouldn't mind meeting and chatting with you also. Hang in and hang tough. Best wishes, Pat

Checking in to see what is going on in everyone else's world. I am still feeling miserable. Yesterday was the first day I felt sort of like my old self but then today I am hurting and itching again. It has been 2 weeks now since these shingles started so hopefully after this nice long holiday weekend I will feel better. We leave next Friday for a week in Ft Lauderdale for grandma's birthday so I have to feel like that long car ride! I can't believe how tired I have been - it is like I have sleeping sickness - all I want to do is sleep, sleep and sleep some more. Guess that is my body telling me something, huh? Anyway, I am alive and believe me my next doctor's appointment I am going to talk to him about the shingles shot!

I talked to Nancy today. Her son and grandaughter are here but her daughter-in-law didn't come so Nancy is full time baby sitter while her son attends all his class reunion activities. She is enjoying Kaylyn but is going to be really whipped out by the time they leave!

Hope everyone is feeling better - especially you Uncle Bill! Just hope none of us comes down with the flu. Pat, I guess I must have missed something about Joel in my fog the last couple of weeks. I hope he is recovering and coming home soon. Prayers are with all of you!

I hope everyone is doing well. God love ya, Rita! Poor thing. I pray you get better soon. To everyone else who is under the weather, you are in my thoughts and prayers, too.

The past week has been a bear. I may not get the issue out until late Sunday or Monday. I ask that you please understand.

Thanks,
Maggie

Ditto for me and the fog, as well. Prayers for Joel! I missed the details on why he is in the hsp but not matter, as long as he is on the mend!!
I am going to make that Nurse appointment, tomorrow for my shingles shot! I certainly don't want them.
As far as the H1N1 shot....I am trying to refuse it. It is mandated for all health care workers in NYS. I get the seasonal flu shot, religiously, but I don't trust the other one.
Heading out to a quilt show,l with The Mighty Finn. Get well everyone!!
Maggie, I won't miss the issue if it doesn't come out for a day or two. I think EVERYONE else can be patient, as well!!

If your Sunday issue was too long to be seen through your email provider, please use the link at the very beginning of the issue to read it online (from the a2z web site). The link is also at the top of the QT web page.

Hope this reaches you. Using a borrowed computer. Didn't have time to send it before going to class this morning.
