We are back from Tenn. and the house is so quiet!!! We really enjoyed our granddaughter, she is 16 and will be a Senior this fall. We spent alot of time at the camp and she and Papa did alot of fishing and shooting and target practice. Stan did the Bass one nite for supper they caught and so good. They lived with us for 2 1/2 years while her parents were divorced and then they remarried, so Bren still has friends here. Ginger went home with her for a week and will fly back on the 8th. We stopped in Clanton, Al. and got peaches. Only got 7 baskets!! They are so good. Need to go grocery shopping today. We had a lot of rain and lightening yesterday! We really needed the rain. Treva hope you got moved okay. Linda glad you are going home today. Leasa take good care of your husband. Prayers for everyone and a Hug!

Oh wow Linda is coming hoe. Such good news and I bet she is one happy camper. I know we all are ! LaLa, an injured husband is a pain you know where. Just grin and bear it and be thankful itwasn't worse. As Maggie theme says, "a way to a mans heart" so cook him whatever he likes best and maybe he wil not be so grouchy. Jean got an update on her puter and it is causing havoc. She can't get on line and even the "techs" don't seem to know how to handle the problem. She is one upset lady. We have had some rain, but it goes around us more than it "falls" on us. Lots of thunder and lightning tho. Sure hope Treva gets moved ok and enjoys her new home. I don't think I could handle all that moving. Thats to much work for this age. Hey Shirley, stay cool up there. Humidity here is at about 98 %. Have all my ceiling fans going to help out the A.C. I think Pat over in Brevard county is getting all the rain in Florida.Least that is what the news says. On another newsletter the ladies have been having this discussion about Duke's Mayo. Now I have lived here 21 years and never bought it thinking it was a "cheap" brand, but I must say, I was very wrong. If yo can find it in your area, give it a try, you will be so glad you did. I was eating it on crackers and the taste took me right back to childhood. Now I am going to make some potato salad with it to enjoy. I am not sure what I wil do with the 2 quarts of Hellmans I have. Pass them off on someone else? Some of you southern gals should have told us "northerns" about this product a long time ago !!! Stay well and let God smile on you today my friends

Well we are thawed out and baking. As I set here in my undies with a wet towel wraped around me wishing it was not over ninety and was a wee bit cooler. Went to town to get groceries and on way home we go stopped by a bad accident. A new car and vacation trailer. Gosh what a mess. We set for 1 3/4 hours around noon and I got sicker than a dog eating something it shouldn't of. Bring shorts and sandles if you got um gang. No one will say a darn thing and if they do I personally will take care of it. If not Bill will. I always have trouble with heat and cold. August can be nice or it can be hotter than the devil would like it. Humidity we do not have but our weather comes off the ocean. I bought me some potato salad for dinner and we have always an abundance of left over it seems. Buck has not learned to make small portions and who gets fatter, ME.....I never have 2nds and try to keep control on what I comsume but it does not help. I think I could gain on wind and water. Well Buck is snoosing and I think I will go wring out this towel again and read my book. Hugs

Poor Leasa! I feel for you! Having hubby for a patient IS NO FUN I know. It is worse than having a kid sick I think. Hang in there girlfreind! Just keep remembering that he could have been hurt much worse. Don't envy you with all the yard work and all that rain! I just wonder when it is all going to stop!
We too are having some rain showers today but we really need the moisture. Went to church and out to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch. Read the paper and just enjoying the day. Nancy came by this morning and brought me 2 boxes of peaches from Durbin's in Alabama. She picked them up on her way home from taking Bren to Tennessee to meet her mom. One of the men who plays poker with Tom has been sending me tomatoes from a farm in the north part of the county so I took him a bag of peaches to thank him.
Great news to hear that Linda is coming home! It will so good to have her back with us, won't it?
Great issue Maggie! As usual dear heart - you do such a bang up job and we really do love and appreciate you!

Whew! Made it thru another day! Got the "back 40" mowed, then another storm rumbled thru. Branches down and another inch of rain. Will we ever dry out???????
On to other business...well well, I now run the Share program for the next 3 months. Had a quick and easy delivery day yesterday, we didn't have alot of orders, so I learned the "ropes". Then one of the regular guys who picks up and delivers to the "group home for mentally challenged" just up and quit as he was leaving. What a chit! So now have to recruit for another. If we don't have at least 40 orders each month, our site will be cancelled. We had 37 this time. It's really too bad because it IS a great deal, especially in this economy. Oh well...
Jer has NOT been behaving well. I keep after him to keep that foot UP, and he keeps digressing..grrr! I've even tried bribes..heh heh..to no avail. What to do?? I'm open to any and all suggestions!! HELP!!
My wonderful neighbor lady has a houseful of company, so I shared the grape salad recipe with her. Also I offered to make Uncle Bill's stuffed pickles for the family reunion next weekend. I might just make a few more little tidbits just for fun and to keep my mind off things. Yeah, I cook when I'm stressed. I made a banana cream pie for Jer yesterday, new recipe. You want me to post it here or just send to Mags???
I'm very frustrated with my puter again..more grrr! Did an automatic update thingy, now I can't print out recipes from A2Z or my yahoo groups. I don't know where they go, but I'm tired of this. Seems everytime it updates, something goes screwy....anybody got any ideas?? Otherwise I'm calling my puter guru, which I don't really want to do since funds are going to be limited for a while.
Enuf whining for now...grin grin!! I'm so tickled that NJW is coming home! Boy is she gonna have a LOT to catch up on, huh? Maybe I should send her a few more quarters just for fun...lol.
Everyone have a great day and I'll be "whining" soon.
love and hugs NOT hobblin in Holstein anymore!!

Happy Friday! What a wild ride yesterday! At 6 a.m., the tornado sirens went off! It got really black outside, had to turn on the lights, got Jer out of bed and to the basement (no small feat), watched the skies, no signs of tornado, then the sirens went off again. That's when I headed to the basement too! We stayed there about 1/2 hour after the "all clear" sounded. Get Jer back upstairs..puff puff..get him settled, the phone rings, we have to be in Sioux City in an hour! Well, cripe, it takes us just that long to drive there, let alone get Jer dressed and into the car! So off we toodle to get his cat scan. Had to fill out paperwork, get the scan done, then wait for the films, which took an hour! Then off to grab a quick sammie at Burger King, then off to the doc's office, which is in South Dakota! Very nice office and REALLY HUGE! The appt was for 1:30. So at 2:15, a very nice nurse came to tell us the Doc was still in surgery and it would be another hour. Sheesh! Sit, sit, wait, (me sneaking out for a cig) Finally, at 3:30, we see the doc, surgery!! He broke the big bone on top of his foot, it kinda shattered in one place, and several other small bones are broke. But no surgery until the swelling goes down, which it was going down before he had to upright ALL day yesterday...grrr! They put a cast on him, now surgery is scheduled for next Weds, July 2, ONLY if the swelling is down enough. No moving off the couch unless he has to potty. He's already being crabby. He just hates to be confined. I think I'll take my neighbor lady's offer to come and sit with Jer so I can get outta here, at least for an hour or two!
Now I have to tackle mowing the backyard. Since it rained buckets yesterday, it looks like it grew 2 feet...not really but it's gonna be slow going.. Then a quick trip to the phcy to get Jer's meds, then I'll take whatever else comes.
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers! They are appreciated more than you know! (sniff)
love and hugs

I bet you learn how to hook up that camper by yourself Leasa! I hate to hear about Jer but thank the good Lord you both didn't get hurt worse! I know what a deer can do to a car. I think Jer must have done a mighty good job of getting you out of harms way! Keep us posted on how he is coming along and you take care too!
Great having you check in Lynn! Sounds like you are so happy and that makes my heart feel good!
Maggie, enjoy those grandkids! What fun -- I doubt if I will ever know what is like to be grandma!
Not much going on here. I came home from work after going to a work related lunch. Decided just to take the afternoon off and enjoy. Didn't do a darn thing but read the paper, do the sudoku and jumble and watch TV! Need to go figure out what to wear tomorrow for "casual" day. Probably need to iron something.
Later - God Bless All!

Leasa - Poor Jer! His whole summer is shot! Well, maybe not, if you can hook up the camper by yourself. It will make life harder on you, but now you can go camping anytime you want!! Of course, there is the small problem of pain that Jer will be dealing with, but tell him he is tougher that that, when he starts whining!! Hey, Lynn!! Sounds like you are having a great time, up there. Be careful of the bears!! I need to get into bed, or I would chat more.

It's about TIME, Lynn?? Darlin' Leasa.. I've been in here a few times in recent weeks, talked to you even; where have YOU been, huh?? *giggle* No, I know I've been bad.. and my only excuse is that I'm not accustomed to being so busy, busy. "I" used to be my main priority.. now "we" are and that requires change both physically and in mind-set; at my age now, the transition is a slower process.. just like mowing the lawn is, which I got done AND raked yesterday. Major achievement! *tee hee hee*
Am so very sorry to hear about Jer, honey. My BIL, Bob, suffered a very similar break to his ankle several years ago; his wasn't set properly and he still suffers with it terribly some days.. especially in the cold. Big hugs to you both, and prayers that he's all fixed good as new very soon!!
Lar called last night and is heading home tomorrow (Fri.) rather than Saturday so I've got to get me arse in gear to try to accomplish all I wanted to get done while he's away. It's getting really hot and humid here but I simply can't stand the central air-conditioning with all the windows closed up.. sooooo, need to hustle and get as much done as possible while there's a cool breeze coming in. Hope everyone has a great Thursday!
Love you'se.. Lynn.. xox

Well it's about TIME Lynn..ya poop! Sounds like your settling in nicely, just in time to move again....giggles And I wrote down that thingy about the hose and copper. Sounds neat.
Now on to the "other" stuff. Update. Back from the ortho specialist. Jer has a dislocated ankle and several broken bones. We go to Sioux City tomorrow morn for a cat scan, then consult with the surgeon. Because of the swelling, not sure if surgery will be immediate or wait until it goes down. Surgery is definite, along with pins and screws. Now ain't that gonna be fun going thru airport security?? lol So his whole summer is shot, cast, crutches. Dam deer! So that's what I know for now. I'm not sure what will happen tomorrow, so I'll just say I'll post when I can.
love and hugs!

G'mornin' from beautiful, sunny Manitoba, y'all..
My humblest apologies for not getting in here sooner to see what antics our La-La's been up to most recently; thanks be to God that you and Jer are safe and sound, sweetie (wellllll, safe anyway.. tee hee hee)!! I want to try to get out there with the mower today too, Lease; only problem: Lar was supposed to show me how it starts b4 he left 'cuz it's got a little glitch, apparently, but I'll give it a try and maybe a helpful neighbour will come help me if I have a problem.
Lar's gone on his camping/fishing trip to the northern reaches of this beautiful province with his buddies.. and this "significant other" is busy, busy painting kitchen cupboards and other little odd painting jobs, plus keeping the deer away from the flowers and tomatoes in the gardens. The "little darlins" love to just take one chomp out of the tomatoes and spit 'em out. Lar picked up a good sling-shot so I don't have to go after them with my stick anymore.. not sure which is funnier 'cuz I'm not a very good shot! LOL Our neighbours that have alot of bird feeders out are being raided by a big cinnamon-coloured black bear at night so now they have to take their feeders in once the birdies have all gone to bed. We only have one goldfinch feeder and one hummingbird feeder, so he's leaving us alone.. thank heavens! Apparently, it's quite a sight to see the bears lounging in the oak trees along the streets, once they start producing acorns.. they get up there, feast, and then just curl up in the crook of the boughs to sleep. Cute.. but don't get too close!
Dear Maggie.. thank you SO much for the recipe again, and for giving me those links. I will get off my butt and send you those two TNT recipes this week, honey.. promise! Am sending you only TNT ones and then maybe other folks will try them too (and perhaps even improve on 'em! :~))).. never heard of anyone else trying my "wanna try" recipes before so I gave up sending them. Enjoy your grands, dear lady.. we'll be picking Alex up in Montreal mid-July (when we go to do a house search) to fly back with him so he can spend a couple of weeks with us and learn to fish with his "Grampa". He's never flown before, so we'll do the first leg with him.. then, he can either go back by himself with flight protection, or stay with us 'til Aug. 6th when we'll be flying back to Ontario again. Don't know who's more excited.. him or us! ;~))
Preshus Cheesy.. can't begin to tell you how glad I am to hear you feeling perkier and stronger, sweetie!! We've made really good friends in our neighbours directly across the back (so much so, they installed a gate in their fence between our properties.. lol) and, if it's not raining, one of us builds a fire in the evenings to sit around and yak (btw, folks, night doesn't fall here until 10:30 or so.. difficult to go to bed early). What I was getting at is.. I find myself thinking of you so often as I watch those fires. Dennis, the neighbour hubby, heard about putting cut-up old garden hose inside copper tubing and throwing it in the fire.. you would not believe the beautiful colours that evolve in the flames; incredible!! I can just see you grin and get a charge out of it, too, when we're watching that.. :~)) Ohhhhh, and La-La-luv, if you and Jer want to try that.. it should be 3/4" copper tubing, and the hose needs to be the kind with the white stringy fiber pattern running thru' it; got that? ;~))
Has anyone heard from our NJW Linda recently?? Please be well and home soon, honey!!!
OK.. think it might be a good idea to hop in the shower and get dressed, especially before going out to mow; good idea? LOL God bless you all and keep you safe and well..
Big hugs, Lynn.. xox
