A huge thanks to Ann in Fl. I have been listening to music from the 50s for the past hour and really enjoying it! The TropicalGlen website is awesome. I'm passing it on to everyone I know!

If you are feeling blue put on some upbeat Doo Wop!

Well it's a half hour later and I have read the rest of the newsletter. Can't wait to try several new recipes especially Jim's Mango And Jicama Salsa. I am still enjoying the music!

Off to Ft Myers, Fl tomorrow for a consulting gig. The hotel had a wonderful Coconut crusted grouper last time and I am looking forward to enjoying that again. Maybe I can get the chef to part with the recipe. LOL

Right now I'm going out on the patio to enjoy the garden and a cup of java.

Morning all, Its a lovely day here in the foothills of North Carolina. The sun is shining; but, its cool. Another of those crazy cold fronts moved through and I think summer is lost. Of course it isn't summertime yet, is it?
I am so tired of being old; I ache in every joint in my body. Every time the weather changes I get a new ache. Its bad when you have to sit down to cook or to do the dishes.
As you can tell I go up on the grumpy side of the bed this morning. After I check my e-mail maybe I will feel better.
I have voted; have you. Looks as if we are losing ground again.
You all have a nice day. May the Good Lord bless and keep you and yours,

Good morning. I am present and accounted for. On my way out the door soon for work, though.

The issue has been posted:

Internet is crazy the past few days. This morning I had to re-boot and it is still acting up. Hope this makes it.

Prayers for all who need them (that would be all of us, right?) and hugs for all.

Maggie

I am here too!

Had a neighborhood garage sale here today...great weather if you like 90 degree weather...we started at 6:30 am and gave it up at 11:30 am due to the heat...but it was fun for awhile.

Between the heat of the day and all the fun, I am one pooped puppy tonight.

My love, hugs and prayers to all.

Where is everyone????? What has happened to all of us? Not the numerous postings of the old days! I for one have missed everyone!

Just finished dinner. Spent the morning looking through my OLD recipe file. Found recipes I had forgotten about. My fresh herbs are going crazy so needed to use some of them so found a recipe for grilled chicken with a fresh basil lemon butter that was really good. Also found a baked potato recipe using herbs. Both recipes were pretty good so guess I will type them and send them off to Maggie. Not much else going on.

Good morning friends; or, is it? I hve been making myself sleep; or, at least to stay in bed until 9 a.m. Thought maybe I could get some rest. Problem is, if you don't have a restful sleep, you don't rest. With so many deaths in the family recently, my dreams have gone completely crazy. I have been dreaming of my husband (he keeps calling me to come to him) and my parents. I try not to dwell on all my loved ones that have gone on; and, I still wonder why I am still here. So, I am going back to my recipes and e-mail pals and try to get myself back to normal -- what ever that is.
I spent one day baking cookies for a bake sale this weekend - a benefit to help with funereal expenses for Jimmy. He had no insurance and Linda is really hard up. Beth and Ray are working there today.
Let's see I got my hair cut last week -- really short; I can't stand hair blowing in my eyes.
We have been under tornado watch the past 2 weekends and have had some bad wind storms. But, it has been pretty so far today.
Better stop my rambling - Hope all have a good day. May the Good Lord bless and keep you and yours,
Treva

I am here physically -- still spread pretty mentally. I am trying to get myself cheered up and back on some sort of schedule. I expect this onery computer to go completely out one of these days. I know the thing has a mind of its own. First I couldn't use the CD-Rom -- then I couldn't get on IE but could use the cd rom -- now I have lost, or seem to have lost my Java and I can't get it to down load.
Why or why am I so addicted to this machine? LOL
Take care now; God bless,
Treva

Bang! Bang!! Rattle! Rattle! Bang! Where is every one???? I guess I have been AWOL too much!!
Wow! My name didn't pop up in the yellow box! I have just changed my virus protection....dumping Norton's and going with Verizon Security Suite.
It has been a pip getting rid of Norton's!!
I have just planted a dozen tomatoes, watered them well and put a row cover over them. I am trying to beat the weather in this frigid part of the country. It isn't "safe" to plant here until after the 5th of June or something like that.... The row covers worked will last fall to keep my tomatoes from freezing so I am hoping they will give them what they need for a good start this spring. I may get some Miracle Gro for the hose to water them with!!
The black flies are still out, even though I felt like I needed a jacket to work outside. That is some kinda cool!!
Treva - How is everything with you?? I think you need to answer roll call!
Shirley - It is pretty quiet over there on the West Coast!!
I have to hit the shower. It is going to take a few minutes to wash the bugs out of my hair, before I go to work.
Have a good weekend, all!

Well hi and hello! Thought I was gonna get caught up today, but was a lazy butt most of the morn, kinda sore and stiff. I'll try to catch ya'all up, short version..lol Went to Mom's in Missouri on Thurs morn. They were trying to buy a piece of land across the alley from them. The owner wouldn't sell to them, so I stepped in and "sweet talked" the old gal, got a contract signed, in MY name, and started the clean up process. After the mega ice storm, alot of BIG branches were down all over the yard, so we picked, hauled, pulled, stacked, raked, mowed, etc. Got the empty propane tank off the property, cut down 3 trees, and made calls to have someone haul off the icky trailer house that's there. Whew!

Took Mom out for lunch on Mother's Day, hit the big Wally World, went to see 2 campgrounds they have been to, came back to their house, had cocktails and leftovers for supper (wink, grin) I also made some fresh steamed asparagus, wrapped in prosciutto, drizzled with EVOO, then grilled. Oh yum! I had intended on leaving Sun, but stayed until Tues, when I hit the road again. Gas was $3.56 when I filled on Tues. Fortunately, there was a tail wind and helped blow me home. Unloaded vehicle, had a quickie sammie, hot tubbed, then off to bed. Up this morn at the usual time, 6 a.m., and attempted to go thru my 2000 emails. Heck! Then Jer has decided we're going camping, so I've been scrambling around making menus and stocking the camper. That part is done. I planted my 3 tomato plants I picked up, along with my rosemary, basil and chives. I also planted a row of green beans. Now if I knew where to put the 2 rose bushes Mom gave me, they'd be planted too! lol!

So now we've been fed, and I'm pooped again. We leave tomorrow for camping, so I won't be back again...ahhh, the joys of summer. We've also decided that we're going to Mom's for Memorial weekend instead of the biker rally. It will be my 50th and Mom wants to have a bbq, so I think I'll humor her..lol The property has a nice cement slab, so we'll take the camper and set up there.

That's what's been going on in my neck of the woods.

Prayers for Bama and your family, as well as Doe! Thanks Cheesy and Doe for the bread machine recipes! I did stop at the bread outlet in Clarinda and got 2 loaves of bread for $1 each! Woo hoo!

Oh yeah! The property in Missouri, my neighbor has a wild turkey in a pen! He gobbled the whole time! And strut, strut, strut! Wish he could pick the lock and escape...heh heh heh...

Off for a quickie shower, then jammie and boob tube time. Take care all and I'll be in touch when I can.

love and hugs

Hi everyone!! I survived Mother's Day weekend, with my daughter. We went out to eat at Outback on Saturday evening, early, to miss the dinner crowds, and then had breakfast and dinner at home on Sunday. We went to the Tulip Festival, in Albany, which was nice. I came home on Monday, at 6:30 in the evening and was called into work at 8 p.m.! I have been playing "catch-up" on my sleep, ever since. I got up today to make some phone calls, so I am up for the day, now.
That is okay. I need to keep pushing the laundry through and I have some tomatoes and cucumber plants that I brought home with me, that I want to plant, under row covers. That won't get done, unless I start working on it.
Leasa - This is my favorite bread machine recipe. This recipe came from a friend years ago is TNT. I have even come up with a whole wheat version! I always warm the buttermilk in the microwave, so it gets a better start!

Phyllis' Buttermilk Bread

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons buttermilk
3 tbl oil
3 tbl honey
3 1/4 cups flour 1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking yeast

Put ingredients in machine in order listed. Follow manufacturer's instructions to bake.

I sometime will substitute 1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour for the white flour and 1/4 cup raw wheat germ, using only 1 1/2 cups white flour for my whole wheat verision.
Enjoy!

Doe - I am sorry to hear you have been in the hospital. I hope you are on the straight and narrow, now.
Brendie/Bama - Prayers for your step-dad and mom. Getting old is the pits!!
Nancy and Rita - Watch out for them flying turkeys!!! They aren't the smartest birds in the world!! Where do you think the expression "What a turkey!" came from????
I have to shake my mop...more later, I hope.
