A great weekend! We went to the camp and had a great time, even with the rain on Saturday. Stan went fishing and caught a nice catfish and a small bass. We came home late Sat. nite and watched the Nascar race.
Sunday the choir sang at the late service and then we went out for lunch with Tom and Rita, great time. We just don't get enough time to visit!! Stan did some yard work and in doing so, he cut our neighbor's TV cable. We had to call Cox and they came out and fixed it.
Going to Illinois May 21st to see our kids and check on Stan's step-dad.Michele has a lot of jobs for her dad to help her do, this keeps Stan busy, can't sit and do nothing. We will home the 1st of June. This will probably be our only trip up until late Aug., with the price of gas!
Take care and prayers for everyone.

Hello and Happy Cinco De Mayo! I don't celebrate but it's a great excuse to have mexican food..heh heh. It's a lovely day here in Podunk, 71°, sunshine, south breeze..ahhh BUT, as per usual, tomorrow gets icky and chilly again with rain. No, we didn't camp this weekend, Fri was icky, Sat was too cold for Jer. Geez, he's becoming such a wimp..lol.

Where to start? I've discovered my bread machine! It was a gift from Jer about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I read the instruction book..got terrified (go ahead..laff) and put it in the cabinet. So I decided that almost $4 for a loaf was too much. Well..not sure it's any cheeper but sure tastes better. I'm on my 4th different recipe, with my friend Taz's instructions and Mom's recipes, I'm on a roll!

We've been back to the "pasture" to chop more wood and intend on going back today after Jer is off work. I've been stocking the camper (wishin the weather would cooperate here) and investigating new water heater options. Does any of you have one of those tankless deals? Just curious. Picked up some brochures from Home Depot and Lowes, now to catch my heat/plumbing guy! Also bought some rosemary and a beautiful roma tomato plant to get in my little garden.

We went to see a little dog up for "free" yesterday. He is a jack russell terrier mix. Cute lil guy and I thought he'd fit right in with our family. After trying to get Jer to say what he thought (for 4 hrs), he finally said he wasn't ready yet for another dog. He told me he didn't wanna make me mad by saying "no"...wahhh. I ain't mad. Sassy was his first dog and I guess he didn't have an "ahhh, he's so cute" moment. So I guess we're waiting for the "right" one.

I'm glad to hear that everyone is safe, sound, home, getting healthy, and all the happy stuff that's going on. Here's a tissue for those of us whose allergies are full swing! Yep, I even mowed the front yard last nite, and sniffled, etc for 2 hrs afterwards..

Better get off here. I have to make a few calls and hit the post office. Gotta get that Mother's Day card in the mail.

love and hugs

Happy Tues! Just to let ya'all know, (like it matters since no one's here) that I will be out of touch until probably Sunday. I'm heading down to Missouri to help Ma with a real estate deal they've been working on, do a little shopping, and stock up on cheep cigs. The gov of Iowa be darned! So I've got laundry going, errands already run, fueled up...guess I got lucky today, nly $3.45/gal! Next is battening down the hatches. We got severe storm watches out for the rest of the day until midnight. Joy, joy, high winds, large hail, possible tornadoes. I love spring! lol

Off to shut this thing down. Everyone have a great next couple of days.

love and hugs

Just talked to Linda. Says she feels great. She went out for the day yesterday, with Mr. Mike, and gets to go out again tomorrow! She sounded so wonderful.
Pam says thanks for all the thoughts and prayers; she still needs them.
Linda got quarters from Leasa and thought that was a stitch.
Thanks all,
Love, & hugs, too,
Pammie

Pat, loved your "if you are a Floridian"! Can relate to ALL of them!

Great news about our Linda. I put a card in the mail to her today to let her know I am thinking about her and missing her!

Decided to check in before I shut this down and hop in the shower before hitting the hay! Have a great time with your Mom Leasa. You should stay and spend Mother's day with her. Enjoy here while you can! I know I sure miss my Mom but Mother's Day is always harder. God Bless All!

Good morning everyone. The issue has been posted. It is from our pal Patricia in Michigan.
http://www.a2zrecipes.net/05072008.html

I worked all night but am so excited about going to Houston to see the Astros play that I can't sleep. Guess who else has been up all night and is too excited to sleep? Yeppers. Angela. We are going to have a ball. Oops! Was that a funny? Ha-ha

I'm off for a couple of days. I'm pretty happy about that, too. I was supposed to be off all weekend but some folks took time off so I'll be working 12's each day. I start a month of working days, which makes me a very happy camper.

On my desk I have a picture of Linda that Pammie had developed and sent to me recently. As I pray for her daily, I see her smiling face, which reminds me of times past and yet to come. I cannot wait for her to return home and join us again in the QT. There's no denying that she is a sister to all of us. Continue to pray for her and her family.

Well, let me see if I can talk Angela into taking a nap before we head up for lunch and the game. Go Astros!

Hugs,
Maggie in Texas

Happy birthday to a great gal called Maggie !! So very glad she is a friend.
Been busy doing things around the house and shopping.
Yesterday I went to a grand opening of a new Publix store in my area. That is a fun time and I loved the store.I'm a little jealous as it is closer to a son, so he calls it "his" store.
Weather has been very warm, but balmy. I've been in shorts for over a month now Jean.
Pat, I loved your "Florida" bit and I sure can relate to it.
Our vote count is growing if anyone has checked it lately. Good for Mags.
Got to go watch golf. Tiger might not be playing, but Phil Mickleson is and I love watching all his shots.Mot are way off course, but everynow and then he does a good job.
Later friends

Maggie, A very happy birthday to you! May God bless you on this special day and also for the next year and always! You a special friend and such a blessing to all of us. Love you FRIEND!

I am home from work early and more than ready to start the weekend. Again we had no air conditioning today while they repaired the unit again. It was still HOT when I left so hopefully it is fixed and everything cooled off by Monday morning. It is to warm now in sunny Florida for a closed in building not to be air conditioned!

Again I am asking --WHERE IS EVERYONE????????

Pammie's here. Been very busy getting ready for our son's birthday celebration tomorrow. He'll be 36!! Maggie, your birthday is as special as you are.
Please check out the following web-site. This has been dear to our family's heart for a while now.

http://www.active.com/donate/SmilesForSophie/DoubleE

The photo is of Sophie, who died last October. She was in Emma's class in pre-school and they attended Sunday School together. Emma, my granddaughter who is 4, is asking for your support in this endeavor to raise money to help support children who suffer from cancers, as did Sophie.
I hope you can join me in supporting this Smiles for Sophie activity.

PS. Smiles for Sophie is the name given to the fund-raisers my daughter's family spearheaded to help Sophie. They're continuing the name to honor Sophie's memory. And it says, Smiles for Smiles when it should read Smiles for Sophie.

Love and hugs to all,
Pammie

Happy Birthday Maggie. Hope the Astro game was good. I do not control the TV so never watch it. Buck loves shot um up Bang! Bang!s and I like Disney so He controls the switch and I play, read and work on cook books.
I know your time with Angela is special and that Trey is the apple of his moms eye and I know their mom is extra special to me. Gas is going up my the minute. They are now talking about $6.00 a gallon. Bread is over 4 bucks a loaf. Ouch! Our garden had to get in. I am going to have to can and dry food for winter the way its going. I might even raise chickens again. Eggs are up to 2.29 a dozen. When is this going to stop????? I wish they would put the price lid back on. Every one is getting rich but us. right? Hugs, Shirley and Buck.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello for my birthday. My birthday was perfect and started out by going to Houston to have lunch and see the Astros play on Wednesday. It was a great game, made even better by the win, and we had so much fun. On Friday, Linda in Rosharon and her sweet mom, Betty, took us to lunch at La Casona in Lake Jackson, followed by coffee and dessert at Betty’s home. What nice people Linda and Betty are; we enjoy them immensely. The lunch was very good and Betty gave me a handmade organizer pouch which fits perefectly inside my purse. The staff at the restaurant did a “surprise!” for my birthday and, boy howdy, surprised I was. When I got home, Trey had flowers for me, which he paid for himself (he is working part time at a grocery store a few blocks from home). I guess that means he’s growing up because usually he gets money from me for a gift, ha-ha. I did something for myself: I went to sleep early! Ta-da! Angela woke me when she came home and gave me a card and gifts. No problem as I was able to go back to sleep.

It’s not the gifts, cards, etc. that make the day. It is being surrounded by love and I was - at home and here with my a2z family.

Thank you,
Maggie
