Good news, my van is finally on the road again after an entire month! Hopefully since almost everything is new except for the shell (haha) it'll be a long time before it'll need any more repairs! I was able to work today and will be taking the grandkids to the local annual church fair tomorrow evening. obtw, anyone who gets sick from pain killers, I have in my medical file not to give me codeine or anything else in that category. Have to remind them from time to time, don't assume the file always gets read! I tolerate Darvocet really well if otc meds aren't strong enough. Hope this helps.

Maggie I just copied all your soup recipes and now the fun begins!!! I love having something made and not have to look for something every night.
Please pray for my daughter, Misti she has 3 swollen disk in her back and they say she has arthritis. She said"I am too young to have that" I said I have heard of kids 5 and 6 having it. Maybe she will finally get some relief.

Checking in to let you all know we are home safe and sound. We had a great "Family" week. Grandma is doing great! She is getting around a little slower and not quite as active but for 94 years old she is doing great! We are so thankful that the good lord has looked after her! Her mind is really sharp and that in itself is a true blessing! Pat, I waved at you and said "hi" as we buzzed by your exit on the interstate and I also reminisced when we passed the New Smyrna Beach exit. It is great to be home and sleeping in my own bed. I know it will be hard gettting up and going to work Monday. I am still covered in the rash from the shingles and itching like crazy and having pain. I do feel physically a whole lot better though. This is the 4th week so hopefully this week things will start getting back to normal. Believe me I am ready to stop itching!!

Pam and Jean sorry I missed your birthdays! My belated birthday wish for both of you is that God Bless you dear friends!

Rita, this is one of my better nights so will say hello to you and all of my other friends. When all you can do is complain it better to be silent. I had Physical Therapy today and hot packs so feel almost human tonight. I just wanted to say that around here I am the grandma, great grandma and then the great-great granny. I don't know if I feel like that old but I must be. I have had inquireries as to where and why I have not been here, so will say that nothing goes according to plans but you deal with it. I am doing my best. I do pretty good on one line sentences but I like to do more than just say hi, you all. I am trying to get back some spunk but it is hard. Pray for me. We had hail, BB size, wind, rain and sun today. It
was a fun sort a day as nothing lasted over 10 min. and the lighting last almost 5 min. this time 3 big booms. I loved it. So did Buck but our littlest pooch, Duffie, growled and barked at it when it flashed and boomed. He is a nut for that kind of stuff. Car lights flashing on the road at nights sets him off, every time. Buck is always telling him to be quiet and then another light goes by. LOL He is a little Yorky that looks like a mini scottie. Where he got his coloring is anyone guess because my daughter has both his mom and dad. She never has had 2 the same
coloring. Well time to hit the hay. Hope I feel this good tomarrow for myappointments. Hugs Shirley

I guess I am like Shirley. Haven't been on here for ages !
Maybe I had better start with a Happy Birthday to all I have missed.
I am still having some eye problems even after the second surgery. I am praying they will staighten out soon.
Last week we lost a sister-in-law, our brother's wife. She had breast cancer. She ived near Jean, so she attended in place of the rest of us.
Our weather has broken heat records for this month and a cool down would be nice. I am sure the others who live here will agree with me.
To Rita, I had shingles back in the 80's and still suffer some discomfort from them. Wearing a bra will get the nerve ends acting up and very painful. Hang in there, but don't expect miracles !!
Due to the humidity I have had lots of aches and pains lately and don't move to well.
Sure hope Treva is emjoying her litle vacation. Think she deserves it.
 Ok, can't focus well now.
Prayers to everyone.

Brenda - When I had my carotid surgery, last fall, even though I had a listed allergy to codeine, no one including me realized that Hydrocodone has codeine or a derivative in it....the nurse encouraged me to take the hydrocodone, even though I told her it made me hurl....and so it did!! They just don't want to see their patients in pain, or at least the good ones don't!!
I have escaped from the aliens and am back roaming on earth, again. Actually, I had five days off this week and was chained to my sewing machine, working on a quilt for my nephew.
Halloween was exdessively quiet here. I think we had 4 kids. Now I have a ton of candy to get rid of!! Mike is kindly helping with that problem!!
Now, I am heading back to bed. It is my one night off, this week, and although I just got up at 5 p.m., I am sleepy again.
Hope all are well!!

Hello Everyone, well trip to Seattle was easier on me today. I slept both
ways. Poor Buck had to put up with my snores and stuff. I was out of it.
We have been peddling apples off to every one encluding my doctor at the hospital. We still have a trailer full to give away. Apple pie, apple crunch, applesauce, applebutter, applets, raw apple cake, saute'
of apples, apple pancakes and dutch babies. We make a lot of waldorf salad with dates or raisins in it. I'm always on the lookout for ways to use apples. Tried apple wine once made from crabapples and wow! that was a good way to use up those little tiny apples. I have a lot of good recipes and lots of stinkers. I keep them too so I never make it like that again. I draw an X thru it with a hi-lighter pen. Oh I just read the A2Z for today and I am for one who likes to make new dishes out of left overs.
It doesn't take a brain to warm the same old stuff over again but is a challenge to change a recipe into something new. With just Buck and me, we
have a time coming up with new ideas for dinner. Well stay well dear friends and till I feel up to writing again, Hugs Shirley

Hello to everyone! Don't know where the week went - had a very busy week at work. Think I am finally caught up from my week's vacation. I am also happy to announce that I am finally feeling like my old self! I still have the rash but it is getting lighter in color everyday. Believe me it is great to feel good again! Tom and I went out to dinner early tonight. We splurged and went to Old Bay Steamer and had crab legs and shrimp. It was delicious! Have plans to do a lot around the house this weekend since I have let everything slide while I was under the weather. Prayers to all that need them and also to those at Ft Hood who are recovering and also those who lost loved ones!

Greetings to everyone, South and North of the 49th parallel;
Well, here we are in Canada, entertaining a couple of Royals, Charlie Boy & his betrothed, Duchess Camilla. This is costing Canadian Taxpayers only 1 million dollars per day and they are here for 12 days, WOWEE!!
They are in Vancouver, B.C. today and will spend 3 days here, not sure what for, although today, they will be inspecting the Athletes Village, the newly built 1.3 billion dollar housing complex. The Olympic Vanoc Group will be housing 12,000 athletes and their assistants in these luxurious units for about 3 - 4 weeks and the street people will still be sleeping in ally's and garbage bins, even in the bushes in Stanley Park.
So far, costs for the 2010 Winter Olympics are about 7 billion dollars and this is not the end yet. Security alone will be just under 1 million dollars and this now involves some of the secret security planes from the U.S. Airforce.

According to our government sources, our economy is improving, yet we are going further into debt and last month there were 23,000 more people layed off, just in the Vancouver area.
So, we must be improving in great strides to go down hill, aren't we lucky.

Gee, I did not want this marvelous information give you any heart burns, but just so you are aware of our Canadian achievments and what we have to look forward to.

Best Regards and keep your chins up and smile and be happy.

suppose Meridian was widened and they are working to get it finish or all the new hotels that are popping up down here. They use our money but we get no return for it. Gosh will it ever stop????

Well good morning everyone, from your lost long Doe in B.C. What a great issue Maggie. I've had computer problems lately, so I haven't been posting, just can't. I keep getting 401, this website blocked by administrator. Have any of you any advice? So it would appear I was one of the first dozen or so to get that dreaded H1N1, that was why I thought I had been sicker than I had ever been before. I'm still tiring easily, nose is still a bit chapped, but well mended otherwise. Yay, I can eat again!!!
So last week I baked up a storm. Thank you so much Carol for posting the Candy Bar Brownie recipe. I had hounded Mags to get that on the board. Now I know what I'm trying this week.
Pat I gather on the hush puppies that's 1- 4oz can corn not 14oz. Of course I'll have to convert to the dreaded metric, to shop. I just hate that. I'm a dinosaur who just can't get the hang of this metric, refuse to is what it comes down too.
So I got my voting done, now am off to go through my stacks of recipes for Mags, hear she's running low, can't have that. Hope this finds everyone as well as can be.
Hugs to all, Doe

Made a Orange Sunshine cake yesterday. Will try to get it sent to Maggie if she can use it.It is about 75 degrees here today and the sun is beautiful....
