Not clear what your question is. It could be two things:
1) Why was I getting it?
That's easy: it's my job. I don't have to be a Nexpert on Vista, but I can't not know about it.
2) Why was I gloating about getting it?
That ought to be clear from the story. It was a story about how the servers had creaked to a halt under the onslaught of downloaders.
Is it important? Well, I think so. A majority of the world's computer users will be using it within three years. Now is the time to see what it's going to be like, no?
