All the MJ coverage certainly does conflict with the previous refusal to cover Anna-Nicole and Heath because of their respective children.

@Hm, the MJ coverage has been sort of a ratings bonaza for CNN, but we all know it's not going to last and 360's future is fairly uncertain.

@Cesar, I think that an AC/NGC connection would be a good one - CNN gives him all kinds of resources and freedoms, but they haven't been put to very good use in the past several months - he needs a fresh start and a way to get back to the kind of reporting that most of us admired him for.

@yellow, so true.

@Coopedup-Where did you hear that? You think they'd get rid of AC contract and all?

they did it to Aaron, they did it to Myles so why should AC be any different. His 15 minutes of fame just timed out. He used to be good at what he does, but now he's no better than TMZ or any of the other tabloid shows. His true colors are showing - celebrities 24/7/365. So be prepared for AC36 to be gone and AC with it.

either anderson is in control of his show and content; and is therefore responsible for the tanking ratings

or

he's not in control of the show, is limited by his contract, and his only job is to do what he is told; and therefore not in control of the tanking ratings.

Its not both ways.

Kay Jones tweeted a picture of anderson checking his blackberry on the roof during the show.

he uses it to get directions from the producers and people in the satellite truck, no big deal. You guys are really pathetic hanging on every little piece of AC thrown at you by the producers, publicists. That's what's wrong with 360 - they're playing to the fans and not the people who really care about the news.

has always been a "behind the scenes" part of the show.

It's just that this is now bigger and better than the show itself lately.

Its sad about the show but not pathetic about the fans. The basis of TV is fans like or lump it, pretty faces are more watchable.
Myles and Aaron had fans and not just for the news.
He is not  23787

the managing editor of his show, like Lou Dobbs is or Katie Couric is.

So that means he is probably not in control, tho he probably has input. And if he has had lousy ratings lately, he may be a little more likely to go along with all the MJ coverage or anything else for better ratings.

@yellow: Huh? 360 covered Anna Nicole Smith ad nauseum.

@CoopedUp: Yeah, he's always said that CNN has the resources to allow him to do things other organizations can't, but what has he done lately? His Congo trip would fall under that category, but that was years ago.

@Duck: If anything, I think Anderson would be the one dumping CNN. It's not like he's the weak link over there. He's still a CNN star. The problem is the entire network is tanking.

@mutually exclusive: Anderson has stated many times that he has control of the show to do what he wants. If that's not true, he needs to stop lying to his viewers.

@So: What are you talking about? In case you haven't noticed, the majority of the fans are disgusted with this coverage. They're not playing to us, they're playing to the ratings.
If  23789

he has control of his show and does as he wants, then this non-stop coverage of Jackson he must be enjoying. He also must not want to travel any more, just to LA.

just got reupped on his contract so Anderson isn't going anywhere. This article here tells of how Klein and his boss Jeff Bewkes only keep Cooper around for one reason. That is so that they can get to hang with the stars. So even if he has bad ratings or not they'll keep him around for that reason alone.

@If: I really hope he's not enjoying the coverage. He of all people should be bothered by its exploitation. As for traveling, that's probably more complicated. I don't think it's ever been that he could just announce he wants to go somewhere and they let him go.

@Klein: I wouldn't put too much stock in that "reason." It's speculation coming from a single person who has an obvious agenda.

Another CNN/AC360 know it all I see. You have all the answers, and expect everyone to go along with them, but you don't respect the opinion of others.

@Duck, I found the info about AC's ratings through a Google link, but I can't seem to find it now which is weird.

The person who runs The Cable Game website has had a problem with Anderson for quite a long time - I used to occasionally email him about some of his claims about AC and he'd always be willing to listen, but his mind is pretty much made up about AC360.

I'm not sure if Anderson's enjoying the coverage, I'd imagine that he'd rather not spend the inordinate amount of time that they've devoted to it, but I think there might be some aspects of the subject that do interest him.

So I guess if Klein's contract is renewed AC will only go if HE wants to, because I'm not sure if Klein's interested in dropping him, bad ratings or not, but are there others above Klein who might make the call for AC to go? That's what I'm unclear about.
