Speaking of silliness, I wrote a nostalgic humorous piece about our MPS days and our fondness for "The Four Yorkshiremen" sketch.

Alyce, I believe that your brother, Andy, and Mark (Goro) did that sort of thing quite well with grumpy old men's voices. They got pretty silly real fast.

Well, that document was sort of humorous, but also kind of a sad commentary on our society today.

Dunno if anyone here is considering becoming a property owner, but the widow next door is selling off her half of the duplex (not sure of the correct term here) I live in.

If anyone's interested, I am a quiet neighbor and my friends/visitors are well-behaved. :-)

Matt: Criminy, not at the price they're asking!

I fear your new neighbors will be dumber than you are.

Have to agree with Jon on this one. $199,000 seems a bit high...although there is some shrubbery...

I am not planning to bring my computer monitor tomorrow, just because we'll have enough kids around that playing violent games will be kind of rude.

I AM planning to bring a bunch of DVDs, though. I've a hankering to watch Creature from the Black Lagoon again...

The big selling points are the carport, the backyard shed with electrical power, and the several feet-wider-than-usual lot.

With similar houses on the same street asking $143K, I'm guessing they'll have to come down on the initial price after a while. Assuming, of course, that no rich impulse buyers come along.

--Matt
Plus, nothing draws buyers like a price reduction.

I will be at the party sans Ed. (It's Steve's weekend.) I am hoping there will be board games there. I am jonesing for some gaming.

A similar house 2 blocks down your street was going for half that. I'm looking to be in the market for a house, but not for that much.

Ok, we have discovered the following items left behind:

. beige Nittany Lions cap (Matt?)
. Spice Classics chili powder, opened (Jon A?)
. big bag o' games (Matt.)
. a full set of poker chips in a nice carrying case (???)

Too bad nobody left a bunch of cool movies...

The chili powder was indeed mine, but since I won't see you until New Years+2, please use it in good health. And to that end:

BISON CHILI
2 lbs ground bison meat
1 TBSP chipotle chili powder
2 TBSP regular chili powder
1 TBSP ancho chili powder.
1 TSP salt (or to taste)
1 TBSP comino/ground cumin
1 TBSP oregano
2 cans of diced tomatoes with mild green chiles, unseasoned
2 cans dark red kidney beans
1 medium onion, diced (optional)

Brown the ground bison, and the onion, if you are using it, discard the grease, and place in a large slow cooker. Add all other ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on high heat setting, stirring occasionally, until bubbling.

This is the "doesn't use peppers grown on the surface of the sun" version of the recipe, which is milder than what I made this weekend. Chipotle tastes great, but is hot, so I only use a little of it, and use regular chili powder for the main flavoring. Ancho chili powder is a nice complement to the chipotle, it doesn't have much up-front flavor or heat, but it adds a nice lingering aftertaste. I found ancho powder at the Fresh Market near me.

I'm sure we're all avid PVP readers, but this one is too funny not to share.
