Mitchell, Ruth E. September 7, 2006
Ruth E. Mitchell Beloved mother and wife, returned home to God on September 5, 2006. She had lived a productive, happy life of 82 years. Ruth was the widow of Morton E. "Ed" Mitchell. She is survived by daughters Carol Macy (Jerry), Elaine Rogers, and Teresa Vapor (Curt); and sons Wayne (JoAnn) and Mark (Karen); eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary LaRose and Phyllis Ellis. Ruth was the daughter of Grover and Della Neff. Until last year, Ruth still lived in the family home she and Ed built together after World War II on the west side of Indianapolis. This is the only home their five children ever lived in while growing up. She and her husband made a strong team who shared the same values, with family and faith at the top of the list. Ruth was a dedicated homemaker who devoted herself to providing a pleasant home life for her family. During the last year of her life, Ruth lived at Club Roland Manor in Brownsburg, where she made many friends with whom she continued to enjoy new adventures. Ruth had the ability to focus on the bright side, even in challenging circumstances. Although she was small in stature, she possessed a remarkable strength of spirit. Ruth loved to laugh and would be ready on a moment's notice when invited to spend time with a friend or family member. One of her lifelong loves was flower gardening, and the beautiful perennial flowers at the family home remain as a testament to her talent. She also enjoyed painting in water colors and oils. Ruth was able to find happiness in the simple pleasures of life. To her family, she leaves behind the lasting legacy of a life well lived. Arrangements are being handled by Conkle Funeral Home in Speedway, Indiana. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m., conducted by Pastor Jerry Adamson (former pastor of Chapelwood Baptist Church, of which Ruth was a member). Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held after the funeral in the reception room at Club Roland Manor, where all friends and family members are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the donor's home church.

It's been a long time - but I am well. I'm teaching again and am being courted bya few places for future positions but this posting is to mark the passing of David Burroughs - brother of one of our own, Jimmy Burroughs. (David is also my brother-in-law). I have many fond and loving memories of David & Jimmy & I. My mother always thought of Jimmy & David as her other two sons and Jimmy's mom always treated me as their fourth son. As fate would have it my sister fell in love with David and they were married and had three great kids. David had a brillant mechanical mind and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will greatly missed and strongest wishes go out to Jimmy.

POSTED: 7:12 am EST March 4, 2007 UPDATED: 7:16 am EST March 4, 2007
INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana State Police said a man was killed Saturday in a crash involving a school bus. Investigators said the driver of the bus, Marion Farnsley, 61, of Avon, was the only person on the bus when it crashed. According to ISP, the bus was on Six Points Road when it hit the guardrail near the ramp to eastbound Interstate 70 and struck a utility pole. The bus rolled and came to rest on its side. Farnsley was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said it is possible that Farnsley had a medical condition that caused the crash.

Frank, it must belong to either David Dean, David Ditmar, Dan Dubak, or Dennis Dodd.
Is there much wear on the ring? David Ditmar died in 1967, so if it was his it wouldn't be worn down much. I can contact David Dean and Dan Dubak, I think. And I have no info at all on the current whereabouts of Dennis Dodd.

The only son of Wilson and Rilda McBride, Ron grew up in the Maywood area of Indianapolis and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1955. Professionally, he spent several years in the union sheet metal industry, advancing from apprentice to journeyman. He soon yielded to his entrepreneurial spirit and and started his own business, a Dog N' Suds restaurant on the near Westside. While in the restaurant business, he met and married Sandra Farb. Their marriage endured for nearly 44 years. Ron was a devoted husband to Sandra and father to Lynn. He also spent time in residential construction as managing partner of Lifestyle Homes and subsequently developed residential and rental properties in the Avon area. When May rolled around, Ron was trackside at the Indianapolis 500 and delighted in walking the pits on race morning, meeting and greeting the mechanics and drivers. His lifelong love of cars and all things mechanical led to his participation in car shows. Ron's beloved Corvette and vintage AMC Pacer won many trophies and awards in competitions throughout the Midwest. He was also an avid motorcycle rider, earning his license at age 68. His wife Sandra McBride; daughter, Lynn McBride-Turner and son-in-law, Steven Turner, survive him, along with many friends and family members, will continue to celebrate his memory. I got this note from Jean Sandy:
Dan, I don't know if anyone let you know that Karen (MCGraw) Reiche's mother Sara McGraw passed away in Indy about 5 weeks ago and her father, Kenneth McGraw died this past Sunday. I didn't check the Star today but spoke to Karen on Sunday and she thought the services would be on Thursday of this week. Thought someone on the bullentin board might be interested in going or sending her a card.

From Lola Pruett Levingston, BDHS '64:
Well, I needed to get this information out to all who know me - Sometime this evening while my husband was napped, he passed away. My twin brother, Lowell, is spending the night with me. Please or please keep Vic in your prayers as well as prayers for my strength.

I received word this morning that another of our classmates, Carolyn Sue Campbell Smith, has passed.
I received this yesterday from a dear friend of hers: Carolyn was diagnosed with a rare Kidney cancer in March. It was inoperable. She was told that this kind of cancer never responds to treatment, however they did mix up a cancer "cocktail" for her in order to at least slow it down, but it did not. She is now in the very end stages of life. Her Daughters, Janelle, & Carl are with her. I will go by after work. The nurse said today that it will probably be with in the next 24 hours. Sandy, I just thought you might want to know just as an FYI. You could pass it on the next time there is a reunion of some sort of your school friends. ***** I then received an e-mail this morning that Carolyn had passed away at 3:20 yesterday afternoon. Perhaps Indy Star will give funeral details later.
