The "Twice The Ice" vending machine in town is the best deal I know about. I purchase a 16 pound bag of ice everyday for only $ 1.00

I hope they stay around.

Can anyone tell me what they are putting in near the dollar store? It looks like a road that is elevated and then it just ends. Also, how does the lady who sells vegetables near the Dollar General is allowed to set up[ her tent?? What an eyesore!

Oh god now Buckners stayssss Packed out on the weekends. We live around the corner from it. One time I was on my way down from North Carolina. And I wasnt sure which 285 to take back home (i always got them confused lol) And we had a CB radio on the car. I was asking a trucker which one to take, and I was telling him I lived near so and so truck stops thinking that would help them. And with out a beat, they said Oh the one near Buckners lol. I started rolling laughing... 2 states north and ppl know that place.

If you ever eat at kings bay thought, make sure u ask if your getting a soup or actual meal as the plate. I had waited for 45 mintues to get in there the day before mothers day, got in looked at the menu and saw something that had my favs. Steak and scallops. He asked how i wanted my steak, and what sides.. I thought nothing of it till he brought me my plate and it was a bowl... I thought he had brought me the wrong order lol. No where in the description did it even give u the idea it was a soup. After that long of a wait, and having hopes for scallops i was so madd lol. Something told me I should have asked what all was on the plate, but learned my lesson 10 + dollars latter lol

Butts county isn't my county yet, but it could be soon. I think it's great that the counties around Butts are growing. No doubt Butts will get some overflow of new residents and businesses. Home prices and real estate will appreciate faster. Hopefully it will still stay quaint with its old homes and friendly people!

The local Jackson paper is called - Jackson Progress-Argus.

As far as I know, its still not avaliable on line. But the next city over (Griffin, Ga) Does have a paper on line (the classifieds are the main read able part)

http://www.griffindailynews.com

If you are looking for someone U.S.A. You can use http://www.zabasearch.com to just about find any one. (it has some controversary lol. But a pretty good finder) Its like google but for ppl.

I did a search for Ricky Long in jackson and didnt find anything, there are tons in georgia. And a few in Griffin. It has birthdays near the name, so you could slim down who ur looking for.

That Im not sure. Thats just what the paper said. Someone had put it in the "hello butts county" part as the same question. And the news paper put a quote to the side answering that she did have a business licence.

Im wondering... lol By chance did you get pulled over by the Jackson cop that drives a suv looking cop car?

when is this county going to put a traffic light at the quick spot, and jenkinsburg superette on highwy 42 south. I've had an accident there and sine Ive been living on england chapels rd, I have seen 4 car wrecks in the last 3 months. I know the money is there for the light. dont put a green light then you will have to sit through 3 cycles to make a left turn. put a left turn light there with a green light. this should be a priority because there are two major convienance stores here and there are big rigs comeing through here all the time. someone is going to get sued if this keeps happeing and noone put a light there. Its time to do something about this. does anyone agree with this?

Have you called the street dept about the area?
Im not sure exactly where that spot is. But hwy 42 may be covered by DOT. But the street dept should know and could maybe help.
I know Ive seen a ton of spots on 16 that need em lol. Especially in town. Griffin and Jackson both do that lol. And every one knows the traffic areas lol. Never knew why they wouldnt put turn signals there lol

I am trying to find out about the new development called Rosehill. It was scheduled to be on 42 south of Indian Springs. I also heard it was postponed. After looking at the filing for development I would say that is too much development. I live just inside Monroe county and I am looking for less development but am afraid it is on the way. Thanks for any info

"Are there any accrediated private schools around here?"
--------------------

That I'm not sure. There should be a web page or something some where that has that info. I haven't lived there in almost 2 yrs now.

There are some bigger counties like Dekalb that don't have accreditation any more. So its kinda a pick in chose on where you go. You can run into it any where, big or small.

It is a very rural small county. There just aren't many ppl there in general to governing having more schools.

I can testify thought after leaving Butts Co schools and moving to a "bigger" county. I SURE miss the southern schools lol. We went from seeing children with respect and manners to spoiled brats that control the parents lol.

Hey Parents...Do you really care about the health of your children? And I don't mean health in relating to running off to the doctor any time there is a sniffle. I mean knowing the underlying causes of why our kids are sick and why so many are sicker in way larger numbers today than 50 years ago? Why adhd, asthma, allergies, autism, cancers, excema etc.are rampant in this day and age.

Did you ever wonder what the heck is going on? I know I do. What can be done about it. Let's talk! I have a lot of valuable information to share as I'm sure some of you do as well. Let's get together to see how we can improve the state of our kids health here in Butts county and assure them a healthy future. Are you interested?  hope you all are having a great day. I normally don't do things like this, but this is hitting to close to home for me not to try. I will only take a minute of your time, and would like for you to forward this message home so you can be apart to help save the school nurses. As a parent of a child with diabetes, I depend on the school nurse who is certified to treat my daughter. Well, she will be moving up to middle school and that's when she will need the nurses even more. But Sonny Perdue is trying to eliminate the nurses. So then, I asked myself this... who will be there to treat my daughter or any other child? So... the other night I found a web site that you can take part of and only would take a minute of your time. The web site is Georgia Association of School Nurses. On this web site there is a petition you can do online. I am asking as a parent to please help save the nurses. I would really appreciate it. And finally one more thing... send this to all of your friends and families, you can help make a difference. here is the website - www.gasn.org/petitions/

I have just moved to Macon during the past year and am learning about Sherman's March to the Sea that took place here. There was a very interesting story about his crossing at a spot called Planter's Factory, but I cannot find it on contemporary maps. I read in one book where the factory itself was demolished in the late 1980's. It was on the Ocmulgee between highways 16 and 83. From the Civil War maps, it looks to be near 40 mile island on the river. I would appreciate any local information about the mill site.
Please send responses to jcable100@yahoo.com. I love GA and want to learn more about the history. I found the Griswoldville battlefield site recently.
  Thank you, Joe Cable, Macon

Everyone in the State of Georgia lost their home stead exemption. On average it was about a $ 300 or so increase on the tax bills.

Butts along with other counties cut the exemption because of the lack of revenue and it wont return until there is substantial revenue built up- or in other words till they get more of your money.

Just traveling through your forum as I have many others to let everyone know who runs vista on their pc(mine is basic vista) - do not buy quickbooks pro 2009 to run on it. I bought this software 10/08 and it ran 10 months fine and then quickbooks just quit opening. QB tech says it is not covered under warranty because it is an operating system problem and said I would have to pay for their help to fix it or search their support. for your curiosity do a search on this problem and see all the so-called fixes posted, I've tried them all over a dozen times and never got qb to open up. Thank you for letting me post and hopefully this saves someone some money!

Did you all know that Jackson, Ga's Very own Jones Petro has posted a sign in their Marathon gas stations and stores that state - "NO FIREARMS ALLOWED - If you bring a gun in this store YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE."
I Called Jones Petro and Natalie Jones, District Manager said "It was (Their) right to make such a policy despite the fact that someone has a license to cary a firearm issued by the State of Georgia".......Well, I am sure the robbers and other criminals will welcome the news that us law abiding citizens who have gun carry permits are required to leave our guns in our car in the parking lot and your stores are not armed in any way. So criminals, these stores can be located in Butt's, Henry and Spalding Counties.

They have to catch you first and if asked you are required to leave but I am sure when the criminal pulls his gun for a robbery when asked to leave he will just laugh. A good concealed citizen will not be noticed. Yeah NRA and USCCA. You would think that someone who had a GFL license which includes a background check and finger prints would be welcomed in such an establishment if everything was concealed but this just goes to show they care more about political correctness than safty!

In georgia you are required to have a georgia firearms license if you carry a gun. Although you are NOT required to carry concealed. georgia allows sidearms to be carried UNCONCEALED in a holster. This is a great state. I always carry my weapon exposed. This itself is a crime deterrant , much like having another cop on the street. just remeber when you do carry unconcealed, you must pay attention. (p.s) I do carry a backup in my left front pocket as well.
