Fred, Although it isn't a Billy Preston song, I'm wondering whether the track you're thinking of is "Soul Finger" by the Bar-Kays. This came out during the time period you mentioned, and it does start off with the first few notes of "Mary Had a Little Lamb." Here's a link to a YouTube video - not the greatest presentation in the world, but you'll be able to hear the song. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzP-Sh0qTsQ to check it out.

Hi, I remember hearing a great dance song at a disco in the mid sixties. It began with an intrumental tune that sounds like mary had a little lamb (da - da da - da - da da da - da da -- da da da - da). Someone told me it was a Billy Preston song but I can't find it. If you know the name of the song or the artist I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. solotraveler57@yahoo.com
