UD Lands Exclusive License To Produce Collegiate Cards
The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), a division of IMG Worldwide, and The Upper Deck Company, a leading producer of sports trading cards, announced today a multi-year agreement on behalf of more than 200 collegiate institutions for Upper Deck to be the exclusive licensee in the collegiate trading card category.

Collegiate trading cards, which feature former student-athletes in their collegiate uniforms, have been interspersed into professional trading card sets or distributed as standalone sets since 1996. In the past, most of these cards have been known as "draft pick" or "professional prospect" cards. Upper Deck's program will look to expand upon the current usage of collegiate marks and put a new focus on the athletes' collegiate accomplishments, as well as feature mascots, stadiums, and traditions unique to the college market.

Mets Delgado Suing Long Island Memorabilia Dealer
New York Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado sued a Long Island sports memorabilia dealer for $2.4 million, claiming it dropped the ball on its exclusive contract. Delgado claims the men who run Authentic Memorabilia agreed to sell more than $400,000 worth of his signed and used merchandise, but kept the stuff for themselves and intentionally mishandled assets so they would not have enough money to pay him.

Delgado claims the man did not offer the items for sale to the public. He claims defendants Nitin Doshi, Anish Berry, Spencer Lader and Mark Gelfand kept the items for themselves and did not pay a cent for them. Delgado claims the officers even filed false tax returns to reap personal tax benefits.

Delgado is represented in Nassau County Court by Shalom Schwartz with Natiss & Gordon.

Tell Us About Your 'Dream Collectible'
Our sister publication, Tuff Stuff's Sports Collectors Monthly is currently accepting reader submissions regarding their "Dream Collectible." While everyone would like to own a T206 Wagner card, we want to hear about the item you would love to own for personal, not monetary reasons.

I myself am a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and I would love to own a collage-type photo of all their Super Bowl winning teams in Steeler history signed by many of the team's prominent players. Sure it would be worth a pretty penny, but the sentimental value would be priceless. That's my "Dream Collectible," now we want to hear about yours. If you'd like to submit your "Dream Collectible" story, please send 3-5 paragraphs and any related photos to scott.fragale@fwmedia.com and yours could end up in a future issue of Tuff Stuff's Sports Collectors Monthly.
