Bruce,
You should absolutley talk to a steward. Like egark said check your local MOU. For example, our local says that any leave (execpt in emergencies determined by the installation head and agreed upon by the union) must be cancelled 14 days prior (except for emergencies) and all cancelled leave must be reposted immediately. Basically, this 204B must take the leave, unless their is a legit emergency that both the union and management agree on. Get a steward and file a grievance stating the LMOU which is usually in item 4 titled Leave Formulation. Most LMOU are very similar. Good luck

good luck to the people being excessed into the south fl. l&dc......this place will make you wish the economy was better and you would take a better job for half your salery. ACTING PLANT MANAGER-- eddy galindo is a racist fool who tells people he does not believe in giving revise schedules to anyone for any reason but then turns around and gives a fellow cuban a revise.. thats good managing. also there is an idiot named brian goldstein, he is the MDO for tour 1. he thinks he runs the whole building and does not like to be told no. a couple of years ago he was a clerk at the gmf in miami and the workers say his specialty was playing dominoes and pinball. he basically stayed in the breakroom half of his work day developing his skills for the games. that must be why the post office wanted him has a supervisor. now i see why the post office is losing money. the bad choices they make in picking there supervisors is a reflection to the service we give our customers......

Bruce /m3978 -- I am a carrier. In our LMU, we have a provision that you must give two days notice to cancel A/L so somebody else has a chance to take it.

In my office, my supervisor would send this person home if other people also requested leave for that day and were denied. I have a good supervisor,he is fair.Maybe this would stop it. This still does not help anyone.Being a 204b,management,probably likes this.

Is there a way to keep people from scheduling AL and then showing up to work anyway. We have a 204B that will schedule AL on every Monday and Friday but comes in to work as a clerk anyway. She does this so other employees cant have the day (slot) as we are short staffed.

Interesting info Koala. They excessed a number of expeditors here as well. The AMC is gone before year end.Talks of dropping manual either totally or down to one tour are also circulating. It looks as though the junior clerks will be excessed or forced to change crafts and the senior people are left with tour I automation jobs.Oh well,I pulled the plug on this last VERA.House, car paid off,no debt.About $1850 or so after taxes and insurance and another $750 from TSP and $600 from CD's.Not much but workable in a small town.

They're not only excessing at our P&DC, they are also sending folks out on detail - making automation clerks expeditors without bids posted and yet claiming we don't have enough people for automation. They've also taken some of the break down out of LCTS (mail handler territory) and set up a bullpen for clerks to break down the mail ..........then run the DBCS machines - yet are short handed? It's like a shell game! Oh yeah posted automation jobs with week days off yet claim they might need to abolish any DBCS jobs that have either sat/sun or sun/mon days off - yet have tons of folks on change of schedule that don't have enough seniority to get a weekend bid job!!Something stinks at the USPS!

Is anyone at a P & DC where jobs like data collection, registry clerks, and PSDS are being abolished? They just zapped our registry section down to one tour III and one tour I clerk with all other functions done by relief clerks on automation. We have one day registry clerk(abolished) and four afternoon and three tour 1 clerks.Six jobs gone into thin air.I took this last VERA and although I will lose 5% at my age,I figure what the hell.My TSP did not get hammered as I played it safe the last four years.Good luck everybody.
