It depends,if you change the schedule to get the holiday off. I seriously doubt it.If a guy worked his holiday involuntarily and he has more seniority than you then it definitely a NO-NO.

I'm a level 7 clerk in the Cincinnati district, they took the machines out of my small office and I was left unasigned. There were 5 clerks under me but I was excessed out. Luckly only 14 miles away into a BMEU clerk job in yet another small office. Sometimes it works out but most of those being excessed are not as fortunate. I understand that in south florida, like Ft Myers they are walking them out. Those who can't get a clean bill of health are being forced out on comp. I can see this happening all over. Carriers doing modified clerk work, light duty clerks/carriers anyone who can't work at full potential are out the door.

Yes you can do a change of schedule in a holiday week, I've done it several times. Just depends on the supervisor your working with, you would think whats good for one should be good for another but it doesn't work that way in this company. Were being cut so short now in the clerk area I'm suprised we can take our annual.

NUTTY; Were you the jr level 7? 5 under you probably level 6's correct? Excessing by juniority AND level. Happened around here also. Station excessed 3 level 7's and 4 level 6's into carrier craft. 7's were senior to about 10 6's. Argued that mgmt should excess all junior 6's and allow sr 7's to do 6's job. Lost that case pretty easily.

The future looks grim for the post Office. All you hear is doom and gloom, it gets very sad.

Larry I agree. It is going to be a very tough ride. The VERA has worked out ok for some of the people I have talked to.They have just cut back a bit and had their ducks in a row when they took the offer.

The next contract will be the most interesting EVER. Potter is going to try every trick in the book. Let's just hope the arbitration law is not changed. I would look for a lot more casual positions. Same with mail handlers the following year.

I realize the rumor mill is sometimes best not stirred, but I will ask anyway.Their is talk that all remaining AMC's will close by the end of 01/10.I would guess that an AMC is considered an installation for excessing purposes.Sowhat happens if the AMC closes and there are very few,if any, clerk or mail handler jobs available in the area. Some of these employees have 30 years.

You were right about AMCs being closed, tentatively starting 2010.As such,AMC is not a dumping ground for excesses. If there is no jobs locally, they would have to travel up to 200 miles if they want to have a job, regarless how long they have been with the USPS.

I was reading the cut off date was Sept 25th, you had to reply or "show interest". Apparently, according to PR article only 6.6 % of what they wanted to take the early retirement did so. So, it is to late, if the PO says they want to separate you because you injured off duty, and didn't understand the early out, that they were going to can you anyways, and no one explained this. Any advice. I sure appreciate someone's advice.

Are clerks who revised there start time, and are on the O.T.D.L., are still included in the over time rotation. The Supervisor in my unit, does not allow overtime for revised start time, but has for revised days off.
