What a great time we had at Mariposa! It was awesome seeing our Northern brothers and sister, the Fresno gang Moto-Ministries, as well as the guys from Westgate Church! I hope to see some of you in a few weeks at the RUTS Fresno ride. Huge thanks to the Slatterys for hosting and the ladies that helped with the gas & lunch stop.

RUTS North will be having a trail ride at Stoneyford November 27-30th with a good size group going up and riding the 29th on Saturday.
Davis Flat is a good campground with toilets and pleny of area to camp. I would stay away from the Familey Enduro, too many riders going one way and honestly Thanksgiving weekend is a bad time to go too but some of us if the weather is good will be going if you would like to ride with some RUTS riders. Oh and the below message about kitchen supplies is what we call spam, we got is once so not a bad track record, just have Dan P remove it if it keeps happening, to bad they did not leave an email I could use some some different species of hardwood lumber.

Be extremely careful if you go the weekend of Nov 22-23, there is a Family enduro that will have approximately 400 riders. There have been quite a few head ons lately as the park doesn't close to the public for such events. Also be prepared to ride in the cold, rain, and snow since the weather
can change rapidly. Steve Koretoff, Fresno Phil and myself are doing the enduro if anyone's interested.

I would like to make it up to Mariposa for the Friday ride, and of coarse take the RV up then. If so please post or call 475-9536

Hollister Hills has just finished grooming the main trails and Friday should be a great day for riding the Renz property !

To all you High Sierra 250 Dual Sport Types. I dug up a forecast to check for rain. Looks like no sign of it, but this is the Sierra's. 90 degree days, 45 degree nights. Bring water and be prepared in case you break and get stuck after dark. Carry tools and tow "robes" (per Tim).

All you riders and Club members have been my bread and butter over the four years that we have done this. We will be doing our best to make you a good and fun ride this weekend. Also a shout out prayer request for Cliff Williams who cant make the ride this year. Cliff was all set to ride with Dave Dixon when he dislocated his tipula fibula from this foot last week. Cliff is from Bakersfield and has been riding our event for the past two years but not this year. Agin thanks for everyone that is comming up to ride and we will see you Friday evening.

Thanks for those that were able to make it out to Hollister. It was a hot day but the riding and fellowship made it all worth it. F.Y.I., the new trails that were built at Hollister were a lot of fun and very easy to navigate your way around...I can't wait untill they are a little more damp for better traction..

Hope to see you all either at Morningstar or the upcoming dual sport ride.

The High Sierra 250 route sheets are done, just doing some final tuning so all right turns are going right and lefts are left. Remeber to make your Hotel Reservations soon and not at the last minute, all that info can be found on the High Sierra 250 flyer online at www.rutsnorth.org.For those of you planning to use your gps, the tracks are done and if you want a preview so as to load them onto your gps unit please email me and I will send them to you. It would be faster if you can load them on your time instead of Saturday morning, if you cant load them all on to your unit. No worries I will be taking my laptop with me for satuday and sunday. Need more info please fill free to drop a line at ktm200@volcano.net, cell 209-304-4483, home 209-296-6588. Email gets faster responce time. Will see you all next month.

Hey guys we will be doing the High Sierra 200 Dual Sport ride for 2008. the date I am choosing is August 23-24th starting from Elkins Flat and riding to Topaz Lake. Spend the night and ride back, I hope to have both a route sheet and Garmin GPS tracks too. In the meantime I will be developing the ride form week to week and July 11th, 12th, and 13th we will be Camping in the Hope Valley area off hwy 88 designing the route from Kirkwood to Topaz and from Topaz to Sundays gas. Anyone interested in coming out and riding with us is invited. Also two weeks later in September 3rd, 4th and 5th we will be doing a Tahoe Dual sport ride, exploring the trails and 4x4 roads in the area, and again all are invited to ride with us. Let me know if you are interested so we can save you a camping spot for the July outing, if you dont want to camp. Kirkwood resort is open and Tahoe is only 20 to 30 miles away.
Tim- my e mail is ktm200@volcano.net, my phone # is 209-296-6588 but I am an e mail kind of a guy and will respond quicker to e mail.

I'm in with possibly two buddies. I was signed up for the Ruts North DS ride last fall that was canceled due to a system bringing in snow down to 4000'. As a suggestion Carl (if you be da point man for this endeavor) contact Mr. Ruts North and pick up his program for what he was planning. The plan was to stage at Kyburz (On Hwy 50) then ride the Rubicon over to South Lake Tahoe, spend the night and ride a mix of pavement and fire roads back the following day. It really sounded like a hoot to me. In my disappointment of the cancellation, I struck out on my own and rode to Kings Canyon...and got snowed on there anyway (burrr). Anyway, I'm in (+2).

RUTS Whiskey Falls Ride - May 31, 2008

Att. RUTS Riders - Hope everyone is doing well. I spoke with Steve K. today & we firmed up plans on the Whiskey ride. Here's the plan, We will meet at the "Shell Station & Mini Mart" on Road 400 at the first Bass Lake turn off, a couple miles before you get to the town of North Fork ( We will be meeting at 8:00 AM - please don't be late , We will leave by 8:25!!!!) . If your not familiar where Road 400 is, it is the Oneal's turn off, on HYW 41, turn east toward North fork and its about 15 to 20 miles. This should be a great ride, the mountains are getting rain this weekend so no dust and good traction. The club will be providing lunch for everyone so no need to bring your own. Lunch will be our famous" RUTS trail dogs" (hot dogs), chips and soda free of charge. - All are invited, but we need to get a head count so we know how many are coming. I want to ask that anybody going riding with the club, have proper personal safety gear, this is mandatory for everybody own safety! The terrain is very rough with lots of rock, we want NO injury's. We will also require everybody to sign a release of liability form at all RUTS events. This is just to protect Central Valley RUTS from liability. Forms will be provided at the ride. I would ask everybody to lift up the event in prayer, that there would be no injury, no bike brake downs and all would have a great time. I'm really look forward to the ride, hope You can attend - God Bless Greg Amos

I just got a letter from the BLM office. As you know Clear Creek is now under a "temporary closure" order due to the EPA report that was just released. As a result refunds are being issued to those that got season passes. Refunds will be based on a single visit to Clear Creek.
Also included in the letter from the BLM are hearing dates. For those of you that didn't buy season passes, I doubt you'll get this letters. So I will post the letters on the web site.

What a bummer.

Stonyford and Georgetown are both awesome with a travel time of 4 hrs. Our Fresno RUTS brothers have a nice variety of riding spots within 3 hrs. I met a bunch of guys at Clear Creek a few years ago that all went in on a retired school bus. They had removed the seats in the rear to accomodate about 10 bikes and kept the front 3-4 rows of seats for passengers. They also had a generator, refrigerator and some folding beds mounted to the side walls of the bus. I think they paid $3500 or so and it was in pretty nice shape.

Hi Carl,
I’m curious, considering Clear Creek’s closure, what are your next favorite places to ride?

I guess our riding may require a bit more driving in the future, but if we buddy-up it should still be fun. RUTS may need to find a fuel efficient multiple person transport vehicle and really large trailer so ride-sharing can reduce the transportation costs, going to farther places in style!

Blessings,
Bill

I just received word that Clear Creek is closed for the next 18-24 months due to the EPA report to be released tomorrow. I called Leslie Smith at BLM and she said not to bother showing up Saturday for the remaining course clean up. BLM will make the official announcement tomorrow, and it will be a sad day indeed. Praise God for the awesome times and events we've been blessed with over the years.

Well, Saturday is almost here and we really need volunteers for course pickup.
You do know that Clear Creek well have a dry weather closure, so this could be the last time to ride there until October, so come on, post up! Meeting place is Oak Flat 9am Saturday.

Thanks goes out to all the Rutster's that put so much effort into a great ride weekend....All the folks in the Boogie Box had a great time.

I am not going to be able to make it to the clean up ride this weekend but I do have a reward offer.

$25 goes to anyone who finds a KTM exc200 kickstand!

It is somewhere on the afternoon section of the yellow ride....Matt thinks it is between lumps riding area (corner of R5 and R8) and half way down R5 on the way to R1.

Remember $25 to anyone who finds it.....

Happy hunting :-)

Just a quick note to say thanks to all the faithful hard workers that made this event so wonderful. It was great to meet some new friends, and visit with old ones. God sure was with us . Thanks goes out to Tim Sumrall, who has already posted Fun Run pics on Norths site.

Like Tracy said we sure could use help taking down the yellow and orange courses. 8 riders could get the courses down in 1 day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have said to yourself I would like to help out, this is your chance.
Its alot of work but quicker than set up, so POST UP

Carl, is there a chance you can share the routes your group will be taking and start time. The reason I ask is I will be with another large group this weekend (15-20 people) and would like to try to avoid getting in the way and avoid any possible collisions etc. We will most likely split into a few small groups but it doesnt hurt to prepare.

Thanks

I'm planning on going down the Clear Creek on the weekend of April 5-6 to help set up the course for the Fun Run. So far it's just me, my big old F-350, trailer and my bike that will be departing Saturday morning (April 5). I have tons of room for 2 to 3 passengers, gear and bikes if anyone wants to throw in for some diesel and carpool. I plan on staying the night on Saturday and heading back to the Bay Area some time on Sunday (April 6). I live in the Campbell/San Jose area, so if your interested please e-mail at dan@prxy.org or call me on my cell phone @ 8953.014.804 (note phone number is backwards to foil internet spybots).

Sorry Carl, I missed your call last week. I may not be able to make the Fun Run this year, but I'm planning on helping out as much as possible. I may show on Sunday morning (April 19) to help clean up and haul stuff out.

The EXC 200 is a great bike. I know several people (Adults) who ride them and have a great time on them. They are KTM built so very dependable and very trail worthy. They are great trail bikes, lots of low end and very easy to handle...... I don't know your son but if he is like any young person......your son will fly!!!!! 2K is a good price, but with anything... check it out.

Colin,

My son Scott rides a 2001 KTM 200 EX/C.

This is a great bike, nice power, lightweight and great for trails as it has a decent low end for a 2 stroke engine. I have ridden it many times and always have fun on it myself.
That is a fair price for the bike (depending on condition and accessorys)

Ruster KTMers....My son is looking to get a bigger bike. One option is the KTM 200 exc....I don't know much about these bikes. Are their perferable years (Green sticker '02 or earlier). Is there diferences between ex exc etc that I need to be aware of on that bike? What should a buyer of this used bike look out for?

There is a 2000 200 exc listed for $2K on craigslist....Is that a good price for this bike?
