usmc1982, I think some of the information you have been given has been misconstrued. As a vet, you can use your time in service that is countable to boost up your leave gained each year. This can go up to 26 days, the maximum. The 10 point part isn't needed for this, just that you are a vet and your service dates coincide with the accepted dates the post office wants.

Please keep in mind, if you retired from the military, then only a small portion of your time in service will count toward leave accrual in the post office. This is also covered in this link.
