I am retired US Navy with 30% disability rating trying to get hired by the USPS. The USPS web site has only RCA job openings and I have taken the exam and waiting for a call. I would like to get a permanent job. Are they kept shrouded in secrecy? I'm in Reading, PA and looking for City Carrier or Clerk position, F/T or PTF. The Lacaster, PA district office has a bad phone number and can not get through. Can my fellow veterans help me out in putting me in the right direction?

Happy New Year to Everyone!

I have installed new forums at PEN for everyone to utilize. I respectfully request that you at least try them out. You may find our new forums here:

http://www.postalemployeenetwork.com/phpforum/index.php

Why new forums? simply because PEN does not own our current forums - they are owned by Quick Topic. This limits our ability to manage the forums - not only that, but we must pay Quick Topic for use of these forums. We own our new forums. Please give them a try. In the near future we may cease using Quick Topic forums altogether.

THANKS!

rcox357 - From what I understand it would not be in your best interest to buy time in the PO with your Navy retirement. The way I heard it, you would be converting your military time to postal time and would lose it. (ie, no retirement check from the Navy) The best option would be to continue drawing your retirement and wait for a full time position. Then build a retirement with the PO so you can get 2 of them.

I'm not sure if the new Postal Reform Bill changes any of that since the PO no longer has to pay the military retirement of PO career employees.

I would definately research it fully before making a decision.

I am retired Navy with 20 years of honorable service. I was wondering how the "Payback your military time" works. I am an RCA who only gets 24 hours a week and need to know what I have to do to switch to a craft that pays at least 40 hours per week.

has anyone else had their hours changed so as to avoid being paid double sunday premium? Our union has not helped us at all here and I would like to know what others have done to get the unions attention or get their hours back to normal. All of us in maintenance that were affected are veterans also. If you have a phone number to a good union rep. I would appreciate that too. I don't talk to ours.

12 yrs dav been working for the postal service for 18 months in MO. Sent off all info so I can have my military time evaluated so I could buy back for retirement, I was originally seperated temp. medical retirement as SFC on TDRL after OIF, then given 60% disability and severance pay. Haven't received info back yet and its been greater than a month how long should I wait before checking on this?

I am a PTF. I am the only PTF on my tour. The PTF's on the other tour and at the stations are getting at least 40-50 hours a week to my 30-36 hours. I have filed a grievance. It got to step two and then my Union Pres kind of got his job taken away. It wasn't his bid job but no one has that as their bid job so he was doing it. But ever since then nothing else matters. What should I do? And where can I find all this information?
