Sandy, did you know there is an injured on duty forum at postal pen where a former claims examiner, Sr CE and claims mgr by the name of Ed Daniel who answers owcp questions? I think he may also represent claimants. If I am incorrect with the name of the site wil someone please post it correctly?

Ed use to work for a lawyer, but I guess he struck out on his own. The lawyer he worked for was an expert in "stress" claims. His name was Gordon Reiselt or something like that and he is good and has a good payment plan.

Curious

And every day the USPS sends you home with a no work reason you file a CA-7 for lost wages, right? If you become modified you will have set hours and days off. They may not be the day or hours you want. That is whay you give up when you are IOD.

Point taken but how long does anyone think this is going to last? They will force us off the rolls and then what. I will lose my NALC health benefits and in this economy what on earth will they retrain us for? And do you think we will be hireable after they ask us WHY we are no longer at the USPS? All I want to do is work. THey effectivly evaporated a 2 million dollar a year revenue position when the closed the Centralized Stamps by mail site(where I worked) and I know for a fact that they are holdong other detail positions for all the supervisors that have been RIFFed (displaced by their reorginazation)Now they are telling me that they will cut my hours again because PTF's are not getting their hours! Well 20 years of seniotity must mean nothing! Talk about stress!!

Probably...permanently.

Reality check: The USPS is becoming the Western Union of correspondence. I myself cut down to perhaps one or two snail mails per week as opposed to countless emails sending letters, documents, etc. And I am a solo office. Imagine a huge corp that employees thousands, how much they have cut back on snailmail. In 15 years or much less I really and truthfully do not see the USPS existing as it does now; unless it has totally converted to e-mail services. LSM operators, carriers etc, will simply not be needed anymore so than the Western Union telegraph cable guy is needed today.

Curious 13-
If you get disability retirement you can still keep your health benefits. They will cost you the non-postal premium rate. If you get OWCP then USPS must reimburse you the extra cost. If you take OPM disability, you can work another job and earn up to 80% of current carrier salary and still keep disability. You may also qualify for unemployment in the interim.

Please note to remember to read the bottom line of the outcome of this suit: the court, for all its harsh words against the USPS is virtually powerless to rectify the actual actions of the USPS toward employees:

"but, of course, it is well known that a Federal Administrative Judge can not request punitive action of this sort, and it is up to the agency to take the action necessary both contractually and morally to stop this abuse."

i am filling out a ca-2, what do you put for the date of the injury.

Date of illness is the date you became aware of the illness and its causal connection to your employment; usually the date of medical diagnosis.

Prior to my injury I had not worked the year previously. When I claimed Holiday pay in the 'Other wage loss" part' of the CA-7, my claims examiner said that he could only pay me Holiday pay if the agency can show what I earned in Holiday pay one year prior to being off. Is he right? Where is the Reg on this? Thanks.

I understand all of what you folks are saying, the Postal Service will be obsolete, I agree, but that doesnt mean we should be forced into things like surgery or no work or no pay.....it just isn't right.

Snowed, thanks for the info on Disability retirement and the insurance, thats one of my biggest worries....

Hi all, my union just informed me that the nrp is coming on tues to talk to me... i will read up on the process again... i really don't want to get a cervical fusion.. even if i do, i have foot problems and lower back bulging disc that may prevent me from walking and twisting in the truck delivering the mail anyways... i know po is trying to say it is progression of age.. can't see how it can be a progression of age when i have had at least 5 injuries to my neck and back, all accepted by OWCP.. with each injury, i was out longer and longer each time as it took longer and longer to heal.. this last time i know is it.... any advice would be greatly appreciated
