I have been looking for a pulmonary rehabilitation area that teaches patients that are chronicly ill with a pulmonary problem how to breathe again. i.e. what to do when becoming short of breath, weakness, etc. All of the programs I have seen begin with physical rehab. This causes symptoms and discourages patients. I understand that physical rehab has a part to play, but patients need to know how to handle the symptoms first. I am a Family Physician and am in search of a program that will help patients learn first how to control symptoms and then begin physical training.

Hello, I recently lost my brother at 62 years of age to Emphysema....I thought I'd like to donate his new home fitness gym to a local pulmonary rehab if possible. He used it religiously throughout his illness until he no longer could......I think he would like me to look into this...can anyone help with finding such a hospital, physical therapy, rehab center or such to pass this 'gym' along to a facility that may benefit as my brother did. He resided in Tempe, AZ so it would have to be someplace local to conveniently do the transport.
thank you.
