/m9124 - Thanks for the information on the "Ants Marching" repellant for the home. If there are DMB fans out there, nuff said! :)

"He wakes up in the morning
Does his teeth bite to eat and he's rolling
Never changes a thing
The week ends the week begins
She thinks, we look at each other
Wondering what the other is thinking
But we never say a thing
These crimes between us grow deeper

take these chances
place them in a box until a quiter time
lights down, you up and die

Goes to visit his mommy
She feeds him well his concerns
He forgets them
And remembers being small
Playing under the table and dreaming

Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die
Driving in on this highway
All these cars and upon the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged
No time to exchange

When all the little ants are marching
Red and black antennas waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way

Candyman teasing the thoughts of a
Sweet tooth tortured by the weight loss
Programs cutting the corners
Loose end, loose end, cut, cut
On the fence, could not to offend
Cut, cut, cut, cut

Take these chances
Place them in a box until a quieter time
Lights down, you up and die"

You mean that DMB, Leko?

Hey, Mar - Here's an idea...

For all those that want sports programs to continue or increase, let them take up the slack from those of us that don't - in other words, charge them more in taxes rather than make it system-wide.

I don't want my fixed-income taxes increased, so let those that do pay.

Another point before I get yelled at - if the real estate market has tanked, why haven't assessments also shown a comparitive drop resulting in lower taxes on devalued properties?

Mar - no dream this time. We are going back to the inexpensive, quiet, peaceful, beautiful, relaxing palatial estate in the mountains of West Virginia (America's best kept secret).

We should be out of this stinkin' Hanover by mid-September.

I can't believe how noisy, congested, loud, expensive (as in everything), and diverse this area has become. It sure has changed in the 5 years we were gone. Luckily, we kept the house in WV. I guess I knew deep inside that someday we'd be going back.

Example of the cost of living - gasoline used to be about 20 cents a gallon more expensive there (approx. 300 miles away) than here. We went back to the hills a couple of weeks ago and found that the price of gasoline had risen in the Hanover / Littlestown PA area to within 4 cents of the price near our palatial estate - and that is at an Exxon station just off I-79!

Roma tomatoes at the WalMart in Clarksburg, WV were 73 cents a pound 2 weeks ago (why isn't there a symbol for "cents" on a computer keyboard?). Those same Roma tomatoes here at the WalMart in Hanover were $1.00 a pound. A less ethical man would buy a few pounds there and return them here - WalMart has a very liberal return policy. No receipt? Store credit is OK. I'm too honest to do that, though.

Same for sodas - there, roughly $5.50 a case. Here, $7.00 a case.

Just a couple of examples of the differences. I won't go into the differences in taxes...

Let me be the first to offer my congratulations to Don Baker for his upcoming retirement and membership in the "Check of the Month Club."

43 years is a long time to serve in any capacity in law enforcement and it takes its toll both physically and mentally.

Enjoy your relaxation time with the family, Don.

Hey...opening...Chief of LPD...I'm qualified no matter what the requirements...coffee and donuts again...irate citizens...staffing concerns...

Nah. On second thought, I'll pass.

Ah come on Cynic and be our Chief then we could take you apart on the board. What fun that would be.

Take me apart? Nah - it would more likely be the council and mayor's office.

First of all, it would be run like a police department rather than what it is now. We would start out with a complete audit of equipment and personnel and go from there. Its amazing what one could find if certain areas were checked.

A little more accountability would be very nice - "know whut I mean, Vern?"

But, alas and alack, my PG mentality wouldn't go over very well in Littlestown (sorry for that terribly confusing statement, but Littlestown Dad knows what I mean).

Hey, Littlestown Dad - how about grey shirts and steel blue trousers with a 1" black stripe down the sides for starters?

Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson both died today, and Ed McMahon passed away on Tuesday...The whole "celebrities always die in threes" urban myth seems to have an eerie consistency about it.

It is reported to be cardiac arrest, but there is already speculation that it was related to prescription drugs. I also heard he had been training with Lou Ferrigno for an upcoming tour, and that the intense training may have led to it.

I'm voting for the Cynic. And yes - grey shirts and steel blue. I like it. You can take the town maggots dancing down at Knuckle Junction. That would be a good start. Littlestown could use a regular street sweeping.
